Question about hours and pay as a salaried employee
lancetkenyon replied to PRDATR's topic in The Campfire
Does she like her job? Does she make good money? Would she rather look for another job? I am salary too. Sometimes it sucks. I work between 55-112 hours per week. 90% of the time, 55-65 hours. Good pay, and decent benefits, so I stick it out on the longer hour weeks. I get a week paid sick, 3 weeks paid vacation, plus 10 paid holidays and one personal day. That is 6 weeks off paid. So about 240 hours paid. It is tough finding good jobs, so my suggestion is to suck it up if the job is worth it. As far as a "State" employee, even the salaried ones I know work 40 hours and get compensation for any OT they need to pull. And State benefits are usually very good. -

Looks familiar...I had one just like that in .270 Win.

Sound like too hot of a load if you are getting sticky bolt lift. Be very careful. Any other signs of overpressure, like flattened or cratered primers, case head swipes, ejector marks, brass flow, etc.?
-
Have you trimmed brass back in length lately? I have had that happen before when Brass starts getting too long even with a FL die.

These are my favorite types of threads! Awesome job the the huntress, and to the "guides" too. Awesome buck.

Very respectable blacktail. I have a set of great 4x5 plus eyeguards sheds I picked up from a blacktail around Sacramento.

Posted it before, and I'll post it again. We use numerous options depending on the situation. I would rather use multiple shooting aids and get a good rest and clean one shot kill than be macho and shoot offhand only to have a less than good shot on game. I have shot game offhand numerous times, actually more often than not, but if I have time, why would I not set up and have a rock solid rest? And even the Triclawps on a tripod requires some shooter input. Tripod & bipod both Tripod only (no TriClawps) Survey tripod & Sight Vise (only if you are near your truck though. Bulky & Heavy) Free standing bipod/shooting sticks (what Taylor used at 160 yards for her elk last year) Tell me that smile is not worth using a shooting aid. If you have the money for the best, why not go with the best? NOTHING compares to Swaro ELs. Nothing. You will never ask yourself if you should have bought better. I vote for the 10x42 ELs. I would not get the EL Range though. I prefer separate glass and LRF. Less to go wrong with your binos that way. As for Vortex, I think they are decent, but comparing them to any Swaro HD is like comparing wilted brussel sprouts to sizzling hot bacon.

I live about 400 yards from Skunk Creek. Downhill from the bank too. My property regularly has a river running through it during torrential downpours. My acreage looks like a lake at times, but never gotten up to foundation level. 1000 year flood might change things though.

Working on finishing the paint for you. Got the base and the stripes done tonight. Will add a few coats of matte clear tomorrow once things dry overnight.

Prayers for comfort to all, and no suffering for your Mom. Man hugs from all your brothers here on the site.

I will assume for that price it is an ADW model w. the blind magazine, no floorplate? Not a bad price. Action alone are $450-500.

anyone shoot that Weatherby Spitzer ammo?

Or better yet, save the brass and reload your own recipe! -
Love seeing the kids getting it done! Congrats to the huntress.

If it goes where you want it to, it will kill just fine. Bullet placement first and foremost. -

Bump for a great set of glass. I use mine all the time. Amazing clarity, and top notch warranty (if you would ever need to use it, which you probably won't). -
I will be up in 12AE in a few weeks. I will keep my eyes open.....but it sounds like you were in 12AW.

Great bull! Good mass, good back end. And you had a blast. Sounds like a very successful hunt to me.

I get my 7 1/2 minute maps from Wide World of Maps, and get them laminated to last a long time. It is expensive to buy an entire unit, but so worth it to find every bump and sinkhole, ridge and saddle and canyon, and almost every known waterhole other than natural rain catchments.
