    My first predator season

My first year predator hunting, Had no spots and no experience, so after picking my uncles brain, lots of miles on the truck and getting a fox pro for my 17th bday I got a few predators thinned out. Never ended up getting my goal of a bobcat or lion but Now I have a life long obsession when I got no tags or hunts going on.

    First Coyote

I took two of our boys out calling the other day, and my 8 year old got his first coyote. We called this one in and Brooks made a 130 yard shot with the 17HMR. Another fun morning in the woods with the boys.

    Track Identification Please

We've seen this track on a waterhole and road over a period of a couple of weeks. Looks bigger than a coyote. Maybe some of you lion guys can say yes or no. Thanks
  6. Finally got out and did some hunting after much too long of a break. We had a lot of stands busted by other hunters-archery deer, javelina and quail hunters, but still managed to have a good time and some success. I called in a double one morning and took one. Another morning I called in my first deer, a nice 3x4 mule deer buck and his 5 does. He was rutting them hard. The does were real curious about the sounds I was making. I also called in another coyote tthat couldn't be taken by my partner, we decided it was going to be a shotgun stand and the yote was out too far. I had my 12 ga/.223 combo gun at the ready, but I didn't see the dog come in. Can't wait to get out again! The coyote we took

    Coyote Pedestal Mount

Wondering what to do with one of those coyotes you called in??? Check out this Coyote pedestal mount.
  8. We had some boys in town from Missouri for a predator calling trip. I asked them if they'd like to go after coyotes, fox, bobcat or a lion. Of course they said they'd like to get a lion while they were here (as if it's that easy). Then - one of them jokingly said "hey, let's get one of each". I said, that's a tall order in 2.5 days - let's get rolling pronto.... Well - we got 3 of the 4. Started out on day one with a coyote on the opening stand. A mix of coyote vocals and small prey distress closed the deal: Picked up and hauled butt for a place to get a fox with thick fur and lots of red in the coat. Found the right one on day two: Stayed in generally the same area and called the deep wooded cuts for a bobcat. As day 2 was coming to a close - bam - here he comes to a mix of young female coyote vocals, rodents, birds, a rabbits and - boom - down he goes: Evidently the half day we had left just wasn't enough time for me to get a mountain lion called up too. Oh well. It certainly wasn't for a lack of effort. All were called with a Wildlife Technologies Might Atom 21 electronic call. All were shot with DPMS Compact Hunter rifles. It probably goes without saying - yes - those are items we stock at HEALY. And, if you've never heard a Mighty Atom e-caller - do yourself a favor and come on in for a demo. Please bring your current caller with you for comparison's sake. It's time to hear what your predators have been missing.

    Sorry, post deleted.
  10. Hi All, March 1st is the season opener for Daylong coyote hunting in GMUs 31 and 32. To kick it off, we're going to host our 2nd Annual Predator Contest. We'd love for any of you who are interested to come down and participate. You can hunt anywhere in the state, but all dogs need to be checked in physically at our store in Thatcher. We'll have entry forms available at www.gilaoutdoor.com by Friday... and on our Facebook Page.
