Christian hit the nail on the head. I wore my WB out until it was starting to fray and I didnt have luck with accuracy ( I am not the best archery shot at all, so I need all the help I can get!) I switched to a Rip Cord fall away with my gift cards from Xmas and I love it! It's not like the Whisker Biscuit Arrow Rest fails or wears out in one day, the WB can show some wear over time, but one KNOWS this is happening (a replacement disk is $20.00 and takes a minute to install). Drop away rests are very reliable but they DO fail without notice. One must fell comfortable with their equipment (this depends on the person). I used the logic of, which is worse, failing without notice, or knowing something is sloooooooowly wearing out. There is a reason why the WB is the most widely sold rest and it's design drastically changed archery equipment... it's simply the best hunting rest there is. Redman Good to hear all the vaying opinions and experiences. I have to agree with you Redman, that each of us has to settle on what we feel most comfortable with. I guess that is why I shoot the WB...it works for me and I have never had a failure or problem with it. My experience has been all positive. I am sure that the drag along the arrow is a factor, just dont believe its too much. I also think that they will wear out over time, but have found that it is easy to replace every couple years. Also, with the speed of my new Switchback XT LD, I am able to set my first pin at 40 yards, which allows me to shoot four pins to 70 yards. As for accuracy down range, I shot my Mule deer buck last year at 76 yards, through the heart, and double-lunged my cow elk at both 55 and 65 yards. So, no complaint from me, with my experiences, with speed or accuracy using the WB. I must say that I have never shot a drop away rest, so I cannot say whether or not I would like one more or less, or even if they work at all. So I am glad to know that if I decide to go away from the WB, I can be sure from all of your experiences that the drop away is a good option. twoguns

EJ, why do you say you now see the need to go fall away???? just wondering... bobbyo, why so down on the whisker biscuit? The reason I ask, as a rather un-experienced archer (only 5 years), is that I shoot the biscuit and love it. I never have to worry about any moving parts, the accuracy is great and it shoots very consistent. I did have trouble early on with fletches coming loose, but only because my bow was not set up/tuned quite right. My arrows are not fletched with radical helical veins. I may be wrong, but it just seems like the fall away rests are the popular trend at this point, and I dont see the advantage. Somebody straighten me out on this one. thanks, darren

Pretty amazing the amount of rain in northern AZ the last 24 hours. It is good to see the moisture for the deer populations....that is if they dont get washed away. Here are some amazing numbers on the water sheds around Camp Verde... Dry Beaver Creek normal flow: 0 cfs Peak flow @ 11pm: 7000 cfs Wet Beaver Creek normal flow: 40 cfs peak @ 10:30pm: 5000 cfs Oak Creek normal flow: 44 cfs peak @ 11pm: 1050 cfs West Clear Creek normal flow: 19 cfs peak @ 11pm: 10,000 cfs East Verde River normal flow: 100 cfs peak @ 11:30: 16,000 cfs Verde River @ Tangle Creek (South of Camp Verde) normal flow: 2340 cfs Rising flow @ 12am: 33,800 cfs (still rising @ 17' deep) Truly some amazing numbers. Seems as though most of the area around here got 2.5 to 3 inches today. All this rather trivial information was taken from the USGS website: http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/?m=real&r=az Yes, I am bored and cant sleep. The roar of the creek (dry beaver creek) outside my door is incredible. Twoguns

if you are going to throw that much ammo out there, then maybe the .223 is a better option. The rounds are comparably cheap if you buy them in bulk. twoguns

I dont understand why they are putting archery hunts in November. The only reason I can guess is to get more hunters into the woods without killing many more elk. I hope everyone else puts in for november hunts, because I will be putting in for september. Seems like the same motive as moving most of the WT tags to October/November, there will be more hunters/tags but low success rates. I hate the cold, short days. I'll take long, warm September days anytime, and I prefer my elk rutting and not running scared from gun shots. twoguns

hate to be the one to tell you this, but I'm pretty sure there is no upgrade to that bow...

Troy, if you like survival stories, another book you might like is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It is about a 12 year old boy who has to survive in the Canadian Wilderness after his plane crashes. He learns to survive by learning how to shoot a bow and arrow. darren

DAMN YOU, Mr. Hun!!!
TwoGuns replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Scottyboy, maybe you need to start a new website for those diminutive, ghost-like birds....maybe... www.Hungarianpartridge.com Maybe it could even some day strive to be in the top 20 hunting sites like CW. I noticed just like we have KARP, you have MUTTS up there. I also think you have referred to them as ditch parrots? Anyway, I see a lot of similarities. Beautiful country for sure. twoguns -

Help me name my new dog!
TwoGuns replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Her eyes look remarkably like my dogs eyes, even though she is a totally different breed. Her name is Annie (as in Annie Oakley), and her mom was named Daisey (as in "You'll shoot your eye out!" I am sure Amanda that no matter the name, good times are their way. darren -
have to agree..... the 22-250 is perfect. shoots fast and flat and accurate. course, my ar-15 .223 works well also.ll

David, good luck finding a rifle, it is always fun to get to buy a new weapon. I bought a Savage weather warrior model with the synthetic stock and stainless barrel and love it. I was looking for the same type of ballistics as you are and i decided on the 270 wsm. so far i love it, shoots very well at long range. I also like savages new accutrigger. i think it helps me be more accurate as i know exactly when it will fire. If you get back up to camp verde i would not mind you taken it out to shoot. i dont know if they make it in left hand. darren
