He could end up being a good respectable bull, those pics are still so early in the growth cycle. Its surprising how much and how fast they can grow. My 2014 bull was a little 5x5 middle of June. By August he has sprouted into a 6x6 with 55" beams. My pics are all for certain the same bull, tons of pics on tons of cams of him all that year.

On the guide question, depends on what you want. If you would be happy with a 180" buck, do it yourself, take some tips from guys who will offer and what game and fish says about unit and go for it. You should have no problem if you hunt hard the whole hunt. The odds of getting a really big deer go way up if you hire a guide. A very large majority of the biggest bucks are taken with guides involved(either hired or guides who are friends). Those are the facts. The good guides are the most knowledgeable about the area and bucks, spend the most time, effort, and money on gathering that information. If you would really like a good chance at a giant, $5,000 over your lifetime for a guide is probably worth it. 15 years from now, what are the chances you will regret spending the money on a guide?

Should AZGFD eliminate the youth muzzleloader hunt in Unit 16A (Hualapai Mountains)?

I think the youth rut hunts should be rotated around. Not just the same unit every year. -
Whats the longest youve left an Elk in the field

I have never heard that leaving the bones in helps cooling off, that makes no sense. You shouldn't just throw all the meat in one big ball in a big bag, it has to breath and get air to all parts, but bones hold heat from my experience. -
I got an archery deer tag charge earlier this afternoon.

Want to take the 4 kids up to fish tomorrow. Shoreline. I don't really like catching stockers for some reason. Does anyone know if there are any hot spots for Crappie or Bluegill or even cats at any of the Williams lakes? We used to slay the pan fish when I was a kid 20 years ago at Cataract lake and McClelland lake but a few years ago had no luck. Thanks

Took a 16 mile hike to save these guys several weeks back.

Cow and late hunts are often very tough in 10

If my wife saw that lion pic she probably wouldn't let me go out on my solo trips any more

Truarms.com has Athlon scopes, and spotters on sale, you have to email for prices. After reading and seeing good things about Athlon, I'm going to try out a spotter.

Animals notice them many times when they are first put out, even if you brush them in, so from a game standpoint, it is good to leave them out at least a few days before you plan to hunt it. Get chairs that are comfy, easy to move in, and quiet ideally.

It sounds like this thread is talking about what the regs call "Nonpermit-tag required" hunts. Theres OTC hunts are very different from the actual "Limited Opportunity" hunts that are all draw hunts that can be very good hunting if you find where the elk are hanging that year.

I suspect its over, except for very very few problems tags getting passed on due to bad credit cards. Let the mourning begin.

Who has verification of the time their hit occurred after 8:30? Hoping they are still doing batches.

Congrats again Blake. Have you or will you have him aged? Would be curious to know the age of basically what has to be the MAX size deer in the area. 5, 7, 9 years old? Would be awesome to know. -
Just looked up the online payment cutoff date(March 16th). Does anyone know the purpose of having over a month between the draw application cutoff (Feb 14th) and the update online payments date? Is it required based on some statute or process they have to perform?

You got some special treatment! I think the year that my wife drew but had a credit card issue, when they called us to get a good card, they lady did tell us what hunt it was.

You have to have proof that you have taken an approved course. I called about it last year, I brought a copy of my AZ course completion certificate into the sticks with me.

Is there an Arizona salt company I can hurry up and buy stock in?

Yeah what if you want to sit a random water one night, and somebody you don't know left a camera on it 8 months ago and is never coming back for it? You OK as long as none of them are yours haha?

I use trailcams, and love using them. Its alot of fun for me and the kids to see what wildlife is around locally, and it assists in scouting and no doubt increases odds of success to some degree, depending on the hunt and area this can really increase odds of success a large amount. The only big problems I see are the very very popular water sources for certain elk and mule deer areas that we all are familiar with and hear about that have many trailcams on them. This begins to affect the animals natural behavior, people checking cams every day all day, and because there is so much traffic at the water source, they begin to change their habits, people start fighting over who can sit the water etc. I don't have a solution for it, but it seems like a huge over-reaction if they were to say no trailcam on water in the whole state. If they do consider or pass a rule, it would be interesting to see if they say only during hunting season that you cannot, or if it is any time ever.

Looks like helicopters is the method of choice to kill off the hogs in the refuge:

I've been wanting to get up there for it but never have. Maybe next year.

Yeah I could not help but wonder why they can see and react to Pig problems so simply but have a different reaction to the Burro problems just up the hill... Burros are more cuddly I suppose, and have some federal protections of some sort.

To answer the original question, it looks like either it was not a normal McKenzie form, or it was altered, as the head is tipped upward more than normal, almost like the bull is looking up the hill type of thing. That makes sense for that room since the mount is so low on the wall. Normal semi-sneaks have the head angled down slightly with eyes pretty straight... my unprofessional opinion!
