    Angle Compensating Range Finders

That sucks. Just looked that up and you are correct. No angle comp under 100 yds on the new 1600-b. thats why i bought it but guess i should have waited and got the new leica 1000-r which does angle comp from 10-600 yds. Frikkin leica how hard is it to make one rangefinder that does it all.

    Angle Compensating Range Finders

Try to find a leica 1600. They are pricier but i sold one on here a year or so ago for 550. They are quite a bit better than any other rangefinder out there. I had the vortex and it was just ok. It is slow to read and i got inconsistant readings up close. Farthest i ever ranged anything was 600. I ranged a large rock at 1982 with my current leica 1600-b.

    Zeiss 6.5 x 20 x50 MC

Or just get a better scope with more adjustment.

    Good scope out to 900

Vortex viper hs, swfa 10x42 ss, swfa 3.5-15x42, All three will be fine for your needs and then some. If you want to shoot 900 or more, make sure the scope you get has enough adjustment to get there. Some scopes that seem like a good value might not have enough adjustment. Nikon, zeiss conquest, etc. the scopes i listed are 30mm tubes and have good adjustment ranges. The 1" tubes might not have enough adjustment for the most part, which is the nikon line, zeiss conquest line, etc.

Finally got me my own 22 Magnum!!!

Nice! I like my 17 HMR for the same thing. My HMR has killed quite a few critters over the years.

    Heading to Kauai

    Awesome!!! Where you staying?
  9. Dont you know you cant kill an animal unless it has a 2" cutting surface traveling at least 350 fps oh and it HAS to be a 500 gn arrow or it just wont work.
  10. I hated the xmark pro on my sendero. Took it off and installed a fully adjustable remington trigger (old style) which i like more than the timney. If you have the xmark pro (the one that has the allen head sticking out of the trigger) i would remove it and go with timney. I have no experience with a shilen.

    Heading to Kauai

Forgot to add, south shore hardly gets any rain, north shore gets 86" of rain a year. Depending on what you like that might help your decision making. The center of kauai is the wettest spot on earth. Gets 500" of rain a year. Its a peak and you can drive to it and walk partially up it. We did and talk about humid. Lol

    Heading to Kauai

I went to kauai for our anniversary/honeymoon a few years ago. Awesome time! We were there for 5 days which was plenty to see most everything on the island. Things we saw which were cool were; 1.Waimea canyon, basically the grand canyon but prettier 2. Wailua river tour, takes you to fern grotto and a very nice boat tour. 3. If you like coffee, visit kauai coffee plantation on the south shore. Very good and fresh coffee 4. Hanalei Bay, north shore. Awesome Burger joint on main st, beautiful waterfalls as you eat, cool beach cove to check out afterwards. 5. From Waimea canyon coninue up the hill and you will come to a parking lot. Take the hike up the hill and it lets you look out over the famous Napali clifffs. Breathtaking views Places to eat; 1. The Beach House which is simply amazing but is also about $120 meal for two. Located on south shore Kauai 2. Cant remember the name but that burger place in Hanalei was one of my favorites just due to the scenery while eating on the porch. 3. PlEnty of small cafe's here and there or even fast food in Lihue if you want a quick bite to eat while on the go. 4. On the way to Waimea Canyon you will pass a great little cafe on the left. You cant miss it The south shore has kind of a strip mall that has shopping, eating, etc but is setup very touristy and kind of cool looking. The north shore is more of the high end homeowners etc, gets much more rain than the south shore, and is very pretty compared to south shore. More of the jurassic park look. You can drive from one end of the island to the other in under an hour. There is only one highway that goes from north to south side. I could go on forever but thats probably enough for now. Have fun and dont forget to relax. Lol
  13. 123456 if you do end up sticking with the rem 700 and want a stock from a sendero, i have one i would sell you for $200. It has been bedded for my sendero but i am wanting to change stocks. It is the black with webbing hs precision w/ palm swell.
  14. A sendero is still just a rem 700 with nothing special other than a hs precision stock and polished reciever. If he already has a rem 700 adding a custom barrel in his desired contour would give him a better shooting gun and better piece of mind knowing he added the barrel of his choice in the contour, length, fluting of his choice.
  15. Sell the weatherby, use the money to buy a new barrel for the remmy.

    Interesting pics

I see a soon to be dead dog
  18. I shot a bull with a fixed 3 blade and it didnt bleed on drop of blood. Hit him good and he died within 200 yds but still didnt bleed one drop. Dont hit them just right and it doesnt matter whst broadhead you use, they wont bleed.
  19. Shot a bull elk with one. Wasnt the best shot but blood trail was massive and the bull went about 200 yds and laid down. I bumped him an hour and half later. He ran about 500 yds after i bumped him and he died on the run from blood loss. Broadhead did its job and left me any easy trail to follow. Found the arrow and the broadhead was in good shape with no bent or broken blades. I will definitely use again on any hunt.

    Is it too Late

last year on the archery deer hunt (August) after trying to stalk a big coues deer, I walked down the road back to camp and right off the road I missed a nice muley shed with a triple eyeguard and Average Joe found later driving down the road! it was a nice heavy shed. After being defeated by the mighty coues I don't know how I even found my way back to camp, all I could see was visions of that huge buck that eluded me. LOL! definitely can't find em sittin on the couch! James here is the shed JLW missed Here is the same shed next to a dead head that was sitting not more than 100 yards from someone's trail cam and had obviously been there for quite some time. This coues shed was only about 1/4 mile from that muley shed

    22 or 24b

I have been bow hunting for almost 20 years (on and off) and still dont have a deer kill under my belt. It takes patience. Lol. Shot a turkey and two elk with my bow, but no deer. Seen many deer, had plenty of chances, only shot once in my life and i missed. My point is archery hunting is tough and i too would be happy shooting a muley or a coues. Dont get discouraged, this is not michigan or tennessee where they walk right under you all day and you have two deer down by sunup.

    22 or 24b

Practice practice practice. Be comfortable with your shooting as to leave no doubt in your mind when the shot presents itself. Do not "fling" arrows in a long shot attempt if the deer is outside your comfort zone. Look for sign of deer in an area. If the sign is there, they are there. It will be hot in august in those units. Bring plenty of water and some form of bug spray or blind (or both) if you plan on sitting near water. I cant bring myself to do it due to the mosquitos. I will spot and stalk or still hunt just to avoid so many bugs. The deer are moving very early in the morning. About 30 minutes after sunup it seems they are heading for beds. Then they come back for water during mid day and then come out again right at dark. Plenty of deer in both those units. Do plenty of scouting and just look for good sign. If you sit water near a road be ready for lots of human traffic coming to check on the water hole. It can be frustrating.

Why can't all interviews be this entertaining?

Lol. Perfectly hilarious and a fresh of breath air from the normal news bs. Love how the police siren made him stop and look.
