Just get a better built wood stove and find some good solid hardwood for late night only. I have been collecting and saving and even buying some good mesquite and oak and maple just for the sleep portion of the night and it rarely needs more wood but maybe one pee break each night.

Bad A** and way to go private industry and NASA. Being in the industry of aerospace manufacturing for a long time I have been involved in parts for many space vehicles and of course lots and lots of things that go boom!!! for a short while we were making fuel pump impellers for Space X while they were in development. I have been watching this stuff a ton over the last few years and its just amazing to me the lack of coverage. I think it just out of peoples scope so they are scared off by it and not interested. The leaps these teams have made in the very recent past is just amazing. I was so happy to see them finally get that think up, My wife was getting tired of the 5 hours of launch day streaming just to see the scrub. If you go on youtube there is hours and hours of coverage of all the launches and of course the best part, the landings plus spacewalks and a bunch of footage of the station its self.

I have had the same three lead acid for my horse trailer, boat , and walk tent for 3 years now and they are doing great. I rotate them around and run a battery tender at all times. Last set of two were 4 years old. No solar on mine. Dads trailer has 2 6 volts running well for 4 plus I think. He runs a solar panel on the tongue when stored. Not sure on the disconnect but why not. been watching this new solar tech stuff out of Australia and I’m getting excited. We plan to build an off grid northern get away some day and it’s looking good as far as tech for solar and wind power.

Ya I don't know all the bells and whistles and gears and all that, its the new 7.3 gas Ford 3/4 ton long bed and a big horse trailer 4 horse with LQ. This is not his normal tow truck he runs a Ford Diesel Dually. I was just watching the gages and listening to the motor. It wasn't a problem at all but the 2.2 or 2.5 MPG was cracking me up. My Ram diesel has 19.2 avrg mpg and has never been reset in 3 years.. His avrg was 12 or 13 but that was towing though. I only drove it up the one time and don't know much about it. I know he regrets buying it.. I havnt looked at gas trucks since my first diesel in 1999.. I did have that Ford V10 shortly but when it was down shifting on grades with my bass boat and camp gear I got rid of that quick. My guess is you can equip that thing any way you want but it wont come anywhere near a diesel. Sure is great off the line though just nothing on the top end.

Heck my parents won’t even loan me money. Super bummed for you, good reminder. It’s not just our folks though , I get calls and text every dang day. It’s sad

Drove my neighbors ponies up north from wickenburg to happy jack using his new truck and was watching the computer. It’s 10 speed trans cuz it needs all of them. Was zero impressed just like my old V10 dually. Oh it’s a bad but truck and it will haul but it’s no diesel. Maybe I’m just not used to rpms over 2000 haha

Don’t mess with that power stroke that thing is sweet. I got online ASAP and started looking at 7.3 when I got home after seeing yours. Haha

For all the guys who like to say no need for Diesel engine I just drove a new gas ford up the mtn with 11,000 lb trailer and had to run 5000 rpm at 2.2 mpg just to do 55 mph. Really nice truck off the hills but dang.

You were pretty spot on man, there’s 30 bucks worth in the weeds out there. Haha

I have a rhino 660 and it sure as heck didn’t look to me like half of it would fit through what I took as a pedestrian walk through. Forgive my ignorance I only looked at the fishing regs and I have only hiked to that drainage from the east to avoid just this kind of activity. I had no knowledge of even a gate, I just thought since I had never seen anyone on the lake or near the lake where I go that it was walk in only. I remember years back when I went someone mentioned it was walk in only. So some might see my disappointment. I told my daughter most people don’t appreciate speacial places and want to just bring their house camping with them and don’t know what the whole point is. Like the post above noting how they are considering this wilderness and trying not to let it gat hammered by limiting access yet folks do their best to do anything they can to get it just like every other lake up that way and turn it into a small city and drag half their belongings with them. Look at it this way, we hiked some nasty stuff to where we camped with backpacks , bivys, and hammocks and there was no sign of people. And where there is access for lazy people there were quads, garbage, etc.

