    Bipod recommendations

The "S" at the end denotes the swiveling model. Worth the extra coin. That model does attach to a sling swivel as well.

Hand-me-downs. Watch this site. Always people giving away kids camo, or selling for cheap.

    After ladder test

Before you go to seating depth testing, I would do charge weight testing. 3 shot groups, in that range, but in .3 grain increments. Then do seating depth testing at .0400" increments to start.

cooler air and rain, any bugles yet?

    7E was quiet this weekend.
  12. Had the same issue with an R700. Decreased the firing pin, spring, and inside of bolt body. No oil, reassembled.....boom. same thing with a Ruger M77. Had another really old R700 that did the same thing, but wound up having to buy a new spring to make it work. I bought a Wolffe Blitzschnell and worked great afterwards. Yet another needed a spring and new firing pin. Start easy, then replace piece by piece.
  13. I saw that yesterday as well. In the testing stages now. Berger 155 EOL Elite Hunter.
  14. I have used the 6.5mm 127 LRX on a deer at 637 yards (Taylor last year), and it dropped immediately with a well placed shot. Also, a .308" 175 LRX on an elk @ 160 yards. Elk went 10 yards. I have a great load worked up with the 168 LRX for my 7RM too. Several other game animals with Barnes bullets. .257" 100 TTSX, .257" 100 TSX, ,277" 130 XBT & 150 XFB, 7mm 140 TSX.
  15. Got home and cleaned the bore. Then, mounted the Seekins 20MOA Picatinny rail, and mounted the Premier Heritage Light Tactical 3-15×50. Total weight of scoped rifle: 8lbs 15oz. Not bad at all. About 6-7 ounces more than my dream weight, but still a very manageable carry weight. I shaved a total of 2lbs 9oz off the rifle from when it was a .25-06AI. The scope clears the new Proof Research Sendero Light just fine. But I had to clearance my scope cap ring just a hair. I will probably go just a bit more. Scope cover swings open without touching the barrel. Scope cap ring needed a touch of work. I had seated some 168 Berger HVLDs to check seating depth starting points when I went to pick it up today. Shortest is actually .020" longer than book max COAL for the 168 HVLD. I went up in .040" increments from there. I opted for a SAAMI reamer, and not a long throated chamber, knowing I won't be running anything over the 168 HVLD. So the 168 HVLD touching the lands is still .0600" longer COAL than the Berger SAAMI spec. So I get to start testing with them seated out a bit more than factory loads. I will get some good photos of the rifle later. The work on it is awesome. Some custom work, hand shaping (who else has heard of the Remington "Legacy" bolt handles other than me?), turning muzzle brake down to barrel contour and making sure it is timed and concentric with the barrel, bedding the stock, opening up the channel, etc. Look for load development to start very soon. Stay tuned. Plans are to test the 168 Berger HVLD, 160 Sierra TMK, and a 145 Barnes LRX for hunting in the 12s.

    Stolen custom rifle

Funny about Farmer's raising rates. When I bought my wife her new 4Runner in June, I called my agent, and he added the vehicle, full coverage, and my monthly rates went DOWN due to a new policy they have, even with adding the new vehicle. How is THAT for CS? Could I get cheaper rates from elsewhere? Probably. But coverage, and customer service, and loyalty go a long way in my book. I have been with Farmers for 25+ years. Great company that does not jerk you around. They work for you, not against you. I will gladly pay a bit extra for that kind of service.

    Stolen custom rifle

I have a rider for my firearms and optics specifically. I keep a detailed list of componenets, and when items switch around, I update the list and let my agent know. He thinks I am insane.......he is probably partially correct too.
