Turret Press Questions and Insights

Recommended Posts

My wife recently got a new pistol and that's got me back to shooting pistols more.  That, and my son loves burning through 9mm with his Sig.  That has me thinking about getting a turret press to accompany my current RCBS RCII single stage.  I've been doing as much reasearch as I can, and it looks like a turret press is right for me, as opposed to a progressive press set up. I'm not burning through 500 rounds/weekend, which is what I'm reading a progressive press is great for.  A turret press seems to be the right choice for our level of shooting, along with being more affordable; therefore, being easier to justify with my wife.  I know a turret press can do everything my Rock Chucker can do, but I'm not really interested in getting rid of it.  I just love the single stage process for my hunting rifles.  I have a friend who uses his single stage press for his pistols, but I don't have that kind of patience.

The turret press would be used for 9mm, 45acp, 40SW, 30 Super Carry, 357/38, and our ARs.  I know what I'm getting into with the cost of the plates and dies for all of these, but I also have pro deals for some of this, making that part of the cost sting less.  My digging into reviews suggests the Lee Classic Press is a good one for the money, as is The RCBS (mid-range price/value).  The Reddingt T-7 has amazing reviews, but is more than I want to spend.

So what am I missing in my thought process?

What is a solid turret press I can get without breaking the bank?

Anyone have a solid turret press they are looking to unload?
