remington 700 sendero nightmare
AverageJoe replied to 5guyshunting's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Stay away from the bergers if you want a good group. Shoot some hornady 139 and 162. If it doesnt group from one of those then something is definitely wrong. Bergers are very picky -
Sorry to hear of this...and sorry for your loss

Game and Fish Commission votes to support alternative on Mexican wolf conservation developed by large stakeholder partnership Posted in: News Media Apr 22, 2014 Share or Bookmark: Share on facebookShare on twitterShare on emailShare on favoritesShare on print|More Sharing ServicesMore Digg this story!Email this article Printer friendly page The Arizona Game and Fish Commission voted unanimously today to support an alternative developed by 28 cooperating agencies and stakeholders for the non-essential population rule that governs Mexican wolf conservation in Arizona and New Mexico. The proposal, which has an unprecedented level of stakeholder support, is being submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) for consideration in its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). While still conceptual, the alternative is scientifically-based and would further cooperation between federal and state agencies and stakeholders to achieve a self-sustaining wolf population. Key elements of the alternative include: Allowing up to triple the target number of Mexican wolves in the Southwest from the 1982 recovery plan’s goal of not less than 100 wolves to achieve a self-sustaining population. Major expansion of the area where wolves can be released to include the Secondary Recovery Zone. Expansion of the area where Mexican wolves can disperse and establish territories. Establishment of a connectivity corridor for wolves to disperse to the species’ core historical range in Mexico. Recognition of the importance of Mexico as a primary element to successful Mexican wolf recovery. “The biggest impediment to the Mexican wolf reintroduction effort in the Southwest isn’t biologically-based. It’s social tolerance for an apex predator on today’s modern landscape that must support such a wide variety of conservation, recreation and economic uses. This alternative represents the first time such a broad-based group has come together for Mexican wolf conservation, and it goes a long ways to enhancing social tolerance and, in turn, successful conservation of the species,” says J.W. Harris, chairman of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. The alternative provides concepts that stakeholders want the Service to evaluate as it prepares the draft EIS that will eventually be opened to broad public review and comment.

Honestly we the people have the power and control of what we want in our state but you Cant be afraid of consequences if you really want to get something done. That is what the federal govt loves to push down our throat because they know people will comply rather than go to jail for a bit or be fined. IMO it is our duty to take things into our own hands when the govt starts pulling this BS There is zero need for wolves in any state in the west. We are the top predator and keep plenty of animals in check without the help of half breed wannabe wolves.

Tissue Resistance to Arrow Penetration
AverageJoe replied to JACK's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
LMAO...you just made my barley pop come out my nose "penetration is overrated in the archery world" thats the funniest dumb thing I've ever heard! I'll take 12" of dirt penetration every day over my arrow getting packed off by any critter. Besides arrows are easier to find when they are stuck in the dirt...thanks for the chuckle Glad you got a kick out of it! Now maybe reread and try to understand the point. If a 400 gn arrow gives plenty of penetration to achieve the desired pass through, why go to a 500 gn arrow? To get more penetration and a slightly less noisy bow right? Please tell me what more of a pass through achieves for you? When hunting, Accuracy and arrow time in flight are far more important than over penetrating! Faster flatter arrows are more accurate. That is why target/3d shooters shoot IBO weight arrows. -

Tissue Resistance to Arrow Penetration

Having read your comments here and in the previous thread on fast rigs, it seems pretty obvious that you're trolling, but that's ok, i'll bite. have you ever actually killed or even seen an animal killed by an arrow? Do you know anything at all beyond internet bs, say frompractical experience? Ive killed quite a few animals with arrows that were middle weight at medium speeds. These guys are nowshooting arrows that are the same weight or heavier, plus about 30-40 fps from my 6 year old bow. Thats a ton more energy than needed. These 'fast flat' arrows you continue to harp on have way more than whats needed. If it makes you feel better to lob 1000 grain cedar logs at 150 fps, knock yourself out, but dont be stupid enough to think every single other person with a bow is misguided and you're the only one that has it right. Kids and ladies kill elk with 250 grain arrows off of 40 lb bows all the time. You put one in the right spot, it doesn't take much to get lungs. Period. Buh-bye. Well stated and true -
Steve can you chime in here as to why the az elk society is part of this?

Tissue Resistance to Arrow Penetration
AverageJoe replied to JACK's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
First off, these arent guns and bullets, this is archery. A 60 or 70 yard shot is usually the maximum out here. A small pin gap and flatter trajectory to minimize miscalculations is more important than penetration, not that penetration isnt important. Heavy and slow will win over fast and light once you reach a certain distance. This is my theory in guns 100%. I would take a 200 gn bullet out of a 308 at 2500 fps anyday over a 150 gn bullet at 3000 fps. This is because of the downrange energy and better areodynamics. That being said, archery is very different. Penetration is overrated in the archery world. Why would a guy boast that he shot a deer and buried the arrow 12" in the dirt behind it? What good does the arrow do in the ground behind the animal? If a 400 gn arrow will end up on the ground 2" in the dirt but a 500 gn arrow will end up 12" in the dirt, which arrow made the deer more dead?? Neither... The other factor here is, does the arrow stuck in the chest cavity of an elk kill quicker than an arrow that passed through? The answer...yes. the blood trail might not be as good but it will still suffice. What doesnt kill an elk is a slow heavy arrow with too much trajectory that was misjudged by 5 yards. All this leads up to this conclusion. A 390 gn arrow traveling at 310 fps will have less drop, very ample penetration to kill any animal, and less chance of error in the event you didnt have a rangefinder or time to range the animal, which happens. It has a significant advantage in time in flight which again is a huge factor in the archery world at 60 yds. -
Is it the new prostaff 5 or old prostaff?

If you are looking at the experience, take a look at a used invasion or destroyer as well. they are almost the same bow and you can find a used d340 or d350 for under 500 fully setup. Look at archerytalk classifieds and there are a few on there.
