Most of the snow is melted off. The golf course was covered but when we left it was all gone. Some of the areas we were driving around had more than a foot of snow other much less. Going to be extremely muddy.

Animal style eating, love it. Congrats on that cat. -
Good looking mount.

Welcome to the bible for coues and almost anything else hunting in AZ.

First time I shot my bow I had the same thing happen. Like seldom said I was never taught how to shoot a bow before that.

If u are in 6a I will be up this weekend. If you or any cwt member needs help please let me know. I will be slaying ducks in the am and scouting during the evening. Rather hunt than scout.

Frustrated with ducks
6ANut replied to khmer6's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Exactly what Adam said unless you have a Honey hole, most duck hunting in AZ is pond jumping at best. -
Elk heaven in 6a for me, someone get me something.

Now we are talking. Those are some bulls. Congrats

73 years young, huge congrats with that smoke pole.

Thanks guys and gals for the kind words. I won't tell you where I have tied any mosnter bulls to trees in 6A but I really cant help myself when it comes to children and ladies hunting. Kids are a no brainer, if I want to hunt when Im 70 I better teach/help some of these young guns, enjoy the outdoors. My wife has started to enjoy hunting more and more; actually sat in the deer blind with me for a day this year, and hopefully a duck hunt this weekend. So when speaking with Mike it was like talking to myself, I wanted to make sure her first elk hunt was enjoyable. Glad she could get one down and drive you crazy till her next hunt.

Great Pic Mike. So glad I could help out and she could tag her first elk. Congrats again.

Looks like a blast of a trip congrats.

As JLW said I'm a scent lock freak. I love to still hunt and get in close. I use the body wash, detergent, spray, wipes, deodorant, heck if the wife wants a hug before I leave, she get sprayed down as well. I hunt with a few people that smell like an ash tray that is taking a number 2 and shocking, they never see much game. I won't even ride in the same truck with them anymore because If I can smell myself when I get out, I'm pretty sure the deer can to. I like to take the top layer off when I get back to camp and either get it in my scent lock bag or throw a little dirt on it. Ps. I'm also that guy that rubs up against a juniper tree every 30 minutes or so. Grab a branch with some berries and rub them onto my gloves, hat etc..... Works wonders. 3:00 am posting thought I had some yotes jump in the back yard and grab our dog, I'm on red alert over here.

I don't have a tattoo but I think mounts are similar, you never just get one.

Huge congrats on a trophy of a lifetime. Buy a lotto ticket for the next few months.

Last year I didnt even need a heavy coat just base layer and light jacket and was getting sunburnt. Not sure what area you are hunting but the Munds Park area (6A) forecast is for 20s in the am with 50 mid day with no real forcast for any weather. I picked up some thicker pants from under armor and those worked perfect with no base layer. I usally have for my top a thermal, light jacket then a light/ heavy coat depending on the weather and strip down when needed. GL, im not even hunting just helping out and I can't wait to eat some turkey on Turkey Day and run up north.

So sorry for your lost. Lucky to have a resting spot like that.

Well this duck season literally flew bye. With all the hunting I had in the fall, I couldnt get out to hunt these tasty lil waterfowl as much as I had in the past few years. That being said limits on the last day, done by 11:00am couldnt ask for more. Shot a real nice Pintail, think he just might make it on the wall. If anyone needs a good simple duck recipe pm me. I can get my mom to think it was steak, that says enough.

Great looking buck and amazing grey color as well.

Amazing job. I can carve up an elk but a five year old could do better carving a pumpkin than I can.

1 year ago today I lost my guide in life, the man who not only taught me the birds and the bees but also the outdoors and how to respect her. What he taught me around the campfire is priceless. My Pa, the boss man, was a man that not one person could speak bad of. At a time like this with the world as messed up as it is, losing people like my grandpa and your grandparents are the are the reason we are regressing as a society. It is happening even on here. Enough with the hijacked posts, where are all the congratulations instead of, "you didn't do it my way." I look at this forum as a piece of my Pa with all the knowledge that is available, it just kills me to see all the fighting among like minded people. Attached is a picture of my first bull and my pa teaching me how to gut it. I love getting bloody. I think about you everyday, Pa, I miss you dearly.
