Dont let everyone get you down. Its not as bad as some say. Just dont hunt where everyone else is. Who cares about people camped everywhere. I had the hunt 3 years ago and saw one other guy the whole time. I was there for seven days, saw plenty of bulls, even one that was around 370 just couldnt get him. I ended up with a smaller 6x6 but was happy about it. I would definitely NOT hunt water as that is where everyone is. I picked the areas between water holes and listened for bugles. Do not cow call, just chase the bugles and bugle yourself occasionally. Find a plateau in between two canyons with nearby water and have fun. Every other reject will be around mormon lake rd, schnebly hill rd, and stoneman lake rd. just keep away from those and you will be fine.

Plenty of spots near florence to get out that far. Florence Kelvin highway isnt too far. Between there and black mountain just find a hill and set up your target. Plenty of flats with a few hills high enough to shoot from and be able to see 1000+ yds to your target. Also a few spots off beeline come to mind. Mesquite wash east side of the rd there are a few areas you can shoot that far. Might have to work at it a bit but it is definitely possible.

I would say somewhere in between you and your kid would be the correct answer. Probably around the 20-30% range. Look at a map of the state and then map out the units that have elk hunts. Easily 20% of the state.

Sorry but sportsmen will never rally together on this subject. Too many sportsmen agree with national monument designation and loss of traveled roads etc. look how many sportsmen and hunters on this site alone agree with wolf reintroduction. It is sickening how many wolf sympathizers are on this site. Take away some tags and its a whole new ball game.

I am looking for a few elk sheds to buy. I have a couple projects to complete and cant get out to go shed hunt again for a while. I cant pay too much but will be reasonable. Well it must be a good guess, maybe an educated guess?!? Maybe they have years of experience doing this? Everyone is a critic and can do it better than the game and fish.

More people applying is a good thing. Means more people are interested in hunting. We cant be selfish when it comes to hunting. I wish everyone would apply for the draw. I wish it was like back east in some places where it is just expected that everyone will be in the woods opening day. Sucks to not draw a tag but dont be upset that there are too many people putting in. It would be a lot worse if it were the other way around.

Just got hit for 114.00 at 4 pm. You guys are funny that say its all done. For the spring draw my card was hit 5 days after my friends card. Be patient...
