I'd imagine the next batch of credit card charges, albeit small, will be from the reject list as they move to the next person in line.

Where is this progress bar?? https://www.azgfd.com/hunting/draw/statusbar/

Congrats to all that got hit. After my card got hit this morning, I was basically worthless at work. Already daydreaming about the elk woods in September!
-
Yes!!! Just got a hit!! I'm going elk hunting!!!!
-
I'm pretty sure the draw is completed already. They're just waiting for the credit card deadline to expire. Then it's batch time and the fun begins!

That was a great thread last year!
-
Awesome! Great start to the Spring gobbler season!

There's an old forest service airtanker crash site up on the Rim. Well over 40 years. It's laying on a side of a small drainage. Huge engines and some scrap metal and wires is all that's left. Story goes the bomber was heading back to Winslow tanker base after a slurry drop on a fire but never made it.

What is the point DB? If it's more regulations, then I concur. Last thing we need are more regulations. I'm as anti regulations as the come. However, we are a nation of laws. We a free and prosperous country because we do abide by the laws of the land. Otherwise we'd be Somalia, Syria or Sudan. In this case, in the hunting community, we are governed by rules and regulations. Some are good, some are bad. We can either cash in our chips and walk away from the game, or abide by the rules as best as we can. Me, I'd rather hunt, so I do the best I can with the rules and regulations. I improvise and adapt. It beats the alternative. Anyways, not trying to preach or imply a holier than thou attitude. Someday the elk woods will be nothing but a memory. I can guarantee you down the road more regulations will be implemented. We just gotta do the best we can. Life is too short.

Man, some of y'all have gotten soft! Do you realize what 1/4 mile is? It's freaking 440 yards. I can walk that in about 4 minutes. Find a trail to said water. Place your camera at 441 yards. Learn the patterns. Set up your blind/treestand. Ambush the elk or deer as they come in. Tag your animal. Pack it up. Go home. I'm literally lol at the freak out that's happening. 440 yards. You think we're talking about the distance to the moon.

From the Feburary meeting notes. Go to page 13. I'd imagine the final approval from the March meeting will mirror these. https://portal.azgfd.stagingaz.gov/PortalImages/files/commission/2017/2017_02_3-4%20Comm%20Mtg%20Minutes.pdf

They've already covered their bases. The definitions are clearly stated in the proposals.
-
I'm having point creep nightmares!
-
That's incorrect based on the notes from the February meeting. They're clearly talking about 1/4 mile from a water source.

I'm always against new regulations. We seemed to be over regulated. But to believe there are no real issues in some traditional trophy units is a bit naive. They are banned on the Big Boquillas Ranch, yet people still hunt up there. Montana bans them during hunting season, yet a guy still arrowed the new P&Y world record elk. Won't be the end of the world.

This has been brewing for several years. You can thank all the guides up on The Strip. 15+ cameras on every water hole up there.
-
Mine shows zero also. I wouldn't worry too much.

Shhhhh...don't tell my boss, but I think I'm calling in sick on Friday, March 17th! Want to focused on my credit card charges. Lol Just check every 5 min while at work like everyone else. Probably the least productive day in arizona every year. Yup true. I actually have text alerts set up on my card so I'll know as soon as it happens.

Hey I'm not embarrassed to admit that I've changed some tactics while out hunting. Back in the day, my buddy and I would bust up and down drainages, back and forth like mountain goats. I now freely admit I'll deviate a half mile or more along the edge of that same drainage and find an easier place to cross. Not only am saving wear and tear on my old knees, but I get to see more country and maybe jump an elk or deer along the way. I want to be out in the woods as long as I can. Toning it down a notch now will buy me more time in the future.
