Lol, I wish... turns out I have the other high demand $355 tag in 23 š©. I fudged up and thought there was only one high demand tag in there.

I drew a late burro mountain tag šš». I canāt believe it.

And they have an awful tow capacity because of the independent suspension. I think itās like 6k pounds.0

Iāve owned two 2013 3.5s one with a 6.5ā bed and my current one is the 5.5ā bed. Longer bed and longer wheel base handled my horse trailer better but the shorter truck is a lot better off road. I put 203,000 miles on my first one and my current one has 61,000. Both have been great trucks and do a great job towing but youāll get 5-10mpg. They will run a little hot with a big load (8,000lbs) and 105 degrees or hotter between here and flag. It dominates it in cooler weather. Both trucks have a weird intermittent rear door lock actuator issue where about once a month they seize up and you have to manually unlock them. I did change the throttle body on the first one. Overall, Iāve loved both trucks!

Purchased in 2013 but never fired. $250

Price drop. $200

I may regret starting a debate, but would love some input... I need a bigger truck, but am terrified that Iāll hate a diesel for off- road and hunting. Looking at crew cab, short bed 250s and 2500s. Iām looking at 2017-new. Here are some questions. 1.) for those of you who have gone from a half ton to diesel, how bad is the drop off in off-road capability? Did you hate the change? 2.) what are the pros and cons for the ford straight front axle vs GMās independent front suspension? Which is better off-road? 3) donāt worry about telling me about dodges, lol thanks in advance

Thanks for all the input! The wobble is definitely a concern. Iāll have to do some thinkin drinking on it
-
I would like more information on how sponsorships work on here.
-
Yeah, Iāve seen it. From my research, pretty much all solid front axle vehicles are susceptible to that. There was a pretty common ādodge death wobble.ā Certainly not ideal, but there thereās an aftermarket steering stabilizer that supposedly helps. Did you or your neighbor try that? I talked to a friend who had his 2011 f350 do a death wobble, so itās not just these new aluminum alloy trucks.

Thanks for the feedback! A glimmer of hope that I wonāt hate it, lol. I am leaning really hard towards ford, just didnāt know much about the front end difference. My last two trucks have been fords and theyāve been badass.
-
Lol! I might just keep my half ton and own two trucks after watching that. That was painful
-
Yeah, thatās what Iām afraid of... unfortunately, my half ton wonāt pull a living quarters horse trailer. I donāt intend to take it off road fir the sake of off-road, just curious how bad they are for normal hunting situations. Sounds like theyāre as bad as Iām imagining, haha
-
Thanks for the tip. We blew up three stock Cummins engines in my family hauling horse trailers, so I have kind of sworn them off but those were 05s. Iām sure theyāre better now.
-
Iāll call Carli tomorrow and ask a bunch of questions
-
How does that high end suspension affect towing? I imagine swapping rigidity for smooth has to take away from the trucks ability to handle heavier loads, but not sure. There might be a good solution for both applications
-
Got ya. I think that might just need to be the equation with a sxs and a 3/4 ton.
-
My big problem is that Iāll need to pull a living quarters horse trailer, so I canāt do a whole bunch in terms of big lifts and other modifications.
-
I got ya. Thatās true. Iāve thought about buying an ohv of some kind. That might be the best option. Im not sure who carli is
-
Oh, good point. I didnāt even think about that. Iām a ford guy too, so Iām with you. I just assume all bigger trucks suck off-road though and if one is demonstrably better off-road, it would get the nod
-
And diesel and gas engines will perform differently off-road, so Iām not even sure what your original point is
-
Oh, so sorry... didnāt want to write out 3/4 ton throughout my post. Thanks for the technical correction. I get there are half ton diesels now, but my guess is the majority of people know what Iām referring to when I said diesel. Thanks for the valuable input.
