GotCoues... looking at the time of my post Im not sure I was using much logic. Maybe I didnt comprehend the squaring of the points concept fully. After re-reading it does seem like a viable alternative. I for one am one of those guys who is lucky enough to get a tag for something pretty much every year though rarely a "premium" tag. I do know guys, however, whove been waiting forever It would be great if a system could be devised that could keep them from ever reaching that high teen - low twenty bonus point number. Maybe this is it I don't know. But on the flip side I'm also wary that we mihgt end up in a spot where it takes 5 years to draw a late archery tag for elk. That being said the current system obviously has its flaws and I've always been skeptical that it changed draw success from the old pre bonus point days much.

Its hard enough to draw a premium tag as it is, why should a guy get punished just cause he drew last year? Most guys who draw tags in consecutive years are putting in for the less desirable hunts. Of the guys that I know who have a pile of points they are only looking for on specific unit and season. Lots of them only put one choice down. . .

I do understand you point Sinwagon. But to each his own. I too have seen a guy shoot a 2point on the second day on the strip and he lived in Fredonia. It was his choice, he was happy. So be it.

Not meaning to derail the thread but why is it a wasted tag if a guy just wants to hunt a few hours in the morning. its his tag and he can use it how he sees fit. I'm not sure of the numbers but the amount of applicants rises each year whether its online apps or paper apps.

This is a gov't agency we're talking about. Efficiency and timeliness are not in their lexicon. It will happen when they get around to it and will also be full of errors. But why expect anything else? Name one thing they do well.

Theres not much relief in sight. With the casastrophic fire season we had around here last year, I'd expect early closures of the forests. Probably before Memorial day.

So a few days ago there was a satelite blip and some debris, they declared it conclusive evidence that the plane had gone down in the Indian ocean. Now they are looking at some different debris... in a different area.... how botched can this "investigation" get?

I never have much luck at the Prescott lakes but know that others do. There have been some improvements going on thats caused some minor closures at Lynx. The park area improvements are done at Goldwater.
