New Bow Setup - Looking for Opinions

Two unobstructed holes are better than one. Why wouldn't anyone not want a complete pass through? -

The 450 is still decent weight. But since you said it'll be an elk setup that's where the heavier will help you with momentum and penetration. A good and adjustable insert system like gold tip(HIT INSERT) has can help you adjust and play with what your bow likes and where you want that weight on the arrow (FOC). You could still run your faster arrow but add tip weight to achieve maximum FOC. With you 80lb,31.5" draw you can afford the heavier setup. 295fps is still BLAZING FAST. Also quiete. Meaning game is less likely to jump the string. -
Selling to switch to 125 grain broadheads. Drew an elk tag 9 have never been on an arrow. 2 have been shot $60 Posted on other outlets for 75 Figured I'd hook a forum member up for less. 623 418 88five8

The heavier arrow will be quieter at the shot and will hit like freight trains. They will also be easier to get fixed blade broadheads to tune. You probably could run a 125 grain head to get your FOC up some depending on your spine. I would imagine your are in the 250-300 spine range pushing that heavy if poundage and arrow weight. I drew an elk tag this year and am running a 514 grain black eagle deep impact 300 spine. 11% FOC. 125grain head. AAE Max stealth 3 fletch right helical. 285FPS. Out of a 30", 70lb draw Pse Evolve 35. It is a very accurate, hard hitting and quiet setup. I started a thread on the elk hunting threads "arrow setup for elk" alot of guys shared their setups. Alot of good info shared on that thread. -

Better have horses or mules if you wanna shoot one down there. That canyon is RUGGED! -
That's some good growth for this early. Just got a handful of cameras in the mail today. Looks like I'll be heading up this week.

Drew an early archery bull hunt. What are your guys running for an arrow setup? Arrow? Weight? Broadhead? Fletching? FOC? KE? FPS? (Bow setup. Draw weight & length) What has worked for you in the past or what are you going to run?

My Sawyer mini has done me very well while backpack hunting. I've only used it in a remote spring that is pretty deep. A pump style would probably be better for those puddles. All depends on what the country has to offer you. I always pack in at least a gallon and my bladder full just in case

Are these merino? Long sleeve merino?

Exactly just French tuning. I shoot a hamskea hybrid hunter pro rest and it has micro adjust. Started my initial french at 6 feet. Then 10 yards. Then 20. Then 40. That inch left at 10 yards turns into 3 or 4 inches at 40 yards. I just forgot to adjust my black gold slider when I shot at 40, causing me to miss high and snack the block wall. When you shoot at something as close as 6 feet. You aim with an 80 or 90 yard pin.

Just shot one of those black eagle deep impacts into a block wall on accident(rest tuning @ 40yrds in the wind) the only damage to the arrow was the knock flew out. Found it and put it back it. Flexed the arrow for safety and checked it over. Shot it through a fletch on another arrow. So far super impressed with these shafts.

Update Decided to go with Black eagle deep impacts. 300 spine .001 straightness 11 gpi. AAE stealth Fletched up some in 4 fletch right helical and 3 fletch right to see what my bow likes. The came out at 500 grains even with a 100 grain BH. 525 with 125 grain BH. 11% FOC 285 fps with 125grain bh 293 fps with 100 grain bh 95# of KE Pse evolve 35 30" draw 72# pull Building your own arrows is pretty awesome and quite relaxing.
