    I'm getting excited!!!

I also was going to get this Mex. forum going again... What outfitter are you going with???? I've been waiting for the right oppertunity in Chihuahua. You could be in the middle of Mecca" on that new ranch, OR It might have been pounded by all the ranchers family/ cowboys. I would'nt hunt it more then 3 or 4 days, you'll know if the bucks are there. Then i would go enjoy the ranch beds & that fine Mex. cooking. The timeing is perfect as the Rut in Mex. can go into March depending on how far South you are. Take ALL your optics. No ????? But if you are flying, do not check them. Carry on only, airline baggage carriers don't care whats in your bag. Be patient with the Culture as things can be a cluster F^%$.. But enjoy... you'll have a BLAST. I'm headed to Sonora the last wk. of Jan. .... Can't wait.... DH
  2. Doug, Nice to meet you, & share a few. A very small world.... I never found anything over 85" or so. Did see 18 bucks , & no people all week SWEET..... How did you do? DH

Seen the fee proposals for 2006?

Very well said Jose. The privilage of hunting is still cheap in todays world. I guess you guys could'nt bair to be with out you're 6000.00$ quad, or you're 1000.00$ sound system.... I support AZ. wildlife $ the Fees that it takes to keep the Anti-hunting public from having$$$ power. DH

Who's going to be where??? I'll be with my son the first few days????? Then i'll be down there by myself, all wk. My tag, he's back to school. Still don't know where i'm hunting. Doesn't much matter.... DH
  5. My son Seth took a 85" ? buck on Sat. morn. at 7:45 in #33 What a great day it was. It had the potential to be a big cluster f%*#. We did'nt get down there till fri. eve. due to school & work. The place & bucks we had scouted was allready sworming with camps & quards. So we found a new place to camp.(in the dark) & a Mt. that seemed to be overlooked (on the map). Got up to the high saddle at first light & set up to glass the far canyon. More quards 2 miles across it. It's amazing that people think quards are quiet & don't spook deer. The bucks showed up just as i hoped, but never thought would. One 200yrd. shot is all he needed. I was so proud & happy for him. We spent a great day on that new Mt. & will call it ours forever. ???? Now how do i post pics. ???? He is enterd in the contest. DH

  9. Sorry guys if I sound like a croutchity old SOB. I"ve been working 20 hr days, 6 days a wk. I am FRIED. Things have slowed a bit & after i sleep a week I'll be my pleasant self again... yuk, yuk, yuk..... DH
  10. Whoooo... there DEERSLAM" I'm not quite sure what you ment by you're P.S. quote. If you new Jay Gates you would know that he took 8 slams in 8 consecutive years. Most were true trophys & taken on his own. There was a time when you could hunt private prop. by asking & being a good stewart. He is one heck of a deer hunter. Since those days he continues to kill some truely monsterous bucks, of all species. He just does'nt care if anybody knows. DH
  11. All it takes is $$ and the right connections. You do have to be a good hunter and shoot straight but the above is a huge help. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    whitetail in unit 33

My son also drew this tag. The last 7/8 years I've had access to a ranch on the E. side of the Rincons, dang nice with no quads or people!!! But he never drew there. Now it has sold & we might have to look elswhere. Don't know much about the rest of the unit, except alot has burned which is a good thing, But i don't even know where those areas are. I know some of you can point me in the right direction to get started. Just want some solitude & him to have a chance at a good buck. I'm afraid he is losing intrest do to having to spend more time avoiding the masses on 4 small wheels, then chasing bucks. Not like it use to be, Alot more tags, but alot less people in the field.????? Thanks, DH

    Antelope

My real fear is he will get drawn for early bull & I'll get that Ant. tag. Same hunt dates.... He can have my Dec. Coues Tag... All the Elk Tags... Sheep will come??? But he just going to have to wait on the Ant. I've been called a Cold Hearted Bastard before, I'm not offended. I will take him to Mex. & Alaska In the next few years. So he's not hurten. DH

Don't care, Kill'em all...All ready have my desert sheep....I'm done... I don't even put my son in for Ant. Keep him out of the pool. I know I'm sick, but there is a cure. DH

    Youth Javelina Report

My son was successful on Sat. morn. in 36a. One shot, 129yrds. It's his second pig, as he took one in 02" in the same place. It was ABSOLUTELY the best hunt we were on all year. We both needed it. Even though it was just a pig, I love it when a plan comes together. We had the whole place to ourselfs. NO Quads, or IAs, not a sole. Some real quality time. Those JR. hunts are great. Reminds me of the days when no one lived in this State. Thanks AG&F, DH

    Rude hunters

I also had a #22 tag this year. Those that thought this would be a quality hunt must have been surprised. 450 tags, Plus the Bowhunters. ...I knew what I was in for. Quads, Quads, Quads.... Everybodys got one. The Forest service had also closed some of the roads into the Willow fire, due to the weather I guess????? But that didn't stop the Quads. I hope the G&F raises the fees so high you have to sell you're "Devil Dog" in order to afford to hunt. Az. hunting has changed so much sense those dang things hit the ground. If you "NEWBEES" only knew..... A quality Az. hunt is a hard thing to find these days & it's not just USO that has caused it. Missing the not so long ago days. DH
  19. I see an awful lot of stories about guys who make shots (bow or rifle) that are good hits. Lots of blood, knock downs, ect. They do the follow up, hours, days, whatever. They belive the buck is dead but can't find it. Then they continue to hunt, killing & taging another buck. I think this happens a lot. Doesn't anyone consider stopping thier hunt. Or afterwords thinking about the fact that they killed 2 deer. I for one would be done. What do you think??? DH

    Rut activity yet?

I feel for you man. I hate those F*&^ing things!!! & all who use them. Those that say it's just one or two bad apples that run amuck. I say BULLSHIT, it's more like 1 in 50 that don't ride illegally. Maybe if they raise the tag prices high enough they'll have to sell the Devil Dogs" in order to aford to hunt. I think it's one of the biggest threat to hunting we have. DH

    "Hunter" preparedness?

Boy, that's not how i saw it. 20 years ago there were only a handful of guys useing big bino's on a tripod. This last wk. end in 36c it seemed like every tit or ridge had hunters sitting on top with tripod glass, even after 2 hrs of hiking in the dark. Only saw a couple walking & hunting old school. Hey Bullwidgen. . There must have been 10 guys with keys to that gate, as every truck on the road drove right on through. these old legs,& my son had to walked a heck of a lot farther. How did the 35a hunt go?? Seth missed a 85" buck twice at 328 yds. & we missed a opp. at a toad, 105"plus Got dark as he froze up behind a mesquite, doing that big buck thing" Nice to see you after all the close encounters. DH
  22. My son has a tag in 36c Nov. Just need a good solid 90" buck. Could still use some advice. Have'nt scouted enough. to much work, & elk hunting. Anybody else have thoughts after the Oct. hunt. DH

    Hey Bullwidgeon/36c

Hey Brett, You still out there???? Give the Sathoff's a call (Bill or Adam), Nobody knows 35A better. & after the help you're family gave Adam with his sheep I'm sure they'll help with info. DH
