    7mm loads

I haven't loaded for 7mm Rem Mag in quite a few years, but I remember having success with 140 gr Nosler partitions/Ballistic tips with both Re22 and H4831. I'm sure the results would be the same with the 139 Hornadys.

    Savage 110 trigger?

I own two non-accutrigger savages. One has a Timney and the other, a sharpshooter supply trigger. Both are excellent, and fairly easy to install. However, I prefer the latter. Just a little better "feel". I am not sure if they are still being made or not. I had tried a rifle basix (I think) in one of the rifles and found it to be too similar to the factory trigger for my liking.

    Which Scope?

I have owned and used a few of each (one inch tubes, 40mm objectives). Both A/O and non A/O versions on the 4.5s. I still have the 3.5-10s and sold off the 4.5s. Mostly due to better eye relief, more forgiving eye positioning, and better FOV with the 3.5-10. I wouldn't feel handicapped running a 3.5-10 on my elk rifle.

    Ruger .22 handgun comparisons

I have a Mark I that is about as old as I am. It has accounted for the demise of several bunnies, rock rats, and rattesnakes. Fun to shoot and reliable. My kids are currently learning pistol safety with this firearm. There is a "trick" to reassembly. The first time I put it back together, it took a couple of hours. (this was in the pre-youtube days, youngsters). However, once learned, its not a problem at all.

    Daughter's hunt

My 12 year daughter killed her second deer today. After filling last year's tag in unit 12A, she wanted to hunt closer to home this year. She was excited to draw her first choice, youth, unit 33. We spent the last three mornings on the road at 5 and looking for deer sun up. Our hunts were over before 10 each morning. Her hunt, when she says its time to get a thirstbuster and head home, I don't argue. again her tag. We saw deer each day. When we finally found one with antlers, she was able to close the distance to 200 yards and connect. When the 85 gr TSX from her .243 hit the deer, I heard the familiar "smack" and watched him do a donkey kick and disappear into a thicket of mesquite. After firing, she turned and asked, "Did I hit it?.. Did I hit it, Dad?!" She was all smiles when we located her deer. On the way back, she stated, " You know the best part about getting my deer today?" "What's that, Love?" "I get to sleep in tomorrow!" Sigh... A perfect day, punctuated with a reminder that my baby girl is almost a teenager!
