  1. Here’s a great breakdown. Hope it helps.

matthews- a favorite of eastern tree stand hunters and noobs. It’s important to note that every Hoyt, bowtech, pse, and prime fan are closet Matthews fans too.

PSE is for everyone who swears vortex are the same as swarovskis and male domestic partnerships.

prime is the choice of the country’s best, brightest, and most good looking people.

Hoyt is the choice of the prime shooters slightly uglier and dumber little brother.

i hope this completely objective review helps guide your decision.

P.S.- I know you didn’t ask for a bowtech review but bowtechs are for everyone who thinks it’s a good idea to put spoilers on Honda civics.

  2. I guess it depends on what your tiers represent... if it’s based on pure trophy quality, unit 1 is no longer in the top tier. 2015 was the last really good year in there. What I can tell you is if you want to chase 300-330 bulls around unit 1 is the best in the state for those expectations in both numbers of 300-330 bulls and how they rut.

It was tuned at the factory.  Unless you are entering a race you already have a "tune".  You want more horsepower? it will cost you more than the "tune" price.

It has nothing to do with racing or power. When you put on bigger tires all of those factory settings like shift points and speedometer gets thrown off. Just want to align the computer with tires on the truck.

  4. I would like to get my truck tuned for the bigger tires I put on it but everyone I’ve called has told me I need to buy the actual tuner for $500. If I planned on switching tunes all the time I’d definitely buy it but I just want a one time tune. Does anyone know of a place in town that’ll do this?

  5. I’ve owned two 2013 3.5s one with a 6.5’ bed and my current one is the 5.5’ bed. Longer bed and longer wheel base handled my horse trailer better but the shorter truck is a lot better off road. I put 203,000 miles on my first one and my current one has 61,000. Both have been great trucks and do a great job towing but you’ll get 5-10mpg. They will run a little hot with a big load (8,000lbs) and 105 degrees or hotter between here and flag. It dominates it in cooler weather. Both trucks have a weird intermittent rear door lock actuator issue where about once a month they seize up and you have to manually unlock them. I did change the throttle body on the first one. Overall, I’ve loved both trucks!

Research the Ford Super Duty and its death wobble...  I had a 2017, it had it, now I drive a Ram 2500.    Lost a butt ton of money on that Ford.  Good old  Ford claims it was due to the leveling blocks I had installed in the front end.  My neighbor has a new 18 F350 dually with it, can't pull their fifth wheel over 55 before it starts shaking like a dog passing a peach pit.  Theirs is stock.

Yeah, I’ve seen it. From my research, pretty much all solid front axle vehicles are susceptible to that. There was a pretty common “dodge death wobble.” Certainly not ideal, but there there’s an aftermarket steering stabilizer that supposedly helps. Did you or your neighbor try that?

I talked to a friend who had his 2011 f350 do a death wobble, so it’s not just these new aluminum alloy trucks.

Dude I pull my living quarters horse trailer with my f350, daily drive it, hunt in it, and it works for them all. Yes they are rougher but it’s a heavy big truck. If you are worried about the off road ride get a side by side. They will get you where you need to go. I pull trailers with my truck a lot and take it on dirt roads a lot. It will be fine as far as the ride. The new ford is the way to go. That tranny is bulletproof stock and can handle whatever you throw at it. You will be happy going with the 6.7 liter guaranteed.

Thanks for the feedback! A glimmer of hope that I won’t hate it, lol. I am leaning really hard towards ford, just didn’t know much about the front end difference. My last two trucks have been fords and they’ve been badass.

I have a 2011 f250 diesel and a 2016 GMC 1500.  I drove a 2003 f150 for 13 years.  The 3/4 ton is not a hunting rig remember that.  Nothing will out perform a 1/2 ton on 2 tracks, sand, and rock crawling.  With the 3/4 ton, you will have wheel hop that straight up doesn't happen with half tons. You also won't turn as well as the half tons.  They're just a rough riding vehicle out there.  The solid axle is stronger, but how strong do you need to be?  Are you driving the Ribicon or mostly highways?  Unless you're towing 30 times during the year, keep a half ton.  Let's be honest, we work most of the time and hunt only a small amount of time.  The only thing positive about diesels is the buku power.

Yeah, that’s what I’m afraid of... unfortunately, my half ton won’t pull a living quarters horse trailer. I don’t intend to take it off road fir the sake of off-road, just curious how bad they are for normal hunting situations. Sounds like they’re as bad as I’m imagining, haha

    Carli suspension

Truck Vs side by side is really no comparison. I try hard to never have to take my truck over my ranger. A day in the truck might be warmer but you feel beat up at the end of the day.

Budget always decides how smooth of a ride you want

Got ya. I think that might just need to be the equation with a sxs and a 3/4 ton.

My point is why would it matter gas or diesel? What’s your budget?

All trucks suck off road compared to side by sides. If you have a strong budget and plan to use your truck often off-road give Carli a call and set it up correctly.

My big problem is that I’ll need to pull a living quarters horse trailer, so I can’t do a whole bunch in terms of big lifts and other modifications.
