Don't pay him any attention. That's what the guy fuels on. Its evident, "I love it when people read my posts". I feel really bad for the guy making these kinds of comments, imagine what's coming to him when he gets judged in the end. WoW. I don't understand how you could WANT to make comments like that. Its really sad. I hope and pray his children and wife never have to hear or read such hurtful comments about someone they love so dearly. Lark, you made me laugh. Nice.

IMO, once a sounder has been called in using a call, they wise up to it for a while. I've had pigs come barreling in before, some take off like pumba with a lion on its tail. If you can get onto a sounder that hasn't been called, I think your chances of having them come in are good, with a javelina call or even a rabbit distress call as well. Called them in with both. Just gotta find the right pigs. Stalking in on them can be a huge rush too. When they're going to town rootin' around, a guy can get in EXTREMELY close. That's as much of a rush as blowin' a call IMO. Good Luck

That is a stain on the antlers. Was picked up white antlered. I have dreams of taking one this big someday. It's hard to grasp how big he is until you see it in person and hold it. He looks big in some of the pictures, but in real life.............

ATV's I would Not give up my ATV for anything . It beats bouncing around in a cab when I'm scouting .(Unless it is cold outside) . As for the hunting trip I never use it unless I'm hauling out an elk , then again its PRICELESS. I'd sure rather beat up an ATV than my truck. Helps you to get where you need to be in a hurry. Use it to get to a hiking spot and go.

I have looked through the Brunton's before and they were pretty nice glass. They seemed to be really clear, but gave me cross-eye after looking through them for a while (that's just me). I looked through a guys 15 Minox before and they did the same thing for me. Like many have said, keep saving for the really good glass. Many guys will say to save til' you have enough to get them and forgo a cheaper pair, but I think you should buy a lower end to get you by for the mean time, then save for the really good glass. It'll happen. Just stay determined.

This guy is 15 and all he really has are dreams. But I give the kid alot of credit for what he tries to do at a young age I agree with you 100%. I don't think you're gonna find too many 15 year olds that have the drive for hunting this young man has. Great back up GameHauler.

Shoot bud, I'd be plum tickled with him. I have the archery hunt right now too, and to tag a bull with a bow in November is no easy task. Congratulations on a fine November Archery Bull.

What contributes most to harvesting MONSTER BUCKS
Coues79 replied to coues7's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Luck is always part of the equation. You can NEVER tell a deer where to be, how to stand, when to drink or anything else for that matter. Even all of the scouting that one can do, there is still luck involved. The quote on being prepared helps to be lucky is right on the mark. Scouting helps tremendously and will give a person a better idea on what is in the area. It will put the hunter into a better situation to be lucky when that time occurs that a big buck will show itself. Scouting and luck. That's how I feel. -
Thanks Doug. Here is another website http://www.huntstats.com/besttimes.php?m=1...p;submit=submit

Circumstances allowed for none other than having to take my 2 year old with my wife and her on her elk hunt a few weeks back. He had a great time and actually watched my wife pull the trigger on a cow. Although he is young, it is great to get him in the hills and to be exposed to the hunt. If we talk about introducing weapons and such, IMO its got to be done later. A couple posts before mentioned some really good info. on introducing weapons to yungins, which had some great information. Although I disagree to the exact ages to a degree, it is better to error with caution rather than have a disaster happen. Using good judgement, parents and adults must be able to draw the line and know when it is appropriate. Kids will have a blast just carrying a BB gun or a .22 in the hills for a long time. Heck, my 8 year old nephew just blasted a coati on Saturday with a .22. What a great experience for him! Good thread with a good topic.

The 104 is a flat out awesome pack. There is not a whole lot of difference in the two packs, as I have seen them side by side. I own a 104 and the suspension and distribution of the weight is awesome. I think its 4500 cc without the additional pack that you can add. Its a flat out huge pack that can haul some serious gear. I love it. There could be a few more compartments added to these packs for smaller items, however the comfort of the pack makes up for everything.

If I were to kill a buck/bull way in somewhere, I would have to say a knife. I've left the tripod before. Sure does suck. Makes me feel like the day is a waste without it.

Stud buck right there. Cool deal to see that you found him again this hunting season. Congratulations.

I think this would be a good thread to pin for all to see. Doug has a great list. Many could benefit from this thread.

Great job! Killer buck!

That's a real bummer deal man. I'm really sorry to hear that news, after being drawn for a tag, arrowed a nice bull, then that happens. Sorry bud.

Best week in January to try and catch the rut.
Coues79 replied to inline's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You have a good time planned if you stick with that time frame. I think it is best the 2nd week in January. Hopefully there will be good winter moisture so that many does will cycle this year. -
Out of Ignorance- nonpermit-tag
Coues79 replied to Buzz_Saw's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Please forgive me, but I am brain damaged. Really. Traumatic Brain Injury. BLUF- I do not understand what a nonpermit-tag is and what privileges and requirements adhere. Please explain, somebody!! A non-permit tag is one that does not have to be obtained through the lottery process of issuance of big game tags. In other words, you can purchase them over-the-counter at local AZGFD vendor i.e. Wal-Mart, Sportsmans Warehouse etc. These non-permit tags usually offer a generous hunting season, however, per species the legal method of take will be restricted. i.e. Archery deer for most units is a non-permit tag during the early fall, and in December and January. There are a few species in which have rifle hunts that are non-permit hunts but you must read up on, on the AZGFD website. Some have specific areas that you must adhere to, or, will tell you the specific season/time/legal game. The elk that you are referencing in 31 will be very hard to find, and I believe you must obtain the non-permit tag at an AZGFD office (not 100% sure, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Good luck finding the elk! Here are a few links that may be helpful. Good luck. http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/BigGameDrawingProcess.shtml http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/OverTheCounter.shtml http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/downloads.shtml
