From what I understand the azgf is only doing what the people asked for more tags than a better quality of hunts. IMO they should have raised tags on some units to please the masses but also leave the trophy units alone to please the trophy hunters. On my deer hunt in 6b their were 250 deer tags and I didn't see one dead deer. You do the math.

Hunting alone for elk is a little different than deer in the terms of when you get one down. One thing I have found that is hard when gutting your elk alone is keeping the body position the same. I now bring some extra rope and tie off legs to trees to keep the body spread open. I have not tried the guttless method yet on a solo elk hunt. 11 days till elk heaven good luck in your hunt.

Totally agree wounded my elk on the 5th day and searched for the next two. I killed my elk that year but gods creatures got to enjoy it.

Pm me of you want I will be up in 6a on the late hunt as well. Buckhorn mtn is a good start I got elk fever an missed a monster near alligator ridge thats right near buckhorn mtn on my first elk hunt. Rule of thumb for me don't shoot a smaller elk till at least the fourth day cause u can run into some real nice bachelor heards. Their will be many hunters hunting that area and also their is an area of road that you will need a rhino, ATV or one serious truck to get pass.

Thanks all for the help lots of miles on the boots and one fork in the horn was seen. Hunted north and south areas of the unit. Did see over 700 elk so I'm pumped for my elk hunt. If anyone needs a lil advice for 6b elk I can help out if needed. Got to see some great country and will upload pics when I get back home. Glad my best friend was able to hunt every day but the last day with his two brand new ankles. Buddy I promise I will get you bloody on the elk hunt.

Had that same problem with my driod last night but it's working today.

Ducks have not moved in just yet up north 6 malllards in 3 hours way to long for up here. After the last 3 years of ducks for days seems slow this year. I have some buddies in Utah and Wyoming when they get their first winter snow about a week after the birds start coming.

After a month long battle at the burn unit my mentor in life and especially hunting passed away. Bob lane a 83 year old native hunter of Arizona his whole life will be truly missed. From dove hunts in the cotton fields, hunting quail and those stinking pigs, his desert big horn sheep hunt, to the last spike elk you took with me in cedar flats I will never forget any of those memories. Thank you for teaching me how to be a man and a hunter. I know you will be watching over me on my deer and elk hunt this year and for years to come. Love you tons Pa I know you have already shot a spike or two in heaven.

I have wounded one big game animal in my life and never found that animal. Worst feeling ever (Morals) for me at least. I stopped hunting that day, didnt try and shoot any others because I had already shot my elk, I just couldn't find it. Thats was my choice to make Ethics Morals whatever you want to call it, Doing the Right Thing. Taking those long shots with Arrows that were just purchased and Wounding three elk it seems more like a personal problem becuase one with Morals and Ethics wouldn't act that way.
