I thought well we are all waiting for our results I would go ahead and post up our hunt from 2013 elk hunting. Since I never did post it back in 2013. 2013 Is last time we {my family} was drawn for elk. We had a great time. My son and my wife were drawn on the same hunt. It was a very wet wet begging of our hunt. Lots of rain and alot of standing water every where. Later in the hunt we were able to get a little more sun which was very nice. It began with my son passing up a shot on a 330 340ish 7x7 bull. I asked him why he did not shoot. He told me that he thought it was a small 6x6 with the last two points being a small crab claw. He was a little angry with himself after I told it was a 7 point. First day we had alot of chances but past on alot of smaller bulls. We had 3 bulls that we had found little later that were between the 350 375 mark. We hunted these bulls switching off on the bulls every day not to put to much pressure on them in any one day. We came very close on these bulls several times but they were just out of bow range. My son finally put a bull down on the second to last day of his hunt. Then he had to head back home and to work. So now all the concentration was on my wife and getting her a bull. We hunted the remainder of the season very hard. she had shots on bulls just a little out of her bow range. She made the right choice in not shooting. Just was not in the cards this trip. I give her alot of credit she hunted hard. Getting up early every morning and out every night. She hunted hard and did a great job. It was a very memorable trip, having spent some great family time with my wife and son. Good luck to everyone on there draw. Hope you get the tag you want. Your lookin like a pretty darn proud PaPa there, With good reason. Congrats On your new member to your household she is very cute. also congrats on the speed goat tag. I have hunted both of those units and have seen some nice bucks. Pm me anytime, I will share what I know. Also we have a elk tag for 5 or unit 6 this year {don't know yet}. But if we get hit for 5 we can let you know what we are seeing for goats. Hope you tag out on a toad.