After a recent backpack trip that had a couple of injuries I realized I was a little short on my med kit both at the truck and in the pack. A partner took a fall at night and was bleeding pretty good, I was impressed that all 4 of us had kits that could have taken care of the situation. Ounce we were home and we did a little look back with my wife (High level CCU ICU nurse) I decided to add more to the truck kit and my pack kit. Along with that I had my wife refresh my memory on basics in evaluating head injuries as well as wound care. (let me know if anyone is interested in doing an informal class on basics of eval, when trump says its ok we can put a day together out of hunting season if more than 2 people want in) So what are some basic items you guys carry in your pack and truck? Tweezers/multi tool suture kit Antibiotic Ointment Antiseptic Towelettes Wound Closure Strips Moleskin duct tape wrapped on trecking pole Bandaids Bandanna (always have one) tylenol Antihistamine (emergency electrolytes, energy) cortazone cream night time cold med vet wrap This is all in my pack kit, I plan to order a prebuilt kit online for this year to keep in the truck. I also started carrying IV kits at base camp as well for myself and the animals. My mules have their own kit that has some asprin, bute (last resort) wound clot powder, nasil hose, blue cote spray, suture kit and 9mm pistol for really bad cases. The main thing I was lacking was head injury assessment. I was pretty sure but not 100 percent. turns out I was correct in my checks but I didn't know that until I called home when we had signal. The other thing was I now have the garmin MINI that I should have had a long time ago, I just hope it doesn't fail if I need it.

Same gate, we hiked in from the East and camped. I saw the quads and wondered how they got in there so drove over when we were leaving. Just happened to catch the guys coming out around the gate (wouldn’t fit) through the campground with the large close barracades and over to their trucks to refill beer and head back down. My young daughter asked me why people are so lazy and stupid that they have to help ruin a beautiful place. Luckily where we were we didn’t see anyone. The garbage was pretty easy to see through the binos where the guys were parking the quads. Maybe 30 water bottles at the ramp area. No beer cans so at least the beer dudes weren’t pigs.

There were two quads with trailers down there recently for 2 days I thought the big steel gate made it clear but they just drove through the closed camp ground near the gate and made a new road down. Seems like it’s whatever you want.

I would guess 10 in tall by 6 in diameter as you see it but the base comes off and tucks into the top vessel. you can use the base as a little BBQ as well. Its kind of like a rocket stove, you can see the flame coming out of the top. very cool design and I guess the European military used these way back. This came from a family owned UK company and its hand made.

Took this new piece of kit out on our last trip and it worked out sweet. It’s a little bulky but perfect for two guys. It’s called a guilly kettle and this size boils enough water for two full size mountain house meals and a small amount left over for putting the fire out. It weighs almost the same as my pocket rocket with fuel for 3 days. boils in 4 minutes

Sticks, I’ll have measure it

I will be up for that soon, any plans for weekday shoots? Let me know in PM some details

ya the Benadryl is in my horse trailer and horse kit. I usually drink that when I run out of whiskey. I need to look at those Israeli bandages, I see a lot of guys carry those. I think the mymedic is what my wife wants for the truck kit

That's what I was thinking, he was doing the job most Arizonans wanted but like I said the city folks don't want feelings hurt and lawmakers have no common sense or nuts.
-
Nope, we voted him in for a ton of years and met him in Wickenburg at the parade several times and he was great for AZ but he had his run, I would personally love to see a coservative Joe type Latino get in there so at least maybe when good decisions are made on the streets they cant just attack him with the race card. I would say we are just a few election cycles away from being California JR If we don't find a way to bring electorial college type weighted system to state laws and elections then we are going to be stuck with the voting and values of the cities (PHX, Tucson)

I had a 69 cougar that had parts made in mexico so don't think a ford now days is American made. I think its hard to go wrong with just about any vehicle these days but if I was looking for a half ton type 4 x 4 I would be looking at the tundra. Two neighbors have them and they are doing really well. We have a scion xb with 300,000 on it and I drive it daily and have been really happy with it so Toyota has something right. our 1990 Tacoma made about 400,000 and 25 years before I sold it for 75 % of what I paid. We pick up a 4 x 4 ram diesel in 2016 and now we are looking for a new one since the deals are so good right now so if you were looking for a tow rig I cant say much bad about the ram. I have a hard time buying a tundra though for the same price as a ram 2500 diesel. but I cant use a 1/2 ton much so just not for me either.

Been using Davis bed roll for years. Everything stays in it and just toss it on the ground. Same material as wall tent. Only issue is it’s warm for Az so only use it in in colder temps but I love sleeping in it. Way more affordable those cutter units are pretty slick but just not something I need.

My daughter is driving a 2015 fiat500 and im looking for a trusted mechanic for some maintenance. She is on her own working through school and I want her to deal with it herself but I also don't want her to get taken either. Would love someone to work with her and help her understand whats needed and get it done. most likely brakes, oil change, tire rotation, shocks, and general 60,000 mile service. I have a trusted guy but he is way far out by me in the west. Thanks for any suggestions. FYI we have had bad experiences, dealer tried 700.00 bill when all that was wrong was it needed a gas cap. Oh and they lost her car for 4 hours !! Not a good day for them when I hit the lobby, my daughter was 19 years old and I believe that should be a crime.
