Bastid! I spilled my Diet Mt. Dew all over the keyboard trying to hastily connect to AZGFD's website to find out my drawresults!!!

If you have a really big wad of cash burning holes in your pockets, take a look at David Miller's work. He's in Tucson.

I'll take it. PM incoming...

Scope runs three bills new........... Figure another $400-425 for the rifle. Very fair price IMHO.........
-
How much ya want for them?

I'm a big fan of 165 gr. nosler ballistic tips and reloader 22. My current load uses 78.5 gr. of it. 3250 FPS at the muzzle.

General Jav. in 37b and Turkey 23....... Looks like I get to break in my new travel-trailer this spring!

I no longer have a use for this rifle. Winchester model 70 XTR Sporter Magnum in 7mm Rem. Post 64 (Push feed) action Factory synthetic stock. (I have long since given away the original wood) 24" barrel. Trigger jobbed to a very light 2 lbs or so. Leupold mounts. Some bluing wear on the muzzle and small scratches on the barrel near the end of the forearm of the stock. A few scratches on the triggerguard as well. I bought it used and have put 300 rounds through it since 1998. Shoots 139 grain hornadies and 140 gr. partitions around an inch if I do my part at the bench. Also included:RCBS die set, 100+ peices of brass (20 of the virgin). 40 handloads (67.5 gr. Re 22, 139 gr Hornady moly coated), 20 handloads (63.5 gr. Re 22, 160 gr partition). Would like to sell the whole lot for $400 shipped to your FFL ($375 FTF in or arounf the Tucson area). Also interested in trades for a bolt action in a non magnum cal (especially .6mm rem, 25-06, .308, 6.5x55, any of the 22 centerfires), leica 1200 rangefinder (scan or not), double action .357 or 44 mag, and probably some things I haven't listed. Let me know what you have. PM me with questions or picture requests.

Give More D first shot at it, but if he declines, I'll take it for $100. PM Sent..............

A 150 gr. nosler BT is plenty of bullet for Coues' deer. No need for the extry expense in the partition load.

I have a buck 110 that I bought used aout 20 years ago. With that and my Knives of Alaska cub bear, I can dress and skin out a Coues' buck in under an hour. Once the carcass is back at camp, I've found that a commercial grade meat saw makes quick work of quartering and cutting chops.

When I shot 7mag, I always had good results with 140 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Lately, I've been messing around with 7mm STW and 120gr Ballistic Tips. Awesome groups, but I haven't hunted with them yet; so I can't tell you about their performance on deer or deer sized game.

That's funny, Bass! Reminds me of when I worked in Yellowstone National Park. On our way to town, while still in the park, we'd occasionally stop our vehicle on the side of the road, get out and start pointing to the hills in the distance with our Binos and cameras in hand. Nothing would be there, just wanted to see how many tourists we could get to pull over! Once we had seven vehicle pulled off on the side of the road!

1999 Nissan Frontier 4X4 Pickup. 97000 miles. Body is in very good condition, mechanically excellent. Super reliable pickup! 3.3L V6. XE pkg. Ice cold AC, AMFM cassette. 5 speed manual tranny. BF goodrich 31X10.50s less than a year old. Just replaced carrier bearing and u-joints. Line-X bedliner, 3 spare tires, 2 spare rims. AZ truck, absolutely no rust. $8000 OBO I'd certainly take optics or firearms as partial trade for this truck.

I, too, am a bona-fide Leupold junkie and would second the recommendation that you look at a 4.5-14 or whatever other magnification tickles your fancy. However, that being said, I'm also really impressed with weaver's Grand Slam line of scopes. Lots of glass for the money......... I don't know nuthin' about factory ammo.... Been reloading too long!

The second pic with the sunset (or sunrise) in the background is very cool! Nice photography. Good luck this Sept!

Where to go for good gunsmithing
Couesdeer replied to drgonzales's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I have refinished a few stocks myself and found it to be fairly simple and rewarding to boot. Going slow and steady with a sanding block with progressively finer grits of paper. Make sure not to round out any sharp edges. I've gone down to 600 grit and started rubbing in boiled linseed oil (Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil works too) in progressive layers. After a few coats, the grain will really start to stand out. (i've done as many as 20 coats of oil) There is a ton of information on the web abiout refinishing stocks as well as recipes for oil finishes. If you have some time and patience, its pretty easy. I've never had this type of work done, but if I did, I'd go with Randy Lawson at Harry Lawson's gunsmithing. some of the stocks they produce are spectacular! -
Zeroed on everything except deer. 32 October whitetail. I love unit 32!

These pics make your heart race?

Very cool! Where was it taken? -
This gun has been sold... Thanks all

I have a Smith and Wesson model 22A semi auto that I no longer use. 4 inch barrel, takes standard 22lr ammo. Integral scope bases on barrel. Holds 10 in the magazine+1 in the chamber. Fun little camp gun for plinking around. I am the original owner and doubt that I've put 100 rounds through it. $180 and its yours. Face to face deal in the Tucson area only. (The gun is not expensive enough to justify the shipping and ffl fees.) I'd also consider trades for scopes, reloading equipment, high end synthetic stocks (mcmillan, brown precision, bansner) for mauser 98s, other firearms (I could add cash to boot) or perhaps other items that I'm to tired to think of right now... Let me know what you have. Thanks for looking. JJ (couesdeer)

I checked mine after reading the AZ Draw post, but nothing here......... I hope I didn't get skunked!

Joe Reed at Harry Lawson Gunsmithing (520) 326-1117. He's reasonable, fast, and knows his craft!

Yep, That's my stock. I bought it used thinking it was for a long action, but alas... it didn't fit! I kind of like the rubber coating. feels good to shoulder, but the darn thing is about twice as heavy as a factory synthetic stock. Perhaps I am becoming a "stock snob" as i am slowly replacing all of my factory stocks out with Mcmillans.... Pricey, but I really like them! JJ (couesdeer)

I no longer have a use for this rifle. (7STW and 300 Win have effectively taken her place) And I cant stand to see her sitting in the back of the safe jealous of the rifles that get used! Winchester model 70 XTR Sporter Magnum in 7mm Rem. Post 64 (Push feed) action Factory tupperware stock. (I have long since given away the original wood) 24" barrel Trigger jobbed to a very light (almost too light) 2 lbs or so. Leupold mounts Some bluing wear on the muzzle and small scratches on the barrel near where the end of the forearm of the stock. Scratches on the triggerguard as well. I bought it used and have put 300 rounds through it since 1998. Shoots 139 grain hornadies and 140 gr. partitions around an inch if I do my part at the bench. Also included: RCBS 3 die set (neck sizer, FL sizer, and seater) 98 peices of brass (20 of the virgin) 40 handloads (67.5 gr. Re 22, 139 gr Hornady moly coated) 20 handloads (63.5 gr. Re 22, 160 gr partition) Would like to sell the whole lot for $400 shipped to your FFL.
