Congrats, to the young man. One heck of a muley buck. Brian

Well my hunt didnt last too long this year. Ten minutes after daylight i took a 3x3 plus eyeguards out of my groundblind. There were three buck together, one a little bigger and the other about the same size I took. The bigger buck just wouldn't offer a shot so I took this one which was big enough for me. I will email Amanda the pics to post. Congrats to the others who took great deer. Thanks. Brian

Treestandman, I was wondering when someone would notice that I had blood on three arrows. Well my first shot I shot a little high and hit him in the spine. It knocked him straight down. So the other two arrows were to finish him off. I didnt want him to get away. LOL. After he went down I got out of my blind and ran up there. Being a little excited as you could understand my second shot from about five yards didnt hit exactly where I wanted. It would have done the job but to make sure of the quickest kill possible I went ahead and added another arrow in him. I feel fortunate to be able to hunt these beautiful deer as much as I can. This is the third year in a row for me to take a deer. The other buck is on archery page 2. Brian

My dad shoots a Whisker Biscuit Rest and he is trying the NAP Quickspin Vanes. He really likes the vanes because they greatly improved his broadhead accuracy, however after about 10 shots through the biscuit the vanes become wavy and wrinkley and accuracy decreases. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening to the vanes or is it just the nature of the beast with the biscuit rest. He shot duravanes all along and they shoot a long time before this happens to them. Most of the time they never get wavy. Just wondering if anybody else has had this experience with the Quickspins. Thanks Brian

Yeah its too bad I don't have a bull tag this year. He would be one to go after. Maybe next year I will get lucky and he will get bigger. If he survives this year. -
This just hasn't been a good week. Went 0 for on the Navajo and 0 for here in Arizona. Congrats to all who drew. Brian

Ernesto, I had the stock replaced. The original stock cracked so I replaced it with a synthetic. About the gun firing when taking the safety off. I heard that when the gun was in production they had a recall on it for that very reason. They said that the problem really occured after someone had trigger work done on the gun. I have never had any problems with mine, thank goodness, but I do know others who have. They put a new timney trigger in the gun and that seemed to solve the problem. ARIZONA GUIDE, the weight on the gun right now is just over 6 lbs. It sure is an easy gun to carry around. Brian

The rifle is a Remington 600 Mohawk in .243. I love that gun. The cat was a monster cat. I didnt get to weight it but the local taxidermist estimated him at about 140-145 lbs. Brian

Actually shot him with a .243 right behind the shoulder. Was no mess at all. Except for the pack out job by myself. Brian

I've only glassed up two lions in my life. One one of them did I have a gun with me. Here is a pic of him. I killed him in Unit 29 on a December coues hunt. Shot him at 425 yards. Brian

Deer 1 Elk 2 Antelope 11 Sheep 13 This year is the first year in 3 years to put in for deer due to taking archery bucks in Jan. Never had an antelope tag. Sheep, well never expect to draw it. Just like filling out the application I guess. Elk, I drew 10 years in a row until last year. No joke. I had 8 archery cow tags and 2 unit 1 archery bull tags. Until last year I thought elk hunting was just an annual event. Brian

Let's see I've taken 3 archery bucks, biggest being 92 gross and i believe 5 rifle bucks, biggest being aroud 85. Brian

The same thing happened to me last year. Bear ripped it off the tree and used it as a chew toy. It still works but have to tape it to a tree, the bracket that holds it is no more. Also got a pic of him before he tore it off. Brian -
For me anyway I never set any standards before I go. A trophy to me is any animal you take that you are happy with taking. Score wise to me doesnt matter, what makes a trophy to me is the experience of the hunt and what it intells in taking the animal. This is the rule I go by: don't pass anything up the first day that you would be happy to take the last day. I have nothing against people who set their sites on animals that scores a certain amount. Everyone is different and has different ideas. Anyway that is my opinion on the subject. Brian

The hunt fee changes can't go into effect until the 2006 draw. That is the way they said it would be all along. They said this years fees wouldn't change a whole lot. Nothing they could do for this years draw. Brian

Well, I took a half day shed hunting trip to one of my favorite areas and found three sheds. Nothing very big, but it made for a good day. The smallest one on the left is a fresh shed, the other two are a year or two old. Thought I would share. Thanks. Brian

My nephew had the same problem. He had the problem on his first ever junior deer hunt. The solution we came up with was an eyepatch. He would pull the eyepatch over his eye when he was ready to shoot. Funny thing was when he finally got his opportunity he forgot to pull the eyepatch down and everything worked fine like he was winking all his life. Since then he hasn't had to use the eyepatch. Funny how things work when adrenaline hits ya. Brian

My brother and I went back down to unit 29 this weekend coues hunting and boy did he hit paydirt. Two weeks ago we found a spot that was just loaded with scrapes, however it didn't seem like the bucks have been back to them in quite awhile. We checked them again yesterday and have the bucks really been using them. We set a treestand up over a spot where he could shoot several of the scrapes. At 10:30 Saturday morning this buck came through and he stuck him good. He gross scores 105 inches. Wow! Were we ever excited. This is the second January in a row that he has taken a buck. As for me, I had my chance and blew it. Oh well maybe next weekend. Thanks, Brian
