    WTB bowfishing gear

I've been checking and there's a lot of bows out there. I'm looking for just a bare bow under $100. The rest I can pick up in a package kit for another $100-$150 or so. Thanks for the tip.

    WTB bowfishing gear

Thanks for the tips. I guess I'm open to bows with cams as well then. If you've got one in good shape you want to get rid of for under $100 let me know. Again 27 or 28 inch draw will work.

    WTB bowfishing gear

I'm no expert but from what I've heard the bows take a ton of abuse and the cams just can't handle all the dirt, sand and being dropped on the ground and the boat etc. Hopefully some of the seasoned veterans around here will chime in and prove me wright or wrong.
  4. Thanks again fellas! Just dropped off the hide a couple days ago at the taxidermist. I'm still trying to decide on what mount to do. For sure a pedestal of some sort. Really looking hard at a stand alone style with possibly two bucks. Guess I'll have to go back down and kill another one next year!
  5. The full story is here on our blog. http://azhuntingadventures.blogspot.com/ It's a pretty long read with lots of pictures so for those who just want to see the end result, here ya go! Found them soley by cutting tracks in the snow and following them until we caught up to them. 30 yard shot through both shoulders. She was a giant and still never took another step!

I'm excited for my first season this year. I still need a whole set up and a few misc items for a bare bow though. Been waiting in hopes of finding some deals.

    Kaela's First Pig!

A little late with the story, but I have a good excuse. I left for my first coues deer hunt in Mexico 2 days after she killed this pig. Around September or so of 2011 I bought my girlfriend her first bow after she expressed so much interest in joining me on my archery hunts. She busted her arse shooting every day to get ready for the 2012 archery pig hunt. I tried a brand new tactic that year and it was a miserable failure to put it nicely! She never saw a pig. She was not deterred, though, and continued to shoot and improve her skills all summer long. Come August she joined me on the deer hunt and nearly shot a gorgeous 3x3 coues! She stalked him all the way to 30 yards while he fed and just like those coues deer always seem to do he noticed her while she waited at full draw for him to clear the bushes. Game over! Fast forward to a couple weeks ago on opening day of this year's pig season. With the help of a great friend Kevin, I think he goes by azhunter85 on here, she and I had a plan and we were ready! Here's a link to our blog with her story! http://azhuntingadventures.blogspot.com/ This was also my first real attempt and running a camera on a hunt. The footage turned out pretty decent. I have a few things to learn still, like don't point the camera at the ground! Oh and make sure the dang lens is clean! haha. Rookie mistakes for sure! I strongly urge you to watch all the way to the end of this video. It's a stripped and cut down version to make it easier for you to download. Kaela worked so hard for this pig and after a couple heartbreaking misses she finally gets it done and proceeds to completely break down afterwards. It's not often that we get to capture such an emotional moment on film but I'm sure glad I did. Harvesting your first big game animal is a memory that all us hunters will never forget! http://youtu.be/vaZ_oj9NwkQ
  9. Chef, That left side is the reason I decided to take him. It looks even better in my hands! Cramer, Even with the disappointment in the quality of bucks on our ranch I am still hooked after just one trip! It's a whole different world down there. Thanks for the comments!

    Kaela's First Pig!

That was me, Coach. I had the camera in one hand and the rangefinder in the other. The calls were in my pocket but I had no time at all to get them out so I just started woofing like crazy. It worked well!! I think in all there were 7 or 8 pigs that came right in from various sides of us. Only a couple made the final video cut.

    Kaela's First Pig!

Thanks for all the nice comments! She appreciates it very much. Dug, The pigs were all woofing like crazy but what you hear on the video is me. I have 25-30 minutes of footage of just this stalk. The pigs went nuts when she missed and I started woofing at them. They were all around us! Casey, She snuck the arrow in basically through the armpit. It went all the way through the length of the pig and exited just in front of the rear leg. The pig got half of it out and broke it off when it did the death spin under that tree. It was a perfect shot for that angle!

    6.5x284 questions

You would think Norma would be the good stuff. I did anyway. Once I get through all my Norma brass ill go to Lapua.

    6.5x284 questions

I've noticed the same with my 6.5x284 only with no real consistency. Some primer pockets are fine after 6 firings and some pockes were too loose to hold a primer after 1 firing.
  17. The published BC for the 140 AMAX in a 6.5 is .585. What are you getting for your true BC??
  18. BML

any idea what it is worth?

Hey Bruce. I might be interested in the .284 bullets if you decide to sell and split stuff up. I'm in no rush so its up to you. Let me know.
  19. Upgraded the shoes on my new truck so these are for sale. They are nearly brand new with only 2500 miles on them. Asking $500. Let me know if you have questions. I am located up in Prescott Valley, but I can probably arrange delivery to the valley or Flagstaff for around $20-$30.

Need a shoulder to cry on

I have a similar story that may help a little. I shot the buck in my avatar at 42 yards. He was quartering hard to me. A lot harder than I thought. I settled the pin behind is front leg and let it go. I hit exactly where I was aiming but it was so far back from the hard angle it missed the lungs. It passed through him with a distinct hollow pop sound. I immediately knew I blew it with the shot placement so it was several hours before I even started to look for him. I followed blood, chunks and tracks due west from the first blood for hours. He would do all sorts of things but still headed west. Searched for hours and nothing. My brother was helping me and just for the heck of it he went back to the first spot and went east. He found my buck less than 200 yards away dead as dead could be. My point is that they just do unpredictable stuff when they are mortally wounded. He's probably still there somewhere very close. Hope you find him.
  22. Nice work! I can't even find a bear and you guys put 2 down at once. Great job.
