A friend who works at costco in Prescott said today was the busiest day so far.  He starts work at 4:00 am and people were already starting to line up.  He attributed it to the governors directive.

yeah. since nothing had really changed except the date,  the  governor could have worded that much better.  "everyone's doing great,  hang in there.  let's keep up the good work for a few more weeks....blah blah blah"

    or something to that effect.

  2. I drove down Lake Mary Rd over the weekend heading back home from Flagstaff.  From my observation, there was mud everywhere and lots of standing water in the usual spots.  Most of the smaller roads that shoot off LM Rd were pretty muddy.  If this warm weather holds for 10 days or so, that should help.

Nobody is going to put me in one of those.

Actually, the home my father was in was very nice. Much different from those large, 500 bed facilities.  It was an actual home in a neighborhood. You wouldn’t know it unless you walked inside. Once we couldn’t do it anymore, it was the best place for my dad. The staff was awesome. And since there were only 5 patients, they received excellent care. It was as close to home as we could get. Very compassionate.

Trust me when I say this. We gave it our best for almost 2 years, but we just couldn’t do it anymore. We needed help. I was worried about my mom’s health by then. I was the one that drove my dad to the home on move-in day. Taking my dad on that first day was the HARDEST thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. Ever! Period!

With the exception of cruise ships, those places are about the worst place to be right now! My heart goes out to those people since they’re so vulnerable to any change. My father was in a private group home(5 patients) for the last year of his life. Even though most of the residents were incapacitated in some way, they all were funny in their own little way. Most just wanted a friend to talk to. 😢

My mom visited my dad every day until he passed. I saw him almost as much. The employees said we were the only family to visit their loved one. 😟

Shapiro mentioned there was a new study out of the U.K. suggesting that a huge percentage, up to half of their population, has already been exposed and/or infected.    If that’s the case, the death rate is so low to be almost negligible compared to a common flu.  It’s only the rate of contagion that makes it a nasty bug.

bottom line is there’s a lot of bs and fear mongering going on and it needs to stop

    Absolutely!

And now, do you notice the media saying.....”we haven’t hit the peak yet, wait 2 weeks”. Then 2 weeks from now, they’ll say.....”well, we haven’t hit the peak yet”.  They told us back in late February that by mid-March the hospitals will be overrun!

So they keep moving the goal posts to continue the panic. The media is playing a very dangerous game with the American people.

For those of you that prefer rational thought over hysteria and media hype, this is a good listen from another qualified source.  I've heard from many sources now that this thing is highly contagious, but not very deadly.  The death rates being touted by the media are grossly inflated because they're only testing people who are already very sick!  It's the worst sampling plan on the planet!  In my industry (aerospace) it's the same as if you brought me a box full of parts that we all already knew were bad and we sorted through them hoping to find one or two we can salvage.  That's not how you evaluate a systemic problem.

The greatest danger we face now is not death from the corona virus, it's a global depression and high unemployment.  Some of the "experts" are already talking about 20-30% unemployment in the US.  Just imagine that for a minute and all the things that go with it: foreclosure rates to make 2008 look like a walk in the park, mass evictions, homelessness on an unimaginable scale, depression, drug abuse/alcoholism, suicide, deaths of people that lose their insurance with their jobs so they can't get meds or even see a doctor.  That's not to mention people stealing & looting just trying to survive.  That's just domestically.  What about all the people around the world that are being kept alive by US foreign aid and charitable giving.  Let's sack their local economies and then stop all the aid & charity on top of it.

The media is making more money off of this than they've made in a decade or more.  Everybody's tuned in, even though a month ago we all agreed that they're all completely full of BS.  Politicians are running a political game: If I don't take this seriously and it goes bad, I'm screwed.  If I do take it seriously and it fizzles out, we can all say we had bad information and just overreacted.  It's the biggest CYA overreaction I've ever seen in my life.

Until they spend the time and money to start testing people for antibodies to see who's already had it & kicked it, they really have no idea at all how severe this thing is.

There’s a growing consensus showing very promising results with hydroxychloroquine treatment. I wonder why the media isn’t reporting this. Maybe they want people to die to keep up their narrative and continue to make tons of money.

Also, more and more people are beginning to sound the alarm.

  7. See!! This is why making predictions are so dangerous!

Ferguson said he now predicts U.K. deaths from the disease will not exceed 20,000, and could be much lower.

The Imperial College report was also the basis for the modeling used by the website COVID Act Now, which local and state officials in the U.S. then used to issue “shelter-in-place” mandates. COVID Act Now, which was founded by a handful of Democratic activists in Silicon Valley, is an online mapping tool that generates models predicting coronavirus hospitalizations, which have also already proved to be wildly inaccurate.

Atleast, 4 Senators reading the bill caught the notion that, you would make more on unemployment, than if you were employed.  I am sure that will motivate the unemployed to go look for jobs when this is over.

Yeah that was crazy. I think they went in there and fixed that this afternoon. Or so we hope! 😮

If not, I’m telling the boss I’m out! I’m going fishing! Lol

When decisions have to be made that try to quantify anyone's life over another is never going to be easy.

In your opinion this is over the top,  too much for you and that's ok.

For myself and in only my opinion, I'll take the hit if that means my grandson maybe able to hunt with his great grandfather and to hear family stories straight from his great grandmother.

I'll pay the price for this if that means I'll have to start from scratch again.

Fair enough, but it’s funny that everyone making these decisions are the ones currently receiving a paycheck.

    Is this America?

  10. At what point do we get on with life? Social distancing to continue another 3 months? 6? 1 year? No school until the Fall? Restaurants closed to dine-in until September? All non-essential businesses closed until June?

If this continues, the human cost not related to the corona virus will be tragic. Both financially and mentally. The dark story no one wants to talk about will rear it’s ugly head as people make a final personal decision that will forever change the lives of their loved ones. That’s phucked up and sad.

Sometimes politicians make “feel good” decisions without any thought to the consequences those decisions may have.

Anyone been around lake Mary or Ashurst lake in the last day or two?  How much snow is still on the ground or has much of it melted already?

Doubt there’s much. Here’s a current picture of I-17 just south of Flagstaff.

  12. I think the US “might” have turned the corner. If we ignore the headlines and just look at the numbers, it does show things moving in the right direction. Tomorrow is day 8 of Pres Trump’s “15 days”, maybe they’ll relax some restrictions and let people get back to work!
