Malpais Report post Posted April 21, 2023 (edited) Just notified I was drawn for the Unit 23 Early December Coues Deer Rifle hunt. It's the DER-1-237 hunt, excluding the Burro Mountain area, but I think it might be a good tag. Not sure, as I haven't ever hunted whitetails in New Mexico. If anyone has suggestions for a rancher to call, maybe a guide to hire, areas to key in on, etc., that would be appreciated. I'm in Northern Arizona, which is a long drive away. It's hard to say if I'll be able to get over and get a lay of the land before the hunt, but know that would be best. Appreciate your consideration.
