  1. This may be a longshot, but here goes:

I bought four tickets to Sunday's game against the Packers and only need three. While it would be nice to have the empty seat next to me, it would be better if i could recoup some of the costs.

Section 137, row 32, seat 13 the ticket's face price is $85 and that's what I'd like to get for it. (after convenience fees and whatnot, my actual cost for the ticket was just over $100)

If you're in the Tucson area, I'll even give you a ride to and from the game. If not, We can meet at the game....

Oh yeah, there's a catch. We'll be sitting with my wife and father-in-law... They're huge packer fans... sigh..

  2. Most of my pre-season shooting consists of blowing up milk jugs filled with water at various distances. However since this year was my first time messing with elevation turrets instead of holdover, I did shoot this group at 495 yards. (Prone off a bipod and a rolled-up towel under the buttstock)

I didn't put a tape measure to it, but I'd reckon its somewhere between 5 and 6 inches....

One of my buddies has abandoned the 140 grain bullets in favor of heavier Berger offerings with a greater BC.... I just have so darn many 140s.....

  4. Lark is dead on regarding the ballistic performance between the two cartridges.... In my rifles (one winchester 70 and one remington 700, both sporting 24" shilen tubes), I am getting 3250 fps with a 165 gr. bullet in the 300 Win. and 3165fps with a 140 gr bullet in the 7mm mag. That being said, there is a noticable difference in recoil. the 7mm Rem. is much easier on my shoulder. I know stock design is a major factor in felt recoil. Both of my rifles have Mcmillan stocks duplicating the shape of the factory offerings.

Regardless, both will kill deer and elk out as far as you can be accurate.

If'n it were my decision, I'd be all over the 7mm. the savage is a good rifle, but i like the "feel" of howa 1500s a bit more... Plus I am not a big fan of muzzlebrakes or toting around more weight (hvy barrels) than I need.

  5.

I teach spacial education at public school in the Tucson area. Have been working with students in grades K-8 for ten years now. If you are a parent of a special needs child, you know how confusing the sp. ed. process can be. Feel free to contact me if you are in this situation.

  6. hello - such high fence areas/ranchs - have imported eastern/texas whitetails for yrs. note the center picture of th e thick racked buck - - the huge white neck patch - this patch is NEVER seen on real coues deer !!! Gary

Sorry Gary, I wasn't clear in my first post. I am aware of fenced in operations, such as in TX... I guess I meant to say i never heard of hunting Coues' behind fences.

Didn't realize this topic had been brought up here before. Sorry for all the excitement. Carry on, folks....

  7. +1 on boning them out in the field. If done correctly, you'll have a pile of entrails, ribcage, backbone and hide (if no taxidermy) left out for the coyotes and ravens. I prefer to leave the bones in the hams and shoulders (gotta have a few soupbones!)

I carry a handful of homemade game sacks (look like pillow cases) and get the chunks of meat into them to cool everything down as well as keep the bugs, and debris off.

Meat gets transferred to plastic bags before going on ice. Keeping the meat dry inhibits the growth and spread of bacteria that can spoil the meat.
