cjl2010, it isn't so much the fee, its access, it is that out of 125 archery bull tags, only 30 (50 * .6) DIY hunters are allowed on the part of the unit where historically most of those 125 would have been hunting.

Website says first come. Is that to the door of their office, cell phone call, or email?? Are proxies allowed? If its door, I can set up a small proxy service and have any number of people to the Seligman office door within an hour, for a fee of course:)

I have heard nothing that would indicate that the BO would allow a secondary market to be created. Sounds like it is a one for one deal. If they wanted to do that, they could charge that high amounts themselves. Most of the residents that draw the tag would not be willing to pay $10k. Most don't even pay for a guide. There is only a market where there are willing buyers. I don't like $500, but I'm sure they will sell all their access passes for that.
-
They will all be somewhat different. 5% of the tags are being treated differently. New bonus points will make resident people under max have lower draw odds than they would have, all things held equal, to last year. Residents in the max pool would be better off than last year.

This story is just getting more and more unbelievable. So amazing! Congratulations on all three counts.

Although the effects won't be huge, all of the past probabilities will be wrong/different for this year because of the new treatment of the max point pass for nonresidents and how this effects residents. Residents up at max will be in a better position, residents with few points will be a little bit worse off I think. (Example from low number of bonus points RESIDENT perspective: Hunt with 100 tags, 20 go in max draw that low point people would not have had a chance at in old way anyways, so 80 tags that you really have a chance at. But now, 5 of the remaining 80 tags CAN go to non-residents. So in alot of cases, since many of non-residents have many points, most or all of those 5 non-resident random draw eligible tags will be gone, so low-point resident guy only has a fair chance at 75 remaining tags where before he had a shot at 80 tags without non-residents having the possibility to draw them.) It basically just shifts 5% of tags from under max residents to max residents, so max point guys have a higher draw rate, lower point holders now will have a lower draw rate. If my understanding is correct.

Big Bo website says " There will be some changes to the access permit fees in 2016…… The new fee structure and ranch rules will be posted in mid January.

"A technology or practice that allows a hunter or angler to locate or take wildlife without acquiring necessary hunting and angling skills or competency." I wonder what their examples of this would be other than drones? Trail cams that send instant text messages to phones? Anything else?

I couldn't see where this had been discussed yet here. Every bull elk hunt in unit 10 has significant tag decreases scheduled for next year. "And much cheering commenced from serious hunters in every corner of Mohave County" haha. I have heard mostly complaints about quantity, quality, and age class up there the last few years from those I know, so it sounds like the department is reacting. http://azgfdportal.devaz.gov/PortalImages/files/hunting/guidelines/commOrders/S-2%20Pronghorn%2C%20Elk%20and%20PMH%20Hunt%20Recommendations%2011-19-2015.pdf

Anyone know if this bull was killed? Got him on trail cam one single time. I know it may be tough to tell. Big devils points and a kicker point on left antler. Never saw him while scouting or during the hunt. Central Yavapai County multi unit. Thanks

Atkinson and one of his pricey deer are still on their facebook page lol https://www.facebook.com/189502424437750/photos/a.249071028480889.67799.189502424437750/747992535255400/?type=3&theater -
Has anyone seen the "Garage Mahal"? The house has more trophies than the garage. Long time local family friend.

Effects of so many monsters killed on the strip this year
Sneaker replied to bonecollector777's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
The genetics are there, even if the age class drops, the younger bucks still have the genetic potential. Also don't forget, these areas border the national park that always have mature monsters living on them all the time every year. Friends saw several while hunting 13a this year that were living the high life in the safety of the GC Park areas... -
It is an awesome year to have a tag up there.

One of my cameras has been on a G&F catchment all summer. Lots of game coming in, a couple good bucks. Camera is like 12' up in a tree. The last time I go check it, someone had climbed the tree and physically rotated my camera like 90 degrees so it isn't facing the water any longer, and a different camera is now mounted on a tree right at the water. Thanks for not stealing my camera, seriously, thanks. Then by chance, a few days later, I'm on Facebook and see a picture on a Guide Service from Prescott's page from that very camera and one of the nice bucks at the water!! I didn't see it happen, but it makes a guy wonder... Good luck on everyone's hunts! and don't forget to smile for all of the trail cameras that are taking your picture without permission;)

From what I have seen, both deer and elk will tend to go to waters that are not hammered by cattle if they have prevalent options. One good example: I had a game camera up in Yavapai county on a game and fish water this summer. Averaged at least three game species a day hitting it in the hot days of summer, mostly deer, elk, javelina, and lions. Somebody left the gate down or the cattle busted through and almost lived on the water for about 5 days and during that time only 1 doe came in, at night. The next person that came along got the cattle out and shut the gate, wouldn't you know it, immediately all the game started coming back to "their" water...

That is an awesome buck, congratulations.

I can't stand bumping into other hunts, I head the opposite direction as fast as I can usually. In your situation, I would have been taking a picture of his vehicle's VIN number while he was gutting his animal and sending it to the local officer.

Nice! What a Muley spot!

Show us some pics and we'll shower you with compliments!

I bought one of Dell's small powerful business laptops that was used, several years old, certified refurbished, new operating system, off of new egg. Turns on in like a minute, can do anything you need with photos and videos, pics always in one place now.

If my budget was $100 I would buy 2 $50 tascos and cover twice the area. They don't shoot far at night, and aren't magazine print quality, but get the job done if you want to know what's there and the batteries last forever.

Does anybody know who is running some of these cameras in 17a? I would like to make contact with them. Pm is fine. Thx

I would rent it too if I had a hunt in that area.
