7 mm Backcountry
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Ok so go shoot your hunting rifle 47 shots and tell me what your SD is. All barrels move as you shoot them. Allterra rifles did a pretty good job on the info but they are missing the point. it’s not about the speed or pressure it’s all about the short barrel. That’s all it’s about, not more accuracy or speed or distance. It’s about having a short 20 barrel with a suppressor for hiking into the hills and thick stuff and hammering a big coues at 300 yards with one shot and not dragging a 4 or 6 in longer gun through the brush. imagine a 20 barrel and folding stock in your pack. -

The weak point will always be the case in some way. I don’t see all the big companies testing for over a year jumping into this new design not knowing for sure where it stands. seekins, Christianson, fierce, Aark, and more are all offering 7 Backcountry for 2025. -

Just an FYI I shoot all heavy guns myself but most of the work I do is on super light 8 lb guns in magnum calibers for hunters here in AZ so from what I see it’s a large market. The 28 Nosler I have for sale on here is 9 lbs and I have heard it’s over weight from several guys. -

Most guys I come across have zero interest in reloading nor do they have the time. I get a lot of request for load development. the testing I saw and talking with Manson Tools rep they are getting under 10 FPS deviation on factory ammo in test guns. 170 plus grain 7mm bullet going 3000 fps from a 20” barrel is a backpack hunters dream. I have not however looked at any accuracy tests yet. -

You will like that action if they keep up the production quality I’ve seen so far. -
I like that burst fire or something like that, its one of the round drum style with one torch and a slot in the drum to drop the brass in and out.

Close out on 2024 model

Sounds like a fun time thanks for the info. The restrictions do get frustrating, a 125grn limit you just lost every 6.5 mm guy out there. Fix the target system and let the guys shoot

adams meats in buckey, used to stop in every month when hauling hay from Bales Hay across the street. Always great but call ahead and see because they dont butcher often and will run out of cuts. I buy up all their bones and off cuts and make stock for the year.

270 WSM sizing issues
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to BeardownAZ's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
ya its all just what your wanting to get into, loading still saves a bunch on rifle rounds. I quit reloading some calibers since its not much savings to load them and not worth it. Id rather sit in my load room than watch tv so it keeps me busy for the 4 years waiting for a tag. We shoot pretty much every week so having all the tools is needed. If your curiosity gets to you can hit me up, I have everything to measure and find whats binding up on those cases -

I would invest in measuring devices to print the case after sizing, you need to know if your in spec or not
