New elk pics

Recommended Posts

Spent the weekend up north visiting the folks and just relaxing. Took advantage of the forest opening to go and retrieve my camera. Thought I'd share some of the pics on it...

I was surprised to see how skinny some of these elk were. Bring on the rain!

Cool pics Ron. They sure like that spot. Is it a natural salt lick or is it a spot where salt licks have been put out regularly? I see the one lick by the stump.

It's a salt lick my dad started years ago. The hole to the right of the stump is where he originally put the salt. It's a good sized hole now.

Here's a couple of additional pics...

Man some of those elk look to be in bad shape with rib and hip bones showing pretty bad!!! We have been getting a little rain here around Flag. but I think it's a little too late now to help out in the antler department but it should green things up and give them something to eat, don't get me wrong we have seen some good bulls running around but nothing like it would be if we had some moisture earlier in the year!!

Later,

Geoff
