Big Congratulations!! Cute little guy!!

Mindin' your own business then all the sudden, some giant flying thing shoots a net on ya . Can't move, get your legs tied up, get hoisted into the air and dangled by a thread and start flying . Get let down, bi-pedal monsters get you and stick a finger up you know where, leave something behind in there, get let go and not to mention, carrying twins . Man, what a day in the life of a deer. Cool pics Amanda. Thanks for sharing them and the study!

C'mon guys. Gotta have a little faith. I'm prayin' for it!

I don't like that the only option to hunt for more than one weekend is with the Dec. hunt. I really liked the two weekend Nov. hunt, specifically because the unit that I hunt is quite a ways from where I live. I can only hunt for a weekend or possibly a long (3 day) weekend. If I didn't kill, I could go on to the next weekend. Can't do that anymore. I do like that all the hunts are seperated and do not overlap. It will be nice to have less hunters in the field. With this being the first year, it will be interesting to see the percentage of draw rate next year for this different hunt structure. I wonder which hunts will be the hardest to draw (besides the Dec. hunt)? I imagine the easiest would be the second coues hunt? Who knows. A lot to consider anyways.

Elk Impacting Your Coues Hunts?
Coues79 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Doug, I remember a while back, a thread about the proposed changes to coues hunts. Are they going to move the Nov coues hunt to that weekend after Thanksgiving? If so, I can see how a Nov. deer tag would be obsolete to the Bull tag. -
It still says spring results, however when you get to the results, it does say if you were drawn or not for winter. Goose eggs for me, wife and dad. That sucks

How much longer.... THE POLL!
Coues79 replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Everything was up except for the "You were drawn for". It said something like, "for the mid-winter draw" and then cut-off. It didn't say "You were drawn for" or "You were not drawn for." Definitely toyin' with us right now. -

Waiting until a Friday to post results would seem irresponsible to do, considering that if the system goes down, it is possible that it would be down for an entire weekend. I don't think they would do that. I bet its a weekday sometime, hopefully soon. -
If you got the money, go with KOWA.
-
Hmmmmmmmm. Very Interesting
-
I haven't seen anything mentioned about Kowa. I haven't been real big on spotting scopes, but I have looked through a swaro and a kowa and IMO, the kowa had it beat. You save some money with them and get an incredible spotting scope. It was an 88 mm objective. You probably won't get too much support for it, but if you have time, take the time and go compare. I think you might like it http://www.kowascope.com/frontend/proddisp.asp?co=10000375

I have a Bogen/Manfrotto 728 B and really like it. Light weight and sturdy, real smooth head and it let's me stand to glass if I want to as well. http://focuscamera.com/sc/froogle-lead-1.a...p;sid=978959631

Ethics of Finding a Trail Camera

Lark; you're Southern -
I think they usually come out late April or early May. They have them posted online lately, well before they are sent to license dealers though.
-
Just guessing here, but common sense seems to indicate that these hunts would be put in place in the southern half of the state where elk are somewhat rare and Coues deer are somewhat common. -TONY You're right with common sense and I know where elk and deer live in the state . However, there are units with overlap of species and without any specific units shown, you would have to consider the possibility that it could happen. There are bull hunts that start on the days that have been proposed for the coues deer change. Just a concern . I guess we shall see when they come out huh?
-
I don't read anywhere that the Nov. Coues date change would be for limited units. Am I wrong? I probably wouldn't be against a later Nov. Coues hunt. It would be nicer with cooler weather. It would suck for the elk hunts that are occuring though. That could possibly fill the woods pretty heavy with hunters. Maybe an amendment for that would be in order.

This past December I watched a 108" buck stay bedded for almost 2 straight hours. He was bedded in the sunshine for an undetermined time before then too. He got up and walked 5 yards to some shade at about 11:30-12:00 then stayed bedded until about 2. He then got up and fed on some mahogany right by him, and then dropped dead in his tracks when my dad smoked him. Each deer has a different personality and will have different behaviors. A bruiser buck will always have numerous escape routes. Even IF he is still bedded in the same spot when u reach him An older and wiser buck is alive because he has had experience in escaping trouble or near death. Probably been shot at a few times too. This above is one reason big bucks get big.

I was by today and I can say the tripod and head is in good condition. If I hadn't received a nice pod for Christmas, I would have bought it right there.

Whats the dumbest thing you've done?
Coues79 replied to TATAat27's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
When I was 12, I had a shot at a cow elk at 30 yards away. She was moving slowly and I thought I should lead her. I was shooting a .270, not a bow. That's enough said I believe. -
