Think about it. If you use inserts it would be impossible to line up the broadhead and have the broadhead tight. The threads of the inserts end where they end. Muzzy use to make glue on broadheads which would be possible to line up. I use the four blade. I would have a hard time lining them up. Just worry about the heads spinning true like your ceiling fan and that your bow is tuned. Having your bow in tune is the most important thing in getting good fixed blade flight. Bob Your right I'm not that good, how'd you know, haha. I had heard something about lining them up when you use three blade broadheads so I wasn't sure. Thanks again for the input!

Awesome buck dude. I LIKE IT! Real happy for you. Congratulations Bob ps. now let the antler intact jokes begin.

Gee guys. There is no great mystery to bowhunting coues. You find out where the deer live. Then you figure out a way to get close enough to kill one, before GF bans that tactic. Really no different then any other animal you hunt. Every bowhunting tactic has worked on a coues. All that eastern whitetail hunting methods will work: grunting, scrapes, baiting , ect. I prefer to spot and stalk. During the rutt I like to rove (walk around) hunt with a grunt tube looking for bucks going from Doe A to Doe B. If I am taking a newbee hunting I set up a blind on water. I feel this method is probably the best way to get a close shot and harvest an animal. I have never hunted NM or unit 24. But if did I would probably get on the internet and E-scout first. Bob

yo Ultrahunter wait a second. It is a basic question of manners. Would you go up to some local in 24 and without introduction start asking where the deer are? Tell us about yourself. show us a picture of an elk or a mule. Say something bad about game and fish. Contribute to some other post and maybe ask in the New Mexico section. Secondly please don't get so sensitive I thought hunter were suppose to be tough. His royal highness Game Hauler may have you shackled and quartered for being disrespectful. Bob

salt and feed no more in 2009
bobbyo replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
REpost from different thread. QUOTE (azgfd @ Dec 2 2008, 06:09 PM) Good Afternoon, The below table shows the white-tailed deer harvest in game management unit 22 from 2001 to 2007. You will see the reported archery harvest increased until in 2006 more white-tailed deer were taken during the archery season than during the general firearms hunt. GAME MANAGEMENT UNIT 22 WHITE-TAILED DEER HARVEST Year Archery Harvest General Harvest Total Archery % of Total Harvest 2001 25 139 164 15% 2002 47 129 176 27% 2003 47 155 202 23% 2004 27 129 156 17% 2005 67 117 184 36% 2006 97 96 193 50% 2007 53 158 211 25% Ron Day Small Game, Predator and Furbearer Biologist Arizona Game and Fish Department Man you guys are well behaved today! Hopefully we keep this civil. Now let me add my gripes. 1. Why is it such a crime to have bowhunting harvest exceed rifle harvest. Why is there a cap only on bowhunting harvest. If you know what the bow harvest is through mandatory reporting just reduce the rifle tags. I know, what a crazy idea, rifle hunters are what we are managing game for and the archery guys are the ugly step child that needs more rules and regulations. Archery hunters seem to be a terrible nuisance to game and fish. 2. Unit 22 north is a perfect example of where bow hunting can be as effective as rifle hunting. The thick cover, lack of glassability make it a hard hunt for a limited rifle season. Unit 22 south is more suitable to rifle hunting tactics. I will bet a large amount of money that if 22 were split into north and south for deer like the Elk hunt that there is no way that archers could come close to the rifle hunters harvest numbers in the southern unit. Likewise even if baiting is banned archers are going to harvest close to the same percentage as rifle hunters in the north. Unit 22 archery success is terrain and enviornment driven. So when archers come up with a tactic that may slightly increase their already long odds of actually harvesting an animal a meeting must be called. 3. As you can tell I feel their is a bias against archery hunting. I know, we hunters have to stick together and support one another blah blah blah, but as i stated in other posts this proposed rule is not about harvest numbers. It is not about CWD. Its not about fair chase. It is not about success on little deer. Its not even about the anti-hunters. The real reason???? The huge trophy's archers have been shooting over salt. Deep down you know it is true. This rule is jealousy pure and simple. Look at the number of 120+++" inch bucks taken and pictured very nicely during the early bow season on this very site. Look at the nice, but yet, don't quite measure up rifle deer taken this year. Its easy, to see that it is time to make a new regulation to stop the archers from stealing all the rifle hunters trophy deer. Bob -

Why do we hunt Coues?
bobbyo replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I hunt Coues because I hate the little buggers and want to KILL as many as I can! They deserve it for all the hardship, heartache and expense they have put me through. Watch it Mr. Coues I am out to get you and you better stop mocking me! Bob -
Hey Bill, I like the sound of "I own a Quimby". Maybe you should rethink that writing stuff. Nhunter84 Welcome to the site. I was wondering if that beautiful buck you have in the gallery was related to your brothers current trophy. Were they taken in the same area?
-
huntForlife, I found your other bucks in the Photogallery. You are the Man! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/muzzleloader...der_hunters.htm Bob

