Lance has been a sport and let me try out a box of rounds. If they fly out of rifle true, we're in business. She's a shooter and is very familiar with her rifle. The hunt is in 20a which I am very familiar with and am confident the the shot opportunities will be within 100 yards. Thanks all for offering up the .243's, I know this would be a more suitable round but we will make due with what we have. I love this site. The generosity from you guys is unbelievable. Hopefully I can do my part and get her into the game. I remember going through this same feeling with my son only he wasn't nearly as cute!! LOL Thanks again and a big thanks to Lance... hope you enjo the red stag!!

I've got some of the 'managed recoil' .308 rounds that I would be willing to give you if you thought you could use them. If she is willing to give them a try..... My daughter has killed a couple of deer, and she used the managed recoil rounds on each one of them. She is a little bigger now and doesn't have as much of a problem handling the kick of a rifle so we really don't need them anymore. I live in Central Phx. and work in North Phx. I can double check my inventory when I get home tonight to be sure of how many rounds I have. Let me know if you think you would like to take them off my hands. S. Thanks!!! I should have looked at that a little earlier. I could have trimmed the stock up a little and had her shooting it. Thanks for the offer but maybe some other youths could take advantage of this...

Yes, tags were good to us this year! Of course dad gets shafted, I picked up a leftover coues tag down south.. No use for it now, I got a little forkie on the archery opener.. What a great problem!!

what do you guys think of these?? Anyone used them?? I pretty much shoot Barnes with all of my rifles. I don't know anything about these except they were the heaviest on the Cabelas site. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Ammunition/Rifle-Ammunition%7C/pc/104792580/c/104691780/sc/104532480/Federal-Premium174-Gold-Medal174-Rifle-Ammunition/1896216.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Frifle-ammunition%2F_%2FN-1100190%2B4294759021%2FNe-4294759021%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104532480%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104792580%253Bcat104691780%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104792580%3Bcat104691780%3Bcat104532480

No, she wanted a buck tag and Moms elk tag is the same time as the jr buck hunts in 20A.. So, she has the adult buck tag in 20a (with her 16 yo brother)..

Its a cheap stevens rifle. Not sure on the twist.. Thats why I don't think I should go higher than 70 grains.. It is an inexpensive STEVENS. As there is nothing cheap about rifles capable of .50 MOA. Pretty sure they are 9 or 10 twist. Shoot away!!! Someday, put a trigger, and a half decent stock. And you'll make guy's scratch their head. That paid twenty five hundred for custom stuff. Good luck, the .308 reduced load aint a bad way to go either. But I'm betting the rifle is to heavy. Take care, Willie Good Point.... Its actually been a wonderful rifle my kids.. Never had an issue and yes, .5 MOA all day long! Thanks for the insight, She's gonna put her first deer down with this rifle. I am so excited!!! She is just not physically and more importantly mentally comfortable with the .308.... She is a tiny little thing.

Bulletproof is great but in AZ where it is extremely hot, not the best IMO. There is a IPR Kit that uses the factory oil cooler but has a modification so that the oil cooler is mounted in a place that is easy to get at from under the hood. That way when the $300 piece goes bad like we all know they will, a monkey can fix it in a driveway rather than pay $1000 in labor. I feel your pain, I am replacing an oil cooler on Monday.. I personally love these 6.0's but they are very picky.. Fluids and Filters need to be closely watched and used properly. If you try to save $30 on a filter or cooliant, it just may cost $2000 soon after. Good Luck again and let us know what happens!
