    Killing small bucks

No PETA for me. All of my antlers are hanging on my shed wall. Some are nice and some small. But none are spikes. My deer don't mean anything except time in the outdoors and hunting. My avatar was given to me by someone here.

    Killing small bucks

With over 7000 posts to my 34 it seems you've done much more talking than I have. I never said I've killed many - or any big bucks. I don't use cameras or bait to find deer. I don't use deer to prove how good I am. I don't shoot baby deer. I don't take " maybe" shots. I have the same box of ammo I bought 10 years ago with 10 rounds left. I put in plenty of work to hit what I aim at. I know my deer rifle. The rest are just toys. My .50 is my big toy. I hunt on the same mtns, mostly on my property, and shoot one round at a deer I know I can kill. I give half the meat away. And I don't think all that much of myself. But I do call it as I see it. And now I see I have to move on. I'm also waiting on word about where to go. I hope to go back east and help for a few weeks. My job/profession allows me freedom to do what I want. " don't get hung up on scores. Get hung up on hunting" lark Where is he anyway?

There you go stomper. Nobody tells you what to shoot. You just had to prove you could.

So I have to be a member for a long time to voice my opinion. HAHAHAHA! You guys watch some movies and want to be a sniper. You find gadgets and shortcuts and want to kick back and take the easy way out. You get offended and get to the names. You're like little kids.

You'd rather kill a fork with you bow than a big buck with your rifle? Really? I say you did shoot that buck to prove that you could. You could have just left it. But you had to shoot.

I understand the "troll" thing. You guys think its all aout you. It's what you guys think that matters and anyone who goes against you is wrong. I get that. Years ago it was illegal to kill spikes. Is it a great accomplishment to kill a spike or forkie? Maybe for a kid on his first hunt. But all the effort that you guys (advanced members) put in and you come home with a spike or little fork? Anyone can kill a spike. Act like you talk big hunters.

Ok except for meat hunters. Although its probably cheaper to buy meat compared to all it costs to buy bait and salt and all the gear and fuel and ammo to practice for the LR spike killin'. And don't forget the dozen cameras just to find the deer. Can't find them without bait and trail cameras you know.
  9. Killing spikes and forkies should be illegal even at long range just show off. :-)

How can you compare killing bad guys to hunting deer? Buy a new book.

    Ethical kill

I met a guy once who told me it was his first whitetail hunt. This was in 30A. He asked me if they "were the ones that were smaller and had white tails". I wondered if he had ever even seen a deer in the wild or fired his rifle.

Ever seen a bunch of women who work together? That's how this place is. They just wait for another woman to say something - anything they don't like and attack with names and such. HAHAHAHA!

    prayers for my boy

All believers who wish to Pray for the boy should "gather in Prayer" at a specific time and date. I've seen it work. Prayer may not cure someone or save someone because we never know what Gods plan is. But it sure helps and He will listen and make Himself known and felt. "The effective Prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." James I think.

In reference to the 1200 yd shot all I did was ask some questions. Many of us succumb to pride. "I'm going to take the shot because I want to prove that I can make it." I've taken more than a few long shots too. I have a very expensive LR setup and I like shooting. I've never made or even considered a 1200 yd shot on a deer but I have made at least a few 1000 + yd shots - at a range or little competitions with friends. This guy obviously knows what he is doing and has put in the work. There are those who haven't. And just because he (or we for that matter) don't see anyone doesn't mean there isn't someone between the shooter and the deer. You ever had a round go overhead while in the brush? I have. Not that I spend much time in the brush but still. The problem here is that if one doesn't go with the flow of the select few "advanced members" the person has to take a beating. It's ok. I understand. That truly was an amazing shot and I applaud the guy. Personally I wouldn't want t go all the way up there to bring down a little buck. And sometimes we're not really sure if the animal is hit especially at that distance. The guy said he would've gone up to follow through. I have no reason to doubt him. I didn't call him a liar. All I did was ask. There was one guy long ago who was proud of his archery kill. He said he did all this and did all that. He took a bad shot ( the fletching was still sticking out of the deers gut behind the ribs) and he got lucky and found the deer. The only thing he did right was to go back the next day because it was a really big mule deer. If it was a small one would he have done the same? Only he knows. But taking bad shots is not responsible hunting. And who are the ones who start with the name calling?
