Ugh that's not fun. I broke my left one last year, and I'm left handed. If you're right handed I can sympathize with you in your recovery. I was lucky to have broken mine during the off season though so I didn't miss out on any hunts. Still sucked. Good luck on a speedy recovery. Oh and just think. Now you'll have a built in warning system when the humidity gets really high outside. My doctor said I'd be able to tell when a storm was coming as my arm would ache. He wasn't kidding!

not a monster???... pfft... are you kidding me? With a bow- that is a toad of a coues! Huge congrats on a great coues deer!

I had that with and elk I shot one year back. I hit her and she went and laid down... and I mean flat head outstretched down! I figured she wasn't going anywhere but I still sat next to a tree and waited till pitch black dark. She wasn't too far off a two track road so I went and got my truck. When I turned the lights off the road in her direction she raised her head and just looked at the truck. I backed out and waited an hour. Drove up again she lifted her head again. I backed out another time waited more time and then sure enough she lifted her head yet again. I went back to camp and ate dinner and waited till 10pm to head back over and check on her. Pulled up and now there were about 15 elk bedded there with her. I spotted her as she once again lifted her head but this time much slower. I backed out to camp set my alarm for 1am and did the same routine. I pulled up and not a single elk was there! I freaked. I panned with my flashlight and they moved 100yds and re-bedded down. Sure enough my elk was still there but this time the herd bull was in the group so I figured he did all he could to get her to move. I went back to camp and slept for a few hours then was back to the elk an hour before light. I stalked into 30yds before sun up via the moon light and waited till it was sun up. Once it started getting light I could see she was still alive. I worked into 20yds and put 2 more arrows in the vitals opposite side of my first shot. I about passed out as she stood up and started walking quartering away from me. I now had three arrows in the lungs and heart. I emptied my quiver into her vitals and yet she still went another 80yds at a slow walk before hitting the ground. Ended a 9 day solo elk hunt that taught me that an old lead cow elk are one of the toughest animals to kill. cmc

What a hunt.... I mean WHAT A HUNT... what a deer hunt with a toad of a buck to take home with you for the memory of a lifetime! Huge congrats on your success. You guys busted some arse to get him and then to just get you and him out. Hard work pays off indeed. I'll admit that hunting buddies like Andy don't come along to often and to know you can put your life in their hands if the time ever arises is something special. I have that much trust in my hunting buddy when we go out hunting. I just hope he's never put in the position to have to step up to do so but if we end up there some day... I'm confident he's going die trying to get me out in one piece. I'd do the same for him in a heartbeat. Having each others back tends to stretch well outside of just hunting trips though. Cheers to Andy for being there to lend the hand where needed at just the right time. Congrats again guys! What a hunt! cmc

Now that's what it means when they say a picture is worth a thousand words! Awesome job Weston and Lance for sharing the hunt with the rest of us. Love seeing those kids out there in the woods!

Holy cow that's a a lot of..... cats! Awesome job. cmc

Congrats on a cool looking ram! Tough old bugger. I might have some live pictures of that ram from two years ago.... If I do I'll PM them. cmc

Your best bet is to call Johnathan before heading over there to make sure he's on site. He has a full time job outside of the meat processing. If you google the Famous Sams at 2480 W. Ruthrauff Rd in Tucson his shop is in the area behind it. But I highly recommend you call first. I've had some brats and sausage done and would recommend him. cmc

That is very sad indeed. Let's not overlook the fact there are some burglars in Ohio that need to shot dead on the spot for robbing the family blind while they were gone!

I believe what you're looking at it Ragged Top peak. To get there you can take Red Rock exit from Phx or from Tucson take the Marana exit. Yes, far as I recall it's BLM when we were working on the BLM land management proposal for the area that peak was in included. If it's rained recently I'd avoid the area. Washes can get deep and run'n fast. As well it makes for a nasty muddy road out there and back. If you need exact route details email me. I know some guys that have hunted and worked water projects over there. cmc

If I've learned anything in my years of archery is that I gave up saying "I only use XYZ" - I tinker more than ever so it'd be hypocrisy for me to say that today. With that, I say experiment as much as your budget allows. Find what works for you today and go with it. If something new comes around don't feel like you can't give it a try. You can find a ton of used archery stuff in the classified section at archery talks forums. I being left handed love the fact that they have a section dedicated to south paws. I've bought a few items there to try and it saved me serious coin. To the point I could buy a few other items that I'd not been able to if not for the cheap price of the used gear. I need to go through my trail and error stuff and give back to others with the items I don't need anymore. Good luck

Legal... it only needs to be legal this year!

Many thanks for the info guys. Great posts. Congrats the success with your bow. Jealous to say the least. cmc

Who here hunts with a single pin slider? What got you to give it a try and what have you found to be the pro's and con's of using one for hunting. Obviously I'm more interested in the cons as the pro of greater accuracy is a big plus. My issue is all the moving parts and on pack in bow hunts that's an issue with me. My bow has enough moving parts to double them by adding in just the sight has me leery. Thanks cmc

I agree that some like and some don't like the WB. I've tested a few drop aways and for hunting have gone back to a WB. Personal preference that's it. Both shot the same to me. For 3D and target I could live with either one. For hunting you can beat the KISS method the WB offers. I'd also recommend going down to PSE Pro Shop and speak with Sergio or Zach. cmc

Two things jump out at me.... Where are all those folks that were up in arms about trapping the jaguar? Missing paws is common as the wolves are trapped quite often. Many more times than you ever get to hear about. Yet that didn't make front page news. Double whammy on the state or local coffers...

Dennis Erickson is 6-0 vs the Washington schools in his three years at ASu. He is 7-14 in his three years against all the other schools in the Pac-10, and that includes 5 of those wins coming in his first year with DK's recruits. But remember, they are going to be great next year!!

I'm in the market for a trigger job on a T/C Encore frame so if you have someone that you'd recommend I'd appreciate the contact info.
-
Ditto... nice way to capture a great hunt.
-
You can't use "rebuilding" as an excuse now having Erickson that long already.... Sorry... he's a joke and over rated which is why he's such a great fit for aSU. Scoreboard.... Bear Down!

Congrats to the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets....!!!!

I just want to know which one of you already owns a full set of camo from the Human Energy Concealment System folks???? Says it defends you from the 6th sense by containing your electromagnetic field... ya... no joke. Check out the inside cover of Eastmans Bow Hunting Journal for thier add or google them on the web.

Bear Down..... better luck next year.
