    selling pelts

Here is where I have sold my fur: Globe Hide & Fur Co 707 E Cactus Dr, Globe, Arizona 85501 (928) 425-9455 There is a fur sale usually in February in Globe too. Contact Arizona Trappers Association for dates. As for prices, for the past couple years for bobcats I averaged around 175, foxes 15, and coyotes around 10.

    Saturday Morning Coyote

The farthest I have killed a coyote with the #4 shot is 70 yards and he was DRT. I have shot several over 50 and they were also DRT. But I try to keep everything under 40 yards. As of yet I have never had one get away using #4 shot. And I am the same way, have a tendency to only take a shotgun on stands. But I do try to pick spots where I can only see 40 yards or less. I keep thinking I should take a rifle with me because if I happened to call a lion in I would be SOL due to it being illegal to kill one with a shotgun. I just hate carrying two guns. Tonight I went and called a couple spots just for cats. Called one bobcat in to 30 yards but he stayed behind the only thicket of trees where I couldn't shoot. He stayed there for 55 minutes and I tried everything to get him to step out. He only needed to take a couple steps either way and he would have been clear. Finally he walked straight away and left. The whole time all I could see was legs and feet. Broke my heart. Brian

    Huge Bucks

It is due to all them high fences people are putting out now!! Actually it is because of all the trail cams that are out. They want to be movie stars so the bigger the antlers the bigger the star!!!
  9. Guy from Snowflake killed it. It was unit 27. His buddy also killed a 115 on the same hunt. Family member of mine knows the guy who killed it. Haven't heard what the exact score is but have heard 158" and 144". Doesn't matter, awesome buck!! Brian
  10. Well I had been buying and saving my bonus points for a late Dec. coues tag for a while now, and this past deer draw I figured I could get the tag I wanted by being in the 20% bonus point pool for the coues tag. I drew the one I wanted. However, being a bowhunter at heart if the right buck was found during the archery season he was going to be my target. After spending 36 total hours in a blind, the buck I wanted finally came in. He came in with another nice 3x3. He passed in front of my blind at about 12-13 yards. I came to full draw and released. I saw the arrow pass through him perfectly. After a few seconds passed by I heard him fall. A short 80 yard tracking job later, he was mine. The great thing about the situation was that my dad was able to sit with me in the blind when I killed the buck. He was going to shoot any legal buck that came in and when we saw this buck coming in he set his bow aside and told me to get mine ready as he was the one I was waiting for. So thanks to him I was able to take my largest archery buck to date. He is my 8th and largest archery coues deer. He grosses 108" even with the short side. It looks like the short side got injured somehow which caused it not to grow right. If the short side would have matched the other, he would of grossed around 116. I am tickled pink to say the least, and am glad I got to waste my Dec. coues hunt!! I also added a couple trail cam pics of him from earlier. Brian July 16 August 1

    Grey Fox Rodeo

That is a nice truck load of fur!! Only thing that would have topped it off would have been a couple cats to go with it. When we used to trap we caught several foxes with the white tipped tail. I have called only one that had it. Pretty unique. Congrats on a great morning!! Brian
  12. Well, I couldn't take it any longer. Been waiting for it to cool off and freeze several times so the fur will get better, so this evening I had to go out. Made a couple stands and on the first stand at the two minute mark this fox came in. He came all the way to the decoy and dinked with it for a minute or so and then started to leave. That is when I let him have it with the 12 guage at 15 yards. Good start to the fall calling season. Brian

    Hunting and Fishing

I know quite a few sportsman that have already mailed in their ballots and they voted no!! Asked why, they said that they agreed with what was being said on the ads on tv. I asked them if they actually did any research themselves on the prop or even asked other sportsman what they thought about it and they said no, they though the ads on tv gave them a good enough reason to vote no. So this is the kind of stuff we are battling. I have been talking it up to everyone on come in contact with, with as much information I can give them to vote yes. Brian

    End of Story

Doug, That takes talent to get two ivories with one shot. Bullet held up good for getting two teeth. Brian
  16. This morning I made a couple stands before the wind came up. I called this coyote in to 35 yards. One shot from the 12 gauge and he was DRT. He is a real pretty, light colored big male. All I had was a cellphone so that is what I used for the pic. It was a good morning. Brian

    What am I doing wrong???

Well here are my theories, for what they are worth. From what I have found elevation matters. Salt just does not work very well in lower elevations. I believe it has to do with the type of dirt. Sandy, rocky areas just don't work with salt. I have rarely seen a spot below 5000' work very well. Deer love to dig and eat the salty earth. They would rather eat the dirt around the salt than lick salt itself. Set up your spots close to bedding areas in a spot where the deer are getting pinched into a certain area. A good spot usually will take 2-5 years before it is truly a hot spot. Through the years with all the pics and data I have collected big mature bucks are not routine to salt. I have found they will only show up about every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks with does and immature bucks being a lot more regular. So like I said these are my theories on it with what I have seen. Brian

    2010 ML Bull

Jason, Way to get the most out of your hunt! Congrats on a very nice bull! Brian
  24. Ok, I have the National Geographic Software and have been comparing it to FS maps, it does not show near the water sources as the FS maps. Does the Garmin MapSource TOPO! US 24k Southwest show more than the National Geographic software? Or are the topos on both based on the same maps? Just like to have some opinions on the Garmin Software before I go and purchase it.
