So is it better to recover the antlers or the meat? Chompy your scenerio of the four hunters is ridiculous. If you make a proper shot. There is no reason to wait. It is pretty easy to tell if it is a proper shot. I have a suspicion that the recovered bulls were shot properly and could of been recovered at night. The other two were not shot properly and then you said it rained before light. Low odds either way. 13 must be a good unit. Let me write that down. E-scouter.

Noisy bulls is way more fun to hunt then thirsty bulls. Even if there is more hunters that is where i would go. Keep at it.Looking forward to seeing your picture next to an animal. Its almost like I have a tag. thanks, Bob

Well said. I agree completely. I did not see this episode, but have seen similar crap on other shows. Makes one wonder if these t.v. guys own a lantern. Bob

Nice Fish, Snapshot did you move? Hope all is well. Bob

Here is a great video produced by AZGF. http://www.azsci.com/ You might have to scroll down to see the embedded video. The Movie features friend of CW Jim Heffelfinger. In addition don't forget about the junior deer camp in 34 A during the late junior hunt. Safe place to camp. Lunch provided by AZSCI and free help from some great hunters for either species of deer. Great place to bring junior hunters and to meet some new friends. Bob

I would be PROUD to put my tag on him. Why didn't you shoot him? Bob

Your mental state is important. If you are not fully commited to your current area you will be thinking about all those great places you should be. I don't think it would be a bad idea to take a day and half and check out the other areas. Sometimes magic will happen and the rutt might be in full swing and it might be better in a different area. Likewise If it is the same ole same ole in the other spots then you could fully commit to your area. Sounds like there is two nice bulls you would like to shoot. right? In addition since it is the rutt another monster could show up at any time. Basicly after determining the best spot to hunt. I would plan on running and gunning bugles when they are making noise and sitting water all other times. Do you have a pop up blind? I basically have a mini spike camp inside my blind with ice chest, food, reading material and carpet (for extreme hunting with my eye's closed). Most important thing is you are suppose to be having fun. Also I would start lowering my standards 3 days before the 20 th,Sometimes you have to accept the hunt for what it is. It does not always happen like the videos. Good luck, Bob

Ultra Although I agree with your sentiments I could understand why Jeff would post it since he had concern and he did witness something that I hope is a very rare occurrence. Also he provided info on G+F policy that many don't know about and seems to many to be cold hearted which is basically a hunter without a tag cannot mes with an animal or recover meat no matter how much it is suffering or how much meat is wasted. Even though I like your avatar I am real sensitive to these type of posts where everyone talks about finding elk that the irresponsible archers wound and don't recover. I think it is safe to say that rifle hunters wound as many, if not more elk, during their hunt. In fact it is assured that many elk are wounded and the rifle hunter doesn't even realize it. Elk are tough animals and are real hard to bring down. The wounded elk in the picture has a real good chance for survival in my opinion. Later in the year a rifle hunter may harvest it, find the arrow head and again lament the " irresponsible archer." Yet the irreponsible rifle hunter gets no blame from lack of evidence. Bob

The only advice you need and fortunately this type of terrain encompasses the entire Catalina and Rincon ranges. Probably more spots then you could hunt in a life time. Bob

Country..... , Awesome job and some awesome bucks. I think those hunters need to show you some gratitude. I mean a real solid. Maybe a Lardog Tat across the chest and a couple nipple piercings. I'm just saying those are some nice bucks! Bob

Wow. You like to make it hard. I think you have choices. Since you hunt high mountain Muleys you could probably hunt The high mountain coues with the exact same methods. Still hunt bedding and transition area's. Just don't expect to see as many deer as you do in Utah and your kill zone is half the size. If you want to change it up for a different experience. You could hunt the cactus in the foothills. THis would be spot and stalk with binocs or sitting water. Honestly sitting water would be your best bet for success with your stick. Stalking close enough (I assume 35 40 yard max) to get a shoot at a coues will be the hardest hunt you have ever been on.There was a guy last year I think from Colorado that had your same ambition and I think he did tag out with a nice buck after a week of hunting. I will see if I can find that story. Good luck, Bob http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...c=11943&hl= http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...c=12141&hl=

Maximus, All this really means is that you are in the best unit in the entire state for Coues. For the life of me I don't know why everyone doesn't put in for tags in this pristine unit. You could literally throw a rock and hit a coues. I am really jealous of your tag. This might surprise you, but some hunters are really territorial. Even though they hunt 22 the BEST UNIT in the whole state. They might try to steer you wrong and give you bum info. Don't fall for their tricks. Here is what I would do if I were you. Get to Payson at 5:00 am. Stake out a diner called Knotty Pine Cafe, Starsky and Hutch style. Watch for muddy 4x4 trucks to pull out. They will have CW stickers, and probably that gay silhouette of elk or deer with the words BAD BOYS. Of coarse they will have Hoyt stickers since they have no taste for bows in that country. If you are real lucky you will see one with a Five finger Death punch sticker. Anyway pick a good truck and follow it. They will be going out to check their camera line. Simply Hit the Gps evertime they get out of the truck. These will all be good places to hunt. Just remember when it is time for the hunt bring all your friends and all their ATVS and RVS so they can all witness the best hunt in Arizona first hand. The best thing no illegals to worry about. Hunting heaven in 22. Bob

