Over the counter archery deer tag gone?
mulie hunter replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Desert bull I disagree with the overcrowding of the Kaibab I hunt it during the week and it is not that bad and the further you go from the roads you hardly see any other hunters. The game tanks and areas near roads are normally crowded, that's the problem alot of hunters don't want to get out and hike. I have hunted game tanks right off the road during the week with no problems. I didn't make the Kaibab hunt in '06, but my hunting buddy and his friend did, found a waterhole set up, 4 days later they were going home with 2 bucks, no complaints about overcrowding. So Again I disagree with a draw for crowding reasons. I have hunted rifle hunts with more overcrowded conditions. Remember the 1980's - early 90's some units had tags numbers in the mega thousands, why good deer pops.. If the deer population can support it don't limit the archery hunter or any other hunter. Some of you guys you are complaining about overcrowding on the Kaibab, when was the last time you tried hunting it during the week. You who favor a Kaibab draw are naive the Azgfd knows if they get a draw there it won't take much to take it statewide!!! I'll be hunting the Kaibab in Sept. If you don't hunt it don't complain. -
I was believing you until the part about hoyt, now with a Pse bow it's possible.

This is the first time I've seen a fresh lion kill, those are very interesting photos.

Draw results are getting closer.

My point here is there is no need for a draw on the kaibab, why limit the archery hunt while increasing the rifle hunt numbers. The Kaibab has historically had 40-50% percent success no mattter the hunt permit numbers. The quality of bucks on the Kaibab is second to none in the state. The herds in '05 were no better than in previous years, some veteran Kaibab hunters are actually complaining about the deer numbers. More tags = more money for Azgfd. -

I disagree with a Archery draw. I agree with Mr. Quimby. As for overcrowded conditions go on some these rifle hunts where way too many tags are allotted. Point in case 12aw in 2005 1000 rifle tags with approx. 40-50% sucess. I hunted Kaibab archery in '05, And 400-500 deer were not taken during that hunt or any other! Better manage the rifle hunts first. Yes I am a Bow hunter first and foremost! -
I went sat. got to meet bowsniper and younghunter, great guys.

I hunt it ,yes there alot of hunters but the success rate is no where near that of the rifle hunts. I usally avoid opening weekend, and avoid the rush, it usally calms down after that. If they go for a draw there it is only a matter of time before it is statewide. -

Well i hope they don't do that. I'm a Archery hunter first, so it' would be archery all the way. I would hate to lose the freedom of mutiple seasons and units. North Kaibab would hurt the most I enjoy knowing I can hunt it every year. -
funny mule deer videos
mulie hunter replied to TwoGuns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
No, I think The title of that one should be 2 Stupid humans!!!! Once again I must say they are Mule deer not Carp. -
That answers the question Nevada has some nice mule deer!!!!
-
Thanks. He's not very wide, i'd guess like 23 inside, so if he matched he'd just break 200. Like 202 or so. Hey Kevin how's the mule deer hunting out there, I know a year or two ago they were harvesting some really nice bucks from Nevada.

I believe too much stuff I read & see here, like whitetails in hospitals, talking javelina,etc.... Now we'll just wait for all the rumors of when the draw results will post.
-
I learned I gotta meet this Lark fellow, I could use some good laughs around the campfire, and if he hunts as good as he tells stories I might learn a thing or two about coues deer. of course I already learned there ain't no talkin' javelinas.

That's too Funny! Where do you get this stuff from? -
I checked the paper work...... it said accurate to 1/2 yard....... not 1/2 the distance.... ..... Hmmm...... wonder if that still applies after it gets bounced off the rocks a few times. Hey Coues n sheep just switch to a PSE bow and you won't have to bounce your arrow off rocks or the ground to make that shot.Matter fact I got a old one laying around, probably a 1970's model(you can borrow it), I'm sure it's will still outperform a matthew's.

I'll be there saturday. Hopefully I can meet a few of you famous guys from Coueswhitetail.com.

Congrats, Doug nice pig and sweet find. I know the frustration of bowhunting these desert pigs I'm like 0 for 5!! Nice picture of the Goulds we also saw them in 35a. I see you put the tripod and the monarchs to good use.

mattys281 I agree with you on the short brace height, you gotta have great form on every shot or you pay for it! I loved the Carrera but when I switched to the AR ,W/longer brace height, my shooting improved,it is a Much more forgiving bow. Now shooting a 3" group @110 yards I know coues 'n' sheep was smokin' something, cause you can only do that with a Pse bow!
-
The video shows Pse makes a superior bow to Matthews or any other! I haven't shot the Xforce but would love too, 350 fps. By the way pse has been manufacturing bows with short brace heights for years. I shot the Pse carrera with a 6 inch brace height(320fps) before switching to AR last year. Pse is not losing but has always been a driving force in the industry. Now as coues n sheep stated about his promo, hopefully Pse will send my $0.01.
-
The Pse X force looks good, and best of all the video was shot in beautiful Tucson ,Az, on the Pse outdoor range. Yes, I'm a Pse Fan.
-
If you want to stick with Pse bows it is worth the drive to go to Tucson to the Pse pro shop(indoor/outdoor range) . Archery Headquaters is located in Chandler.

This will AMAZE you!

mulie hunter replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Congratulations, younghunter. I got my first robin hood last year, I know how exciting it is. Mine is hanging on the wall like a trophy!!! It took me about 6 years of shooting to get one.
