    Ethics VS Law

That is a tough call. I would hate to come across that situation too. As a law abiding citizen, the best thing IMO would be to let it be. There are laws and rules put into place to protect wildlife. I'm not saying it is the ethical thing to do, but imagine the trouble we could have if there was a loophole that stated it was ok to put down animals that appear to have death from an natural injury be imminent. All sorts of trouble could occur. Another thing, imagine if a warden were to hear the shot, find you and the dead animal. You'd be in a boat load of trouble, not to mention the possibilities of not huntin' for a few years. Not an easy call man, but I think you did the right thing.

    2007 Coues Contest

I tossed this idea around in my head as well. I think it would be cool to have a women's category, however, some women may want to be in the mix with everyone else. Maybe we could get a woman's input on it.

    Gun Control

Yes, but when the 2nd amendment has failed us time after time with murder, maybe its time change it like many amendments have been changed before. By the way I went studied goverment at ASU and the only reason that law was written, was to protect us from the British if we ever needed to again! I think we are safe now. NO MORE GUNS. WOW! What a nerd

    1 road kill - 3 deer killed

I hate to see that. On the way home over the 4th of July, there was a forky mule deer dead on the side of the road right outside of Superior. It is sad to see that happen.

    Draw Results Available Online

Looks like I'll have the same Nov. Whitetail tag that I had last year! I can't wait for 16 more weeks to pass. Wife didn't draw a Dec. tag... only hunt she put in for. Oh well, we'll have a 3 month old that would have been hard to pry her from anyways. Dad drew a Dec. Whitetail tag! Only put in for that specific hunt. I am really glad he drew this tag. It'll be a lot easier for him to get around in the hills with the cooler temps, not to mention the better chance of seeing a bruiser buck! The draw was pretty good for us here. We are hunting again this year with desired tags, so I can't complain. Don't know how much longer it will be this way with so many people moving to our state.

    2007 Fall Draw Results....

I was told the same thing when I called today. Should be within the next couple of days to be able to check online. She also said that if you applied online and were drawn, that the G&F would be sending something in the mail to those people to explain how to go about paying for your tag. Hope its soon!

    I know I'm a redneck

Builds character. Nothin' wrong with that IMO. I'd rather see that then have them sit in front of video games all day.

    More pics

I ran across three of them all within about a quarter mile of each other. It was sunny and all of them were right by an ant colony. Must have been some good comfortable eating for them.
  15. Here are a few of the many pictures I was able to take over the weekend. It was great to get to see so much wildlife out and about.

    Couple of Questions..

I just purchased a pair of the monarch 10's from Doug at Cameraland. I opted for the 10x56's and I'll tell you what man, they are a great glass. I am very well pleased with them and will use these along side with my swaro's 15x56's that I plan to purchase in the next couple of months. I have also looked through the Brunton's and they just didn't work for me. I felt eye strain as I looked through them, however, some people love em'. You definitely need to check them out side by side. Also, don't hesitate to give Doug a call when you figure out what you want. He will take care of you. I purchased a demo pair and have literally no complaints about the glasses I recieved. They are optically perfect with no scratches and he sent them right out. Very pleased with his service. Good Luck!
  21. Don't like it. I put in for the November hunt because I know that I can hold out on the FIRST weekend and if I feel like taking a smaller buck, still have the opportunity to do that in the SECOND weekend. Most of the hunters out there are only able to hunt on the weekends anyways, not to mention some of the juniors that are out there hunting on this two weekend hunt. I mean really, how long can you justify pulling a kid out of school just to go hunting? Weekends are the opportunity for the majority of hunters to be able to do their hunting. I like the way the hunts are set up now but I don't mind a couple of the late archery elk hunts they have now. I am apposed to adding more late november hunts for elk in other units as well as well as the southern units. I have 3 daughters who all hunt and having two weekends to hunt doesn't bother me at all. One is just fine. I alway's take their entire hunts off from school. Even if they get a deer tag and a elk tag in the same year. I am lucky right now because they are straight A students and that makes it alot easier to take them out hunting. Hunting and being with family plays a HUGE part in how kids turn out once they move out so thats one of the ways I justify taking my kids out of school. I see your point and agree with you about growing up and having the experiences of being out in the field like that. As a teacher however, I have to say that when a student misses a week of school, it sure does put them behind, not to mention all of the in-class learning time that is missed. But, that is after all my opinion. I for one can't justify my kids (soon to be) missing a whole entire week of school due to hunting, and that wouldn't fly with the wife either (it's been a struggle to justify to her that if she's a Cochran, hunting on Sunday is okay .) Hunting is important, and most of the best memories that I can conjure up are of hunting but I just couldn't do that. Hope they keep their grades up to par so you can keep them out in the field. I still hope they don't take the second weekend out either.

    Owl music video

That is a really cool video. For my 8th grade science classes, we just wrapped up a P.O. on beak design, protective coloration and adaptations that organisms have made throughout time. This would have been a really cool video to show to talk about some of the adaptations owls have made over time to be the stealthy predator that they are. I really enjoyed that Amanda. The music was fitting too!! Nice work.

Man you look around in that background and that buck looks like he was in some pretty thick junk. There's a reason they get that dadgum big. Sweet find!!

    Please help...

I wouldn't have answered your question either when you keep using that stupid redneck writing. I kinda like the ol' redneck talk. Brings back some good memries from down south in good ol' Alabammy. Oh yeah Lark, I have noticed that post to that thread. Matter of fact, that post is the first thing I look at every day. Just wonderin' if there would ever be an answer. Guess not. I imagine we will get him back some time around the next posting of the draw results. Once everyone is really pissed off again. All things aside, he really does seem like a pretty good ol' boy though. But I get yer' drift.
