THE RODEO CHEDESKI BURNED A HALF A MILLION ACRES AND AS JIM PAXON TOLD US ITS HARD TO IMAGINE HOW BIG THAT ACTUALLY IS UNTIL YOU WITNESS IT FOR YOURSELF… AzP&Y

    Hiking gear

For a sleeping system, I'm using the Thermarest Prolite 3 and The Featherlight Go-lite 40 degree sleeping bag. The pad weighs I believe 1.5 lbs and the sleeping bag is 1lb 10 ozs. The pad compacts to the size of Naglene water bottle. With a light weight tarp or TYVEK (tarp material underneath it's plety of insulation and comfort for 3 season hunt/scout and camping. Every pound makes a difference when pushing the elevations and climate that Arizona has to offer. Also I may suggest the MSR pocket rocket - iso butane stove and MSR titanium kettle. The stove "nests" in the kettle and also allows you to put a cannister of fuel in the kettle. It all weighs less than a pound and boils water in 3.5 minutes. I log over a 100 miles of trail every year, so when I get back to my computer at home I'll send you a field test of items, weight and my reviews of what works and what doesn't. Ultralight is the way to go, the packs and gear of YESTERYEAR are a thing of the past... AzP&Y

    North Kaibab deer

Dogman68, Interesting words for sure, I didn't draw archery elk for the first time in 6 years and was thinking of putting all of my hunt time into an archery "north kaibab" hunt. In the end I wonder if 10 straight hunting days up there is the way to go? All my mind can tell me is "go" to the north kaibab. More than harvesting a deer, would be the 'hunt experience'... AzP&Y

    Light Poundage setups???

Elpep25, Equally if not more important will be shot placement .... If she hits an elk, deer etc in the wrong area it could be a long day of tracking. Here is a fantastic guide to the vitals and where they are located. That way you can be doing high 5's instead of 10 hours' of tracking - only to be let down in the end... http://www.bowsite2.com/nbefstore/product1...;Product_ID=174 Good Luck- AzP&Y

    Spring Turkey Scouting

Went out and put up some trail cams in advance of the Spring Turkey season. Ran into some nice tracks, but tracking turkeys seem to be tough to judge. Would these be considered an average or above average bird? What forms of scouting do you use? I understand finding a roosting spot is important, but wanted to see if big tracks= big birds? Some J shaped Poop in the picture , I guess indicates a TOM? Any pointers or knowledge would be helpful. AzP&Y Doug
