Swarovski Lens Cap Repair or Strengthening

Not sure why I did not do this earlier....wished I had before I just ordered a new pair of lens caps....at $14.00 bucks each I could have save over $35.00 (shipping).

 

I have replaced the lens caps on my swaros multiple times, today I found a fix that I think will last. Hope somebody finds this useful.

 

I had one lens cap torn off from the rubber band holding it to the ring that goes around the objective and the other was about to 1/2 of the way torn.

 

I took some electrical tape (high quality) and cut it into small strips. I ran the tape around the ring and down each side of the rubber strap (beginning and ending at the lens cap, like a "U" shape). I repeated three times. Then I took the tape and wrapped it around the rubber strap (with the tape on it) sideways multiple times (to hold the tape on the rubber strap).

 

I can pull hard on the lens cap and it will not separate from the ring and they still function easily going on and off the binos.
