    Rutting

I glassed and watched a 2x2 mule deer buck rutting a whitetail doe really hard yesterday. It was a lot of fun to watch. Its crazy how well those animals can move in steep nasty country.

Hunting with a friend who has a tag

There is nothing illegal about carrying a gun with you while someone else is hunting with you. If you are properly licensed, do not break game laws, there is nothing legally that they can do to you. They wouldn't even touch it in court unless they have physical, observable evidence that you broke a game law. If you are concerned about it, purchase a lion tag and you are 100% in the act of hunting for an animal that you are properly licensed to hunt. You are still even properly licensed if all you have is a license anyways. You are hunting coyotes or anything else in season. Don't worry about or stress out. If you are not breaking laws then you have nothing to be concerned with. Remember, for them to cite you, they have to have evidence that you broke or were in the act of doing something illegally. To carry a weapon with a proper license does not constitute you breaking the law. Even if you are helping someone carry out an animal...... heck for that matter, save the entry point on the animal to check caliber size. Not a big deal at all unless you make it one.

Coueszilla, better to be lucky than good

Great sheds Gary. I've seen some first hand and they're awesome. Didn't see a plug for euro mounts and skull cleaning..... one of the best there is.

A little help on 22s late hunt

Exactly. This comes from very recent experience in this unit too. Rag horn city is what this unit could be dubbed.

A little help on 22s late hunt

If you think "only 60" tags isn't a lot you'll find out that for this hunt its way too many. The quality of bulls in 22 south isn't real great anymore. Its only gonna go downhill from here. Yea the mats up high is where you'll find a decent bull. But be prepared to pack out

Hit the mazatals. Glass and look high. There will definitely definitely be bulls there.

    Processing bulk venison sausage

For your burger, I'm not quite sure if you're going to use beef fat or not but that's what I use. Grind up your fat before you do your meat and add to your liking. I believe I found my palate desired about a 90/10 content. Finding some good corn fed beef fat is great to add into your ground meat for burger.

The Buck I Never Dreamed Of

His G2's are something special that you don't find on too many coues deer. I really like how his frame from his g3 forward looks. It almost looks like his g2's just shoot out from nowhere when you look at the last picture that you posted here. If this buck truly only scores 112 or so inches, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The character on this buck is phenomenal and this is a great buck to showcase as a coues deer; it is one that a very select few would ever pass up. I know I wouldn't ever consider passing a deer like this. What a great looking animal. I love the color of his rack as well. All around great deer.

    Big Muley!

Prime example of why anyone wanting to post pictures should reconsider. I would bet this thread gets the ol "lock" before too long.

    2014 Late Rifle 23,27,22S, or 10

A lot of it would depend on weather. It sure would bite to spend all your points on a late rifle tag only to be limited in what you can do due to high snowpack etc. Granted, its been a while since a late rifle bull hunt has been in trouble due to weather, however it can happen. Having said that, it can also be so dang warm you might have to consider spoilage if you kill a bull several miles in and you are the only source of getting your meat out. It appears that 22 south has minimal tags, however I feel that 60 tags for this unit and hunt is overkill due to the huntable places that exist in the unit. There's places to get away and you can kill a very good bull by doing so but don't think you will be in there alone with the tag increase. If I had to choose, if I were in your shoes, I would put 23 first and 22 south second due to the lower elevation. Just my opinion.

    140" Rumors...

Have some respect for the hunter if he doesn't want it posted. Holy cow. To say post up a picture on the internet of a guy that is probably clueless to it being posted is ridiculous. If he wants it posted I am sure he will hear about this site and post it.

question on clothing on a late elk hunt ?

I would keep an eye out on the short term forecast as it gets close and adjust your clothing accordingly. I personally don't like to have a lot of heavy warm clothes even when the temps are on the colder side. Some people do though. A good jacket, some under armour type material along with your camo..... some matches to start a fire would be good to have too invade you get chilled.

    Payson Area Processor?

Last year Noah was mixing breakfast sausage. I am not sure if he does sticks or summer sausage. You might see if charlies in town does it..... not sure though.

You won't meet a better person and quality worker than Noah. Great, clean facility. Hands down a great processor.

    WTB stihl Chainsaw

Even soft wood that's pushing it for a 036 not that it cant do it but i wouldent want to push a 60cc saw that hard for too long ....... I would much rather have a 440 460 or 372 for that for the pound extra of saw you get wayyyy more power!!!!! There's no replacement for hp and torque. I would rather have a pinch too much saw then not enough. Once you've ran a big saw compared to the lower end models there's no comparison as to what you can get done in a day. On the heavier side, correct, but there is a place for a high end high powered saw, mid range and lower end saws. Something 70+ CC is good to have and can do a lot in a days worth of work. Anyways, I figured this would get a lot of opinions but still looking. Thx for the input.

    WTB stihl Chainsaw

Bruce,The old man has an echo 4... model and runs well. Having the 660 side by side running together it out performs the echo handily. Echo is a good line and I don't knock them. The power the 660 has is where I would like to be but if a deal came up on something like the 461 I would be on it. The 044, 048, 056, 066 etc would be up my alley too.... just need to find them. I don't think I need to go over these saws. Thx for the input guys.
