I agree. I usually play 3 sounds per 30min stand. I usually let the call run non stop, but the last few weeks I have been having luck if I turn it off for 1-2 min every 5min or so. Most of the time I just let it play.

Nice Shootin! I have a hard time hitting those little targets. Way to go!

Yup you are right Casey! I was a little worried that we were undergunned. Maybe next year I can get her to take my .338 Lapua. That might be a little safer!

My wife drew a unit 32 rifle pig tag. We headed out from Tucson early opening morning and arrived at our spot about 7:00am. We spent the next 2 hours checking out a few of our favorite spots with no luck. We decided to move over a ridge or 2 and look a little more. Right as I was about to sit down I saw this pig about 200yds below us. There was actually a herd of about 10-12 pigs but this guy was out front. She and I snuck down about 100yds while our friend tried to video the hunt. We got to about 90yds and I set up the shooting sticks, and told her to shoot the one up front. The 1st shot was a little back, but the second finished the job. It was her first kill with her new Browning Xbolt 300wsm. We had him back to the Jeep, and in the cooler by 11:00. All in all it was a pretty good hunt.

Bad Weather Bobcat

I got mine for $29.99 from Cabelas on sale. -
The wife and I went out and braved the nasty weather in search of a Fox or 2. We had a few dry stands, and got caught in a few rain/snow showers. The roads were too muddy to get to the areas we wanted to hunt, so we headed back towards the truck. I decided to make one last stand near a running creek where we had seen some cat tracks on the way in. After a short walk we found the only open area we could setup. We sat next to each other with the FX-3 and decoy about 15yds in front of us. About 23min into the stand, the batteries on the FoxPro went dead. I decided to sit for just a few more minutes, and it paid off. Four min after the call died I spotted this big Tom looking at us through the brush from only 20ft. I was trying to point him out to my wife, but he turned to leave. I leaned out around her, and shot him with a load of Federal 3.5in 1-5/8oz of Heayweight BB's. This is only my second called Bobcat. We snapped a few pictures and got out of there just before the worst of the storm hit. He weighed 20lbs and was 30in long. Tracks The view from where we sat. The back of the clearing was only 22yds. You can see the decoy and the call in the far left side Looking from our spot towards the cat. You can see him through the brush.

Bad Weather Bobcat

Casey, I don't think he ever saw the decoy. I can't be sure, but following his tracks back to where he came, it looks like he never came into the clear before he saw us. The call had been off for more than a minute before he came on in, so he probably never looked towards the call or decoy. I think if the call had been on he may have come right in. Funny thing was, we made a stand about 400yds away from this one about 2hrs earlier. I think the tracks we saw were from this cat comming to that stand, but I broke the stand too early. When we made the 2nd stand I knew he was in the area, so I switched sounds and stayed on stand longer. All that to say, I don't think he saw it. It works great on Foxes though. For the money, I think its a good one. -
shipping firearms
thegunsmith2506 replied to bonecollector's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I just shipped a rifle to New York through the USPS. Most people don't know they will ship long guns. Only cost $20.00. You can get all the regulations on the website. UPS told me $53.00 to ship the same gun -
Look around on the web. My wife bought me one for Christmas and only paid $299.00 plus shipping. As far as sounds go. I like the jack distress sounds for coyotes, and I have several bird sounds for cats and foxes. I also really like the lip squeeks sound for a coaxer.

Remington R-15 Scope rings help
thegunsmith2506 replied to otdrsman's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
How do you like your r-15 overall? I have never owned an AR, but I am really close to buying the r-15. Just not sure if I wanna spend that much money on a coyote rifle yet. Good luck with your scope mounts. Let us know how they turn out. -

Nice job on those foxes! I was just thinking today of a few areas I might try to call one in this weekend. -
This is a small Grey I called in last year. My wife just finished up the mount and base. This was only her second mount. Its not perfect, but I like it a lot.

LOST MY BEST QUAIL HUNTING PARTNER
thegunsmith2506 replied to AZMEATHUNTER's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Sorry to hear about your hunting partner. Its amazing how much those dogs can mean to us. I lost my Lab after 13 years of hunting together. Time is the only thing that helps. -
Its good to see those 2 stickers together on more and more trucks!

+1 I also really like Sam Moore "Mountain Range" http://www.myspace.com/sammoorecountry

Nice job! We got out for a few stands, but couldn't get any into shotgun range. It was pretty cool just to be out in the snow for a little while.

one last time, price drop

I am selling my Ruger .270. It is in fair shape, and shows signs of a few hunts. It is a good shooter, and is in sound working order. It has a painted wood stock, and is missing a little paint in a few spots. It has had about 250rds through it, and shoots 1" with 130gr TSX and Grandslams. I will throw in all the bullets I have if you are a handloader. It comes with a box or 2 of factory ammo. The trigger is set at 3lbs. This is a great hunting gun, we just don't shoot it much anymore. I will sell it with or without the Leupold 3-9x40. I am also willing to consider trades. PRICE DROP> $400.00 without scope Things I would like to trade for: 800yd+ rangefinder foxpro 3.5in 12ga shotgun youth rifles optics

Welcome to the site, and Congrats on the Coati! They are cool little critters and that one looks pretty big. Are you going to have it mounted?

Spent the weekend trying to call in a bobcat. Never did get one in, but we did have some luck on a few coyote stands. Saturday morning I called in 4 on the first stand. I was able to get my first shotgun double. First shot was 15ft with HD BB's, second one took 2 rounds of 00 buck at 62yds. Total we called 7 and killed 5. Also called in a fox, but never got a shot.
