So much truth to that. Drew my first tag in 2012 with 7 points. Got too picky and passed a few nice bucks. Came home empty handed. It might be another 15+ years before I get another chance. Regret alot of my decisions on that hunt. rifle hunt? i dont think theres anything wrong with trophy hunting with a trophy tag, id rather come home empty handed knowing i gave it everything than come home with something poverty. just me though. if it was archery you dun goofed. Rifle. Yeah, I gave it everything. I found one great buck and chased him around for most of the hunt, passing on some other good ones. Then he disappeared and my hunt ran out of days. 6 years later and it still stings. Oh well, I'm pushing 50, so I should have at least one more chance!

I don't think Secretariat's record at the Belmont will ever be broken.

The early monsoon sucks. That's when all the fires start with the dry lightning.

So if you were win, which spotting scope? I can't decide! lol -
Mine is a dog too! My trailer with my Can Am Defender comes in at roughly 3000lbs. Whenever I hit that hill and going up Ox Bow, truck struggles. Of course, it's a 2004 with that lowly 4 speed tranny, but I thought it would handle that weight. Apparently not. I'm now in search of a new truck! Haha

I saw a couple different brands on camofire yesterday. A couple of Leica's with significant savings. If you're not in a hurry, check out their website daily. They usually recycle the deals.

Damm it! Why did I open this thread! Haha There goes my lunch money for the week! -
Guy must not have a rear view/side mirrors??? Wonder why nobody waved him down to indicate a problem, especially if fires were popping up all along the highway. I'm constantly looking in my mirrors making sure there are no problems back there. Crazy.

Love my Smith and Wesson M&P Shield in 9mm. Very thin and light. Comfortable to carry all day.

Its all politics. Can't close the Rim lakes on the biggest camping weekend of the year. It was like that back in the 80's when I worked on the fire crew there, and it's the same dance today. My prediction: big fire breaks out on Saturday afternoon.
-
A couple new fires today. A precursor to next weekend. Hold on to your hats!

The Tinder fire started even though there were restrictions already in place. There was a fire just north of Woods Canyon lake this week. Not only did the people ignore the no campfire rule, this fire even started on a road already closed to access. So this dumbazz broke 2 restrictions just to have a campfire. People just don't give a crap! That's why there really isn't a choice but to shut it down.
-
I hope they close more than that. Otherwise the idiots will head west and burn down my favorite lake, Bear Canyon. I'm sure the FS is going back and forth on keeping the Rim lakes open, but they're playing with fire, no pun intended.
-
I live near where that bear was spotted. Happens every time it's this dry. They drop off Four Peaks in a desperate search for food and water. And I agree on the closure! Shut the whole thing down now!

Conserve and Protect (Tags) Presentation at G&F Mtg
AZ8 replied to 40-year-AZ-hunter's topic in The Campfire
This has been my main contention. I brought this up at the meeting at BassPro that Arizona has a finite resource and can't be compared to other states. How do we add more tags without removing tags from the general pool? If simply adding more tags to the pool, how's it going to affect the harvest objectives outlined by G&F? These "new" tags will HAVE to come out of the general pool if we want to meet the current harvest objectives. -
Don't escalate it. I had a bad neighbor a few years ago. Total DB! After awhile I just ignored him. He got bored, stopped the harassing and moved away. Eventually I heard through other neighbors that he died. What a miserable man. And now he's dead. Just document everything and keep to yourself. It's a crazy world now compared to 20-30 years ago and we hear stories of neighbors killing each other over stuff that really doesn't matter much. Not worth it.

Heading up in the morning. No tag for me, just going up to drink...err, I mean to help locate birds. Friends said it was very quiet this morning. No tags fill yet. I told them to wait for me!
