  1. I think it should require a certain minimum number of points to even be eligible to draw a Once in a Lifetime tag (at least 5, maybe 10) such as bison and sheep.

Agreed. Would keep dads from getting their 10 year olds sheep tags when they'd be happy shooting a doe on the kaibab. Pretty sure Colorado has that rule and you have to have 5. Need to show some sort of dedication to wanting to hunt that special animal.

Another big problem is that there are a ton of hispanics who love to go camping and on a weekend like this they are everywhere. Lots of them dont speak english and I highly doubt the spanish radio stations or Telemundo talk about this at all. So lots of them probably have no idea.

    Racist. .

Blow me...Wife is mexican and so are kids..
Haha guess you dont speak sarcasm. I'll try not to joke with you guys that have anyone Hispanic in the family.

  4. the entire rim is closed this morning from camp verde to woods canyyon and from woods canyon to lakeside.

Not exactly true. Woods canyon, willow springs, bear canyon area is still open. Apache sitgreaves left north of 260 open. Might as well start a thread where we guess the date and time of when the fire breaks out up there. Kind of like the draw results post.

  5. Yes if any horse gets loose and its owner doesnt attempt to get it back they are breaking the law and it is now feral and if I had legal permission I'd shoot every last living horse out there and then go home and sleep like a baby.

How many would pay for a tag to shoot a feral horse for the meat?

I'd pay extra for a tag to shoot a feral horse and leave it there.
How are you able to tell the difference between a "feral" horse and one that has been turned out on a range lease?
Because none of the ranchers release their horses out here in 3c in fear that they will say they're now "wild" and then cant get them back. And I know everyone that ranches around here doesnt release their horses out there. Just cattle.
Oh you can turn your horses loose on leases and get them back. And even the best cowboys have had their horses leave them.

So how does someone who does not posses all the intimate knowledge of all the ranchers and their stock tell if a horse is feral? You didn't really answer this simple question. Because the answer is, you cannot tell the difference. It would take a huge chunk of time to identify the members of a wild horse band. So I don't think there will be any otc permits any time soon.

And yeah, there are wild cattle too eating grass, drinking etc.

But if you have permission of a lease holder to go after them, better make sure they're of age and not branded.

Both are generally rounded up for ID.

Not defending wild horses but let's not lose our minds. The Govt needs to act.

Dont need any intimate knowledge other than that there are ZERO horses in 3c that are from ranchers. Therefore meaning every horse you see out there is a feral horse.

  8. Stage 2 you're fine to hunt. Closures obviously no because you can't even be in the forest so yeah you lose your chance to hunt along with your bonus points. But I'd say if it's still so dry you cant hunt in September then most likely everything has either died or moved out of the country looking for water. So it will save you from wasting your time.

  9. Funny how some are fine with denying access to our puplic lands with the hope of not burning our public ands but aren't okay with allowing some other opportunities for people to harvest our wildlife with the hope of preserving ur ability to continue to do the same. Hmmm.... That's a head scratcher.

  10. The few folks who adhere to policy--Fire Restrictions--should not have an issue being out and about on our public lands . It is the select few moron's-- for lack of better wording--that will change our public lands for our kid's and whomever just for the fact that they are moron's .

Done venting ----if you are a moron stay the heck home !!!

And how exactly can you decifer who is the moron and who isnt? You cant until it's too late so that's why its shut off to everyone.

  11. If you know you're applying for 22 and 24b why are we even having this conversation? I asked a legitimate question as to how old you are and how long you think you can still hit the mtns. If you're 75 about to die then best be applying for a lesser quality unit. If you're 50 and in good shape and have another 20 years in you then stick with 22 and 24b and you'll draw it eventually even if it takes 10 years. But if all 60 or whatever people with max are going for 3 tags in 2 units you're in for a long wait.

Curious why you would sign something that keeps you from doing what you please with your property?

My wife fell in love with the house. Loophole, that I can get a certified arborist to send a note to the county stating a tree is sick and needs to be cut. My brother is a certified arborist.
guess I meant what rule or what conditions were in place to even have that as a possibility when I bought it? I've never heard of something like that.

Just burn it all down and let's start over...

isnt it not burning naturally the reason these so much fuel in the first place? Its hard to understand that the small town folks seem to think only they are responsible enough to use the forest. The rest of us are the tax base that pays the lions share of operations and maintenance cost right?
If we start a fire here it burns our house down. It doesnt burn yours down. So naturally those that have more to lose than just the trees are going to be more careful. And were more inclined to want it closed so there isnt a fire no matter who starts it. Also last I checked when the forest closes we all are locked out of it so not like they are letting locals use it and out of towners can't.
