Specialized stumpjumper marathon 29er-SOLD-
bonecollector777 replied to olmos1010's topic in Classified Ads
And here I thought all bikes consisted of were pedals, frame, seat, handlebars, and tires. Sweet machine though. -
Haha you think the guy messing with your SD cards is gonna tell you that and then meet you?
-
Bet he doesn't post again after this haha poor guy.

When reading the thread I automatically assumed he was from another state and therefore could shoot two turkeys. There are some dumb people out there but no one dumb enough to post something as illegal as that had they been in az. I'm surprised everyone believed him to be hunting in AZ.

I think technically by law they have to give NR a chance at 10% of tags. Think the department was getting sued about it about 10 years ago by some big outfitters or something. Could be wrong but I think it went something like that.
-
It won't affect how many tags residents draw. Just how many tags go to those nr that have waited 20 years vs how many started putting in last year.

Unit 3C - Motorized Vehicles Off-Road use to retrieve elk?????
bonecollector777 replied to rookyboy's topic in Elk Hunting
You can travel wherever you want to retrieve an animal in 3c. Just be as careful as possible as some of the area is wet and you could tear it up. -
It's in a little town called Dixon, CA. Just a little west of Sacramento.

I'm so good I just free hand shoot everything. Who needs a bipod or tripod. Out past 1000 yards my groups open up a bit but anything closer than that I don't have time to waste setting up sticks.

I just bought one off of competitive edge products.com seemed like the cheapest I could find one. Didn't know the frys secret but sounds like a good idea.

Quail season
bonecollector777 replied to sherman's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Went out Friday with the family and myself, brother, and dad limited by 9am. Missed about 15 birds or would have literally been done by 7:30. With my brother in laws and nephews birds we ended the morning with 57 gambels and had a delicious meal today. It was 95 at our spot by 9AM so glad we were done fast. Gonna give it another try next week when it's a little cooler. -
Using 2-way radios while hunting. Legal, ethical or what?

I'll give you a smoking deal $20 and it's yours. That's 5 claws in one.

Yeah anywhere off the 300 you're gonna be camping with a thousand other people. It's like a small city on the weekends. I'd go with what Pintail said and try the 146 and 125 or maybe 50 road. Will be a lot less people and closer to more turkey.

Let's Make a Deal if you have 12 or More Bonus Points
bonecollector777 replied to azbullelkman's topic in Elk Hunting
I actually think there would be quite a few guys that would like to receive some help in exchange for help and lodging etc. Lots of guys don't have the time to scout or just don't know much about elk hunting in that specific unit. And if they can put in and help someone else get drawn that would help them through the hunt I don't see why they wouldn't do it. Obviously not the ideal situation for everyone but there are guys out there where it would work great. -

both are treated as NR. The reports showed a few guys from the 11 point group and 10 point group getting tags but I'm assuming they had to be residents. The 10% cap had to have been hit by the guys with 12+ points. I think with 12 this year you're gonna be right in there for a tag. -

Just looked up the report and sadly it wouldn't guarantee us a tag. Looks like 10 points was the magic number this year. And with the good bulls killed this year it will probably go up a point or two. If the whole 10% nr deal changes to only 5% going to top bonus point holders there would be a decent chance of getting a tag in the random draw but no guarantees. Wish I had enough to guarantee a tag because I'd be all over it! -

Man if it's that easy to get guys to put in with you I'll make the same deal with someone. Difference is I live in 3c and know what a 340 bull looks like. I actually killed a 343 bull across the road in 4b this year so 3c shouldn't be an issue. Heck you can even stay at my house in Heber! Would love to have me another elk tag this next year in a unit I know produces 350+ bulls. Any takers just pm me -
After 10 long days of hunting in a lower quality unit during a terrible rut year I was finally able to kill this guy at 15 yards. Had been chasing him all over the country the last 4 days and finally caught up to him. He was running with 25-30 cows and 5 satellite bulls chasing him around which made for a tough bull to get close to. Had to head them off and hope they chose the trail that led to me and it worked out.

I'm sure someone already said this but why in the world would someone with 12 points put in for unit 5? With 12 points you're approaching getting any archery tag you want in the entire state. -
Agree with CWpredator. Those bulls would be scattered out either way. Bulls have been known to move 20-30 miles after they rub their velvet. That's why I've always though scouting all summer is sometimes a waste of time. Best time to scout is starting middle of August when they start moving and you can figure out where all those bulls moved to. But I'd you're in unit 10 I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of good bulls for the hunt.

Had the same tag, definitely a tough year for the rut. Finally killed mine yesterday. Any bull with your bow out of 4b this year is plenty good enough.

Finally got it done this morning
bonecollector777 replied to bonecollector777's topic in Elk Hunting
I would have to agree that the hunt seems to be a bit early but even last year and the year past they seemed to be bugling much better. It was just too hot this year. The few mornings that it was cooler (below 50) it was like someone flipped a switch and they bugled good. If it was hotter than that in the morning, which it was 90% of the days they bugled very little and stopped bugling really early. My bull yesterday was going nuts but that's because there were 30 cows and 5 other bulls following him around I think. I think the rifle hunters are gonna have a great hunt because they are finally bugling well. -
That's just to kill. Helping someone pack out is different.Sadly it's still illegal even packing out. Making any money off an animal while in the field you have to have a guides license.
