  1. I leave them about 6-8months and then take a pin, make little holes in the tips of the antlers, hang upside down and let any moisture drip out of tips. Leave them that way until everything feels dry. Have some over ten years old that look great till this day.

  2. Very cool. I've been told bobcat sets will catch greys but I have never cought one. For me it's always bobcat, skunks or rabbits. Never cought a badger either. Do you specifically target badger or is it incidental? I've been trapping some juniper prairie country and have found some holes about 8 inches around and assume they are badger. Was considering setting a trap at one just to see.

I usually dont catch many greys but Ive actually been trying to catch them along with cats this year. Its all about putting a morsel out in front of trap and leading them in. Got eight so far this year. The two badgers were both incidentals. First ones ever in a cage. Sending both off to get tanned along with a coon and ringtail. Got a little project Im wanting to do with them.

  3. So this info you heard.....Did the individual who passed this on contact the department.....Did you pass on this info......Were the bait piles seen? If so were there pictures taken ...Any of the clients contacted by the department....Lots of ways to put an end to this if in fact it's true......It would seam hard to believe that an entire unit / season would be closed because one outfitter one one ranch had a high success rate....

All this happened when baiting was legal. And it wasnt just one ranch it was unit wide. Outfitter had nearly 100% success rates and the amount of archery deer killed by outfitter and all other hunters in unit supposedly exceeded the percentage allowed for archers in the unit. Thus the shortened seasons. Not sure how they come up with all the numbers as there is no mandatory reporting. Anyway, the outfitter fights every year to get seasons reopened.
