Well Done!

Thanks to my buddy Mark who put the kids on a great field they had an amazing hunt. We had it all to ourselves and it was a target rich environment. I hadn't planned on shooting but once my son was done I used his little 20ga to knock out a limit. We were headed back by 730am with a few limits.

When you have dad reloading and pointing out incoming targets on un educated birds it helps. Today he shot and reloaded all on his own and got 5.

We gave up the rv camping about 10 years ago. Depending on the weather I will usually be in a hammock unless its really cold.

I started my son with a .410 because I had the one I started hunting with. Ammo was expensive and hard to find. He was mostly hunting squirrels and even 3in #4 shot was marginal and he complained about recoil. For Christmas I bought him a semi auto 20ga and he loves it. Ammo is much cheaper with a ton of options and he says it kicks less. With the .410 he would stop shooting after about 10 rounds but now with the 20ga he will shoot 2 boxes with no problem. We killed 2 elk with it last year. They didn't take a step. My brother in law killed his sheep at 400yds and he tipped over and never moved. I agree not my go to elk round but its pretty good.

That's a good point! On the late elk hunts I have run into guys several times just sitting at a glassing spot drinking coffee in case the hunter wants to go there.

I forgot about that. Funny thing is last time I took my boy there he was catching bluegill on a worm and bobber. After a few he caught a fish he caught a trout. But yeah it isn't stocked. We hardly every fish it because of how popular it is.

Bucks on Grand Canyon Blvd should have meal worms. Green Power Bait for trout is good right now. Roads are pretty good right now. I would take the 141rd in from the north its shorter than White Horse Lake Rd. Crawfishing is great now too. If the fishing is slow try Dogtown for trout. Its been really good .

A lot of barrels you buy are short chambered. You have to ream the chamber deeper. Where did you get the barrel?
