Never said anything about quality . It was referenced more to quantity of materials needed to do the job correctly. Used to see it all the time. Pretty much it boils down to the majority of homeowners don't have a clue what they are doing and in the end just complicate the job more than it really is trying to save a buck while costing the contractor time and margin

Bob is 100% right on that one. The subs also avoid most jobs that are labor only that the owner wants to supply materials so your stuck dealing with their screwed up material takeoffs and issues but get no markup out of it. Reading this thread really makes me appreciate not dealing with the public any more as a contractor and only dealing with large home builders .