"Sure we can relax" till the next time someone writes a fact-less , misleading and inflamatory story about guns+Obama. Then again you alls' get, frothing at the mouth, hysterical. When are you guys going to stop getting mad at OBAMA and start getting mad at the people that are manipulating you. You might know deep down in your soul that O is trying to get rid of guns anyway possible, but the fact is after two years of O and a DEM majority it is just as easy to buy a gun or ammo at Walmart. Govt has not done anything. In fact let see who was president when lead ammo was banned for waterfowl hunting. Lets see 1991, who was that? Bob

Lee, Let me translate for you. I said CW was a retard with a small wee wee, but in a nice way. In addition I sarcastically suggested we should include littering and messed up deer hunts as a CAPITOL crime. Of course I have no defense for your ignorant charge. Sincerely, Bob

This piece of art made by my buddy transcends mere taxidermy. Pure art, worthy of a museum. I wish two dimensional pictures could capture this piece but they really lack the full motion and drama that is portrayed when viewed live. So consider this a little taste. While looking at the pictures my 13 year old said "That's Sick!" (translation: coolest thing in the world). The figures are suspended straight out from the pedestal. Imagine this scene in the middle of your living room air space. Bob

Mike, I like that buck. I mean I really like that buck. Congrats.I think you should call him "Bases". Tomorrow could you give the measurements of his base. Bob

Thanks CW, Although obviously cognitively challenged in addition to a severe case of overcompensation syndrome you have to give CW credit for having the guts to post his version of the "ultimate solution" to our border woes. I have heard and seen similar sentiments here and among my peers. Maybe its time to update our ancient morale codes that seem so outdated in our modern world. The old eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth deal should be amended. How about this. Messing up deer hunts, trespassing and littering equals DEATH. What do you think? Bob

I think it is obvious. I learned this from another post. 1. Have his/her camera take a close up of your .50 cal Barreta semi auto with target length barrel. 2. Put a plastic sack around his/her camera. 3. Write him or her a threatening note. 4. Have your Mom steal his salt. 5. Have Uncle Jesse limp around. In a cameo role. couple nice bucks from trail cam
bobbyo replied to jefftrucker12's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Blake don't you think it is just a little hypocritical that you get chapped about a cropped picture of a coues you are chasing and yet post pictures of every 80+ inch antelope in 200 sq mile area. I am just saying I have a million % better chance of locating one of your posted antelope pictures then I do of locating your coues from a posted picture. I think you should consider reposting that buck. I would like to see it and cheer you on when you stick him. Bob I am sure it is a permission thing and if so I retract that hypocritical remark, But only if you repost the picture -
Ward's Outfitters 135" coues story
bobbyo replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
It is amazing how this buck is always 3 miles or more from public land. Not 2 not 2 1/2 but 3. What a consistent number. Gee because of this great consistency Hancock, T.C. and desert dog should be able to question Steve like he is on trial. dang thing is always three miles from public land. Judging from that picture on the road that desertdog uploaded the wetbuck is a stupid SOB also. Not only does he stay at least 3 miles on private land he also stands like a statue next to roads. No wonder every Redneck in Cochise County has a picture of him. May I also add that it is one UGLY Coues deer. I can't wait for Steve to get a bigger one for his client this year so that ugly stupid Wet buck doesn't represent our beloved Coues as its world record. Lets face it that thing is a mutant. Sorry for the digression my original point is to refute the logic of these veiled accusations. Veiled accusation one: Steve went on private land without permission with a client to shoot the world record buck, that multiple people are watching, and then list iit in the book with all that extra scrutiny makes no sense. First the dude said he would of been happy with an 85". Second, If he was going to take that risk why would he let someone else shoot it. Veiled accusation two: Steve somehow spooked the deer three miles on to public land and had a bowhunter whack him? That is just beyond ridiculous. All I can say I am glad that Steve helped take that stupid ugly thing out of the gene pool. Bob -
109 6/8. OOPS that is taken. That is probably the winner. i will go with 110 2/8

Deernut is keeping it a secret, but deer are murder on Bears! Deer will try to kill Bears at every opportunity. Ever see a deer at full speed? They are amazingly fast and could easily run down a bear. I really feel bad for the poor bears they don't really have a chance with all those killer Deer out there. Don't believe me? Go out in the woods and look. You will see 100-200 300 deer before you might catch a glimpse of a bear. No wonder a bear will try to kill a fawn before they turn into killers. Deer are definitely winning the war. Pity the Bear. Mr. Empirical

Silly Broadhead penetration Test to share.
bobbyo replied to HEADACHE's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Why waste time and money? You will get a Headache . Steel heads have out penetrated fixed blades also. What could be better than a dead elk. In addition no broadhead flies better than Rocket. Here is what you do. Throw away the other broadheads. Put field tips on your arrows to save your block. Rocketflight=field tip flight. No headache. Bob Does anyone else hate that film a block target leaves on their arrows. -
