That's frickin' sick man. While your at it though, if you're really gonna do this, you can't forget to pack in a plastic bottle to urinate into. All that hard work with the poo would go to waste if you contaminate the ground with liquid human waste. I thought I was a die-hard hunter. Anyone who does that has me or anyone I know, beat by a mile. I hope you're joking and just drivin the point home about using the wind correctly.

I plan on purchasing a new deer rifle this year and I was wondering about the 25 WSSM. I plan on having this rifle solely for coues and putting the 7Mag up and using it for my elk hunts. I am wondering if anyone has any input or feedback on this caliber or the 243 short mag or anything in close comparison caliber wise. Which one is a better round, is there much difference, what would you do and why? I'm not a gun expert by any means necessary, but I know many of you have great knowledge so I value your opinions.

Very good footage. Its amazing the amount of energy that is created with just heat and moisture. Thanks for sharing.

Is it the automatic or manual transmission? TB, TRV, LE or any of these?

I know I would not regret getting a 270 Short Mag. I have heard a lot of great things about the round and how much people seem to love that gun. This purchase will also be for my wife. She will be shooting this gun in the future as well. This is why I am opting to go with the smaller caliber, rather than the 270 Short. She is small and dainty and can't handle the recoil real well. I need a gun with that in mind. Some day, I will get a 270 Short. Not with this purchase though. Again thanks for the input.

That first buck looks like he is gonna be pretty wide. Those are some nice pics there. Thanks for sharing. -
I've already heard a lot of good info. Thanks a bunch guys. I have also considered the 25-06 and I will probably start thinking about this round a little harder. My eldest brother shoots this round for his coues deer and from what I know, he loves the gun. Superb accuracy and high velocities. I do not reload and with a baby coming and a full teaching schedule ahead of me, I cannot and would not be able to find the time to get into it. So, those 40 dollar boxes of ammo would add up quickly with that .257 weatherby. It does sound like a great round however. It will be about a month before I make the purchase so I still have a little bit of time to ponder. If anyone still has any more opinions, knowledge or advice, please keep it comin'.

Dang Jim, that is nothing short of a spectacular experience! I appreciate being able to see those pictures.

That is a tough call. I would hate to come across that situation too. As a law abiding citizen, the best thing IMO would be to let it be. There are laws and rules put into place to protect wildlife. I'm not saying it is the ethical thing to do, but imagine the trouble we could have if there was a loophole that stated it was ok to put down animals that appear to have death from an natural injury be imminent. All sorts of trouble could occur. Another thing, imagine if a warden were to hear the shot, find you and the dead animal. You'd be in a boat load of trouble, not to mention the possibilities of not huntin' for a few years. Not an easy call man, but I think you did the right thing.

2007 Coues Contest

I tossed this idea around in my head as well. I think it would be cool to have a women's category, however, some women may want to be in the mix with everyone else. Maybe we could get a woman's input on it. -
Yes, but when the 2nd amendment has failed us time after time with murder, maybe its time change it like many amendments have been changed before. By the way I went studied goverment at ASU and the only reason that law was written, was to protect us from the British if we ever needed to again! I think we are safe now. NO MORE GUNS. WOW! What a nerd

I feel it worked well last year. -
I hate to see that. On the way home over the 4th of July, there was a forky mule deer dead on the side of the road right outside of Superior. It is sad to see that happen.

Draw Results Available Online
Coues79 replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Looks like I'll have the same Nov. Whitetail tag that I had last year! I can't wait for 16 more weeks to pass. Wife didn't draw a Dec. tag... only hunt she put in for. Oh well, we'll have a 3 month old that would have been hard to pry her from anyways. Dad drew a Dec. Whitetail tag! Only put in for that specific hunt. I am really glad he drew this tag. It'll be a lot easier for him to get around in the hills with the cooler temps, not to mention the better chance of seeing a bruiser buck! The draw was pretty good for us here. We are hunting again this year with desired tags, so I can't complain. Don't know how much longer it will be this way with so many people moving to our state. -
I was pumped...... then I saw Lark started the thread.

Looks like a great time and some great views. Thank you for sharing your pictures with us! -
I was told the same thing when I called today. Should be within the next couple of days to be able to check online. She also said that if you applied online and were drawn, that the G&F would be sending something in the mail to those people to explain how to go about paying for your tag. Hope its soon!