Bill, Sweet looking gun. You could make a living building them. I assume you would consider it a Hawkin style gun? Even for a Hawkin style the barrel seems short to me (24) or maybe the deer's antlers are much wider then I'm guessing (30) Again beautiful gun. Do you still own it? Bob P.S. HuntForlife sorry about the hijacked tread it is my fault. It is just we hardly ever get any post in the Muzzleloader section and it is sure nice to get input. Plus I would like to know what your setup is with your Knight inline and see the pictures of your 3 other Muzzleloader bucks especially the record book one.
-
Bill, Even with such a deft description I believe we need a picture of your homemade Side-Lock. I put together a couple of those cheap " kit guns" in the 70S when I was a kid and am really sad I don't have them now. I could not hit anything with them, but they were fun to play with.. There was an old timer in our town that could hit coke bottles out to 150 yards with his open sighted Hawken even after drinking a pint of Jim Beam. After the next pint he would do some trick shooting that you wouldn't believe, so I will not bother telling you. Thanks for bringing back memorys of my mispent youth at shooting ranges. Hunt For life, Was this buck taken in a muzzleloader only season in New Mexico or did you hunt with a muzzleloader during general rifle season. As I said before I think score does not do this buck justice, what a great specimen. Congratulations, Bob
-
SCI record for muzzy is 123 7/8, This buck could make the top ten. Really the uniqueness of the buck makes it a more desirable specimen than what could be possibly measured in a simple scoring system. Jim Shockey has number 10 at 95 1/8. It might be worth it to enter this buck just to say you knocked Shockey out of the top ten. Congratulations, Bob P.S. If you need an official scorer. I could give you some numbers.

Dude! You get a great buck opening MORNING and call it TOUGH. I should take you hunting. You have been spoiled. Congratulation on a great buck. Bob

Goodeoleboy, You have the right handle. You are doing the right thing and it is great to see decent people are still around. You deserve a 120 this year. Bob -
Like everyone else I stay out all day! In the Cab of My truck. It takes too much gas driving back and forth from camp and my "honey roads." When i do get sleepy I have to turn off the ignition. It could get dangerous sleeping and Driv....I mean hunting. Bob

CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS
bobbyo replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Comrade, You understand the situation. I saw a headline that said, " Paulson will invest Federal dollars in Thousands of Banks." How long will it be before it is just one bank? I cannot believe we are in America. Bob -
CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS
bobbyo replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Desert Bull: The Fannie and Freddie Bail out was a different trillion then the 750 billion bailout drafted by Paulson. It was an Executive branch proposal that the dems agreed to, but it was Bush's administration that originated the plan. I blame the Dems for their part, but it was Republican plan that is very Un- Republican and the guy in the White house had to sign it. Ruff Country: All I am saying is Obama could not be worse then George Bush not that we should elect him, but the writing is on the wall. Obama will win and it will be George Bush's fault. Hopefully the good that will come from this is that people will get angry and take our once great country back from these thieves in the Republican and Democratic party. It is time for a viable third party that represents the real people and not the oligarchy that really runs this country. The battle between Red and Blue states is just some made up media B.S. to divide and conquer the country by the power elites. The real battle should be between people that want a real democracy based on our constitution and those moneyed elitist that are in power, who want to keep the status quo. Bob -
I guess he will measure out to about 45" not too sure about the brow tines. Bob

CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS
bobbyo replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Are all you guys going to do is whine about Obama for the next 4 to 8 years. Who's fault is that going to be? Of coarse it is George Bush's fault. He will go down as the worst president ever. Because of Bush, Mc Cain does not have a chance. What has George Bush done for our great country. 1. Has not caught Bin ladin. Please There is no excuse for this. none. This is completely unexcusable. This makes USA a laughing stock. Are we really the most powerful country in the world and we can't catch one man? 2. Fought a war to defend his fathers honor and still has not won. What is the plan for Iraq. Why are we there. What was the whole point? Democracy? WMD? Most idiotic war. Are we the most powerful country in the world and can't even win a war against a destitute country of 30,000,000 without an army. Embarrassing. Do you think we could even think about attacking Iraq which is 4 times the size with four times the people. No wonder they think they can slap us in the face. 3. New Orleans: Just embarrass the USA Live on TV for the whole world to see. What are we Bangladesh? 4. The country is bankrupt and our dollar is worthless. Our government is actually buying our largest corporations with freshly printed money, so the country does not go bankrupt. Strange I only thought third world country's did that. Bush's policy of letting corporations (rob the country blind) police themselves is "the ultimate capitalistic fantasy," but is so ironical because now we are the second biggest socialistic country in the world! In 8 years china has become capitalists and we have become socialists. Comrades I can go on all night, but one last word. How could anybody, even Obama, be worse than George Bush. Bob -
Suspend Campaign for Econ Crisis???
bobbyo replied to Ben-Dover's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Keith i believe there is honest politicians. They just don't get elected. Why is that? Most people can't handle the truth. The two party system is the problem. Why should we be limited to only two choices. We need more parties and more choice. By the way, Ron Paul already got my write in vote. Bob -
