Holy ham sandwich Batman! How is the temperment? -
Good price. $250+tax off and free rings.

Congrats on the lucky draw. I haven't had a tag since 1999, but I don't hold it against you. Good luck on the hunt.

Hard to pack out an elk with your wife thrown over your shoulder. Good call on not escalating the bronchitis into pneumonia.

I have seen bull elk like that in the velvet. I would guess either broke the pedicle off the skull (that must have hurt), or some genetic abnormality. I found an elk antler one time that had the pedicle and a big chunk of skull attached. It was a big antler too, wish I could have found the guy that broke him off!

Elk Rifle/Medium Range Hunting Rifle?
lancetkenyon replied to Hoss50's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Harley, if you need help shooting a 400 yard ladder test, let me know. I can go and mark shots for you to save some boot leather and time. -
WTB- borrow window gun rest for Champ Hunter
lancetkenyon replied to elkaholic's topic in Classified Ads
Don't screw it down tight. Then you can slide it back and forth.... I would hope when shooting from a vehicle you would be shooting at a fairly stationary target, and not need a lot of adjustment for a moving target once you get it in the scope. Or watch some poaching sting videos to see how the pros do it. -

What about the clamp on style window mounts for binos with a threaded adapter, then screw on a saddle rest? -
I love the 69 SMK for game. Not as explosive as a V-Max, but I haven't had a single one get away when I put one in the boiler room. 0-40 yards max from my experience. Heck, I had a coyote run 100+ yards when a .300RUM left a baseball sized exit where his heart used to be. Never had anything run that far after a 69 SMK hit them in the same place.

And yet he eats meat, wears leather shoes, rubber soled running shoes, leather seats/tires/anti-freeze in his car, listens to music from a violin or drums, loves watching fireworks, probably has some old vinyl records, eats Jello, 35mm film, chewing gum, marshmallows, white or brown sugar, Downy, plastic grocery bags, Guinness beer, Crayons, lubricated condoms, cologne or perfume, plywood in his house, toothpaste, a lot of soaps shampoos & conditioners, and lipstick and nail polish for his significant other. I love slapping hypocritical "vegans" and animal rights activists in the mouth with this info. ALL of the above products contain animal by-products. I guarantee the animal rights activists use these products.

Sportsman's had some this weekend. Bruno's always has them, and their bullets are usually cheaper than most other places.

69 SMK 25.0 Varget CCI BR-4 Seated to max mag length -.070". I get 3033 fps from my 24" 1 in 9" twist and sub-half MOA. It has taken a bunch of yotes, javelina, and jackrabbit galore. The same round has taken a mule deer doe for a friend's kid. We shoot steel to 850 all the time, even 1000 on occasion.

I added BriantAZ to the list. Great guy, thanks for letting me make payments on the rifle.

Go shoot some coyotes please.

Right before you start down the hill into Verde Valley.

I don't think there are any binos made with 99.9% light transmission. But here is the kicker. I can see more details due to the light gathering capabilities with my binos in the first or last 20 minutes of light than I can with my naked eyes.

I have the Euro 10x42s and the 15x56s. I got absolute smoking deals on both of mine, basically both pair for less than one pair of Swaros. I was fully prepared with cash in hand to buy the Swaro SLR HDs when I bought my 15s too. Last year I had hundreds of hours behind both pair. No eye fatigue after 10+ hours a day for 10 days straight on 3 separate hunts, glassing from 200 yards to 2+ miles. From January to December, I put them through their paces. Looking for game, scouting, range time, long range shooting and spotting, for work, etc. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. And I consider myself an optics snob with an addiction to clear glass, both for binos and scopes too.

Tell us about your elk rifle, and cartridge?
lancetkenyon replied to Stray Horse's topic in Elk Hunting
Looks like we will be getting to use my late father-in-law's rifle on a couple elk hunts this year. I am sure he will be smiling down on us while we are out in the woods with his granddaughter's packing it around the elk woods this year. It wears a different optic now. -
Taylor drew a 7W early cow tag. 3rd elk tag in 3 years. When she turns 21, we are off to Vegas.

This should sum up every hunter's view on coyotes.

Hope that bad boy passed on some genes! That is a brute and a testament to good breeding. Fantastic once in a lifetime deer. High fence or not, beautiful buck.

ANY safe can be broken into. A safe is truly a deterrent for the smash and grab type of burglaries. If someone wants in, the WILL get it. They just buy time for a response or make the thief make a decision if what is in it is worth the effort and time added to the chance of getting caught. Same as a lock on a front door. If someone want in, a window is usually right next to it. If we try to eliminate all threats of burglary, we would be spending $1 million on a security system, armed guards, dogs, etc. That is why I also carry an extra rider on my insurance to cover my guns.

Just a little tease from the Az Deer Association.......WINNER Posted
lancetkenyon replied to azelkhunter2's topic in The Campfire
I got to fondle this rifle yesterday....I think my wife actually got jealous. This rifle is truly a beautiful piece of equipment for the serious long range hunter. I think I will be buying some raffle tickets for it. I never thought I would need a .338 Edge.....now I KNOW I need this one! -
Way to stay after the set!
